Probably because unlike Knuckles, he actually grew up in some semblance of a society with other creatures like himself. Earth is probably pretty similar to what he grew up around.

I like to think because he effectively was disowned by his society and thus has no foundation so a new society is basically starting from scratch.

Also he's been watching sonic for months,so he understands earth culture through association.
