I like the alternate reality idea but not as a retcon. Give him skills Modern Sonic doesn't have or have too early. This should have been bonus content, not a selling point. Chaos and Fake Shadow were blatant false advertising. If they were going to cut Super Sonic then they should've changed up that part of the game.

imo we wouldnt be able to reach these levels without sonic team but it is very interesting and impressive that a fan was able to make that, nothing I have seen is enough to say “tHe fAnS arE betTeR” but the fans certainly do have their time to shine and its great

@@mondopatrick definitely, Sonic Team makes the entire game, good or bad. And when fans improve it, they build on what was already made. Or they might work off ideas already done before. While that does make it an improvement, people sometimes act like a fan made the entire game themselves. Even though some don't want to, a little credit goes to Sonic Team

People act like sonic team is the devil when they are the ones who single handedly created all the assets,characters,mechanics,levels,ideas,etc. And most fan made games people praise and boast that are "Better than what sonic team can do" are hardly any more enjoyable than Tails Sky Patrol.

@@mondopatrick while Sonic Team is the one who does the general meat, the meat is with a lack of ambition and passion in recent times. These fan improvement mods, especially this one, have that heart, which I think is all the more important and commendable. And even though they reused some assets to make a boss fight, they still made an entire fucking boss fight. This is an improvement mod I have never seen before to be quite honest. So yes, I think they showed Sonic Team what for here. Sonic Team has the ability and budget to make shit, but no solid sense of direction and polish. People are not acting like Sonic Team is satan, or at least that is not our intention. It is just clear to see that the care is gone. We just want heart.

@@callmekanda5662 Well from what ive seen ive only seen people ignoring the fact that sonic team is the one who invents the meats, i do agree that they lack the passion of the fans but the fans work wouldnt be possible without sonic teams supplies, i just wish more people could understand that.

If Sega updates Forces which is highly unlikely, lets hope they'll not mess it up and rekindle the dark age of sonic. Anyone who knows what happened 16 years ago, knows what i mean. It's no use forgetting the unforgiveable horrors.

They got all the time in the world to learn and do stuff like this at their own pace. And, unlike Sega, they don't put stupid time crunches that ultimately end up negatively affecting the end product. I like forces, but there was so much room for improvement. Especially in the behind the scenes department. Only three level designers. The lead designer's previous experience is a grand list of: Sonic Lost World. And that's it. The other two had never designed Sonic levels before.

Pretty sure Forces' spindash was neutered from Generations

@@game84cube It’s more powerful than in Mania, but less powerful than in Generations.

@@kirbmaster575 honestly the Drop Dash is all you need a good amount of time. Having Classic with a ridiculously powerful spindash always felt kinda weird. I think the main thing is it's like his abilities aren't to scale with his environment, if that makes sense. Using a spindash that powerful in a smaller area basically renders it broken. Sonic has always had abilities and power relative to the world around him. Think of it like this. What if Modern Sonic boosted all the way through Green Hill (thinking Generations Sonic running through the original Genesis game, so not a mod that scales him back.) A very important part of game design (particularly with Sonic) is making sure the world you run through is fun, engaging, and feels like it works with Sonic's abilities. Generations had slightly bigger levels for Classic, but not quite...big enough for his Spindash if that makes sense. Really fun to use and abuse, kinda like Adventure, but kinda makes things simple if your playing casually. Forces, honestly tones it down enough for it to work in the world he's in, but the physics are another ball of wax. (I did notice another moment of careening off a corner in Iron Fortress) so the physics retooling allowed for Sonic to maintain balance of power and control, as well as earning and maintaining speed rather than mashing the button and ZOOM top speed even past normal running in seconds and can last way longer.

@@saint-paris more like not enough, they completely misunderstand what we mean by "Slightly serious tone" or "developed by the same team as Sonic generations and colors". It's like they look at the title of the boom and write the story based on that instead of actually reading the book.

It's pretty much them knowing what a sonic game is when they've really lost touch with it, and when the fans do something with it, it's more better than the actual developers produce

Yes, they made the model optional. It's more similar to the Sonic 1 design imo and I like that! Either way, if you don't like it, you can always play the mod without the model change

It reminds me of the CGI model for Classic Sonic in Generations and Forces' trailers. I like it a lot more, the default is kinda the weird one to me

yes these two "curves" in the middle of sonic eyes are strange but the model is optional

Chaos does appear in a in-game cutscene. You can see him when the Custom Avatar stops the sun.
