The tower climbs were unironically the kind of platforming the base game should have had. Especially on hard mode. It was fun, difficult and very punishing but so much fun once you get the hang of it. They heard the complaints about the game being too easy, and said alright fuck you here's difficult. The only problem was the master trial, given that the games bosses just weren't made with a perfect parry in mind. Something that the new End Boss was and it showed.

I think the perfect parry is better on projectiles in general because they are easier to time. Even the End's hand attack is tough as nails to counter.

@@zap648 I agree, and I think it's harder because all the melee attacks are strangely timed; I always feel like I'm supposed to parry slightly earlier than the attack actually is. It doesn't help that certain attacks aren't well choreographed, specifically the ones with Wyvern's tail. If they try the perfect parry in another Sonic game, I do hope that they make a better indication of when you're supposed to parry; maybe like a glint that flashes when the parry window is open, like in Metroid Dread.

Watching Sam climb the first two towers with everyone in the call laughing at him was the hardest I've laughed in a long time. These platforming challenges look like something I would make in Super Sonic Maker.

For the update, mostly everything was great. Amy, Tails, and Knuckles were really cool to play as and I loved how unique each character felt. The new cyberspace levels were also pretty fun. It was only the Towers, Master King's trial, and the final boss that made this update less enjoyable. As Sam said, the towers were just a Sonic version of "Getting Over It." While Master King's entire trial was straight-up bullcrap, and the end boss perfect parry made it harder to enjoy. Literally, all they needed was to give a single pulley checkpoint while climbing the towers around the halfway point and to make the perfect parry less precise and the entire update would have still been challenging but fair.

I beat the Master King trial on my second attempt (just barely, I landed the last hit on Knight right as my ring counter went down to 1), but it was the most stressful/alive i’ve ever felt playing a Sonic game.

Some of the challenge are real cool, especially three of the trials I remembered being fun to figure out and completing. Some stuff like climbing the towers feel unfair and just tiring to get through. Was a frustrating but also fun time for me.

I like climbing the towers but i seriously feel like part of the challenge shouldn't be having to restart from the very bottom, maybe put down some grapples to pull you back up to certain spots like with the original towers.

When I was playing this, I had to turn down the run acceleration to make the platforming doable. After that it was quite fun and exhilarating to get so high up.

Heres a small tip i found this is for sam and anyone during the wyvern fight use both ur cyloops at the start when ur allowed to hit him chain him up and then do the cross blast at his mouth his health drops straight down to 2nd phase make sure u do hit the mouth when i found that it does that to the health its like saving 80 seconds of rings

I couldn't take it at hard, so I did it on easy (I thought I had to fight all 4 titans), and I had 60 rings left. On hard I got stuck at wyvern phase 2.

This and the Master King trials made the game stressful and frustrating. It really got in the way of me enjoying the final boss. I would of saved myself a month of suffering if I knew easy mode made the parry last way longer.

I really liked the characters and platforming challenges they added, I didn't really struggle with them but the combat trials kinda sucked and the final boss while still pretty hype felt a little obtuse, overall though I think the update was a decent send off for this game.

Maybe this is a hot take but i liked this challenge, i did it on hard and it took me a couple of tries but i enjoyed it yeah it being required to perfect parry maybe not the best way to do it i liked it for what it was and Sam rage compilation is pretty funny

13:03 Oh mate, that level - 4-H - is abhorrent and I hate it. It’s so game breaking haha! Y’know how the numbered rings in these new stages are usually pretty close to each other? Yeah, naa, spread across the entire stage here, and #3 is so obnoxiously placed the devs intended you hit a bomb in a certain spot to run up a curved wall thereafter and land on the set of rails that takes you to it 😤 If *that* ain’t fuckin’ with us, I dunno what it 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

I LOVED trail 2. I was able to figure it out and the fact they made us think outside the box defeating him was great. Too bad the rest of the trails stunk lol I couldnt beat the boss rush on hard namely because I got sick of the beginning of boss 2. So tedious. If it cut straight ro super sonic without any climbing it would have been ok. At least now I can fight giganto level 1 and with good parry without boss rush 👍

I genuinely scared of Heart attack after falling the tower in my first run. I beat on Switch first in Normal-Hard, then PC in Easy mode. I don't blame the dev but fan shouldn't expect too much on difficulty spike. Sonic Team should calm down a bit while playtesting. By the way, this DLC was intense.

Biggest question: Why does everyone spam the stomp in cyloop when you could use Cross Slash, the HIGHEST & FASTEST DPS IN THE GAME!? Stomp works outside cyloop, Cross Slash works better INSIDE the cyloop. I have tested this.
