@@celerystix It's just that normally on more accurate emulators to the game com. The music is just bleeps and only one sound channel while this video is using a different emulator that has multiple sound channels.

Im assuming the music was also attempted to be replicated with the ds soundchip..or its a low quality sample, after all the genesis sound chip is kinda challenging to reproduce

@@kiwibro6454 it is a low quality sample for each song. Though the DS did also have the capability of streaming wav and ogg files which would have sounded much better and not suffer from much compression. The problem is that this would have required a much bigger cartridge, like maybe over 100 MB and more to store the music . Sega was also moving to mostly digital only releases at the time of Classic Collection’s release, so that means they would have rejected a cartridge size that big.

Tiger tried to cram a 16 bit sonic game on to a 8 bit sluggish handheld, and it turned out to be shit. They didn’t even think about downscaling the graphics to actually make the game run smooth.

A.I.R added smooth rotation, a smooth 60 FPS and a lot of other content if you play the full game.

No, it's an emulator. It's as much an emulator as that _Mega Man Legacy Collection_ thing is. Otherwise, why would it need an original ROM to work?

@@JoLiKMC it uses the original ROM for the assets to run so it’s not illegally distributing copyrighted material. The engine and everything other than the assets are recreated from scratch so there’s no copyright violation, but if they distributed it with the copyrighted assets they could potentially get into legal troubles. It’s like the native PC port of Mario 64 and how that requires the user to provide a ROM for it to extract the assets from and run. If you’d just look this up you’ll see how it works and understand that this is a complete native port, not just an emulator. That’s what makes this project so special.

I have no proof of the contrary, but you also have no proof other than what the project team says. So, to me? It's a fancy emulator with add-ons. An _impressive_ one, but an emulator all the same. 🤷‍♀️

I know it’s a native port because I, and anyone who knows literally anything about basic programs, emulation, or anything about this kind of topic can tell you this simply because of how the game operates! It’s why stuff like the built in moddding and mod loader support works the way it does! You literally just have to look at how the program works and the game itself will be what proves my point. Why do you insist on it being an emulator anyways? Do you just not want to admit you’re wrong or something? Is that it? Because what you’re doing just doesn’t make any sense for an intelligent person to do.

Com standards, I'll give you that, but it's pretty much only playable on an emulator, because on the actual system the screen turns into a blurry mess as soon as you start running, all thanks to ghosting, so if you actually bought it, you wouldn't be able to play it. They shouldn't have tried to make a speedy game on a system with a screen like that.
