The only thing this is missing is a couple "better than 16bit" variants in addition to the rest. A Sonic Mania version (with better music, better animation than 16bit, wide screen aspect ratio etc), followed by a Sonic Generations version that turns into fully-3D graphics when you're doing very well. *That would be mind blowing.*

This reminds me of a game called Bit Trip. Flux. It’s a rhythm game where you need to keep to the beat to improve the music. The more you miss, the more the game downgrades it’s visuals.

Its a really cool hack, my personal favorite is still the one where the whole screen turns into an LSD trip whenever you get rings. lol this hack also legit shows us what Sonic would have looked like on Gameboy so that's interesting. GG Darby.

34 MIN AGO Edit: Darby, not only Rings and hitting Robotnik gives the game better Blast Processing, but also getting score, such as defeating Badnicks. Edit 2: sorry for bad spelling Edit 3: 1-UPs also increase Blast Processing.

I think the step below original is supposed to imitate NES, he even implemented the characteristic sprite flickering on that one. The one even lower looks like Atari to me. Quite cool.

There’s more things you can do to increase the blast processing meter, such as: Breaking any monitor Landing any hit on the boss Defeating a badnik The only reason the special stages don’t have a way to decrease the blast processing is because there’s no way to lose rings in a special stage.

This reminds me of a concept I forgot about from way back in the SNES era. Thinking it could be interesting if a game changes it's appearance by gaining, or losing resolution/colors depending on how you played. Like a puzzle game and could be an advantage to complete a level, or solve a puzzle.

This hack is my favorite. The demakes are really well done and it punishes you for taking hits and grabbing rings to survive.
