I think it's the fact that Eggman tried to restore the factory he had there (This was one of the sites of his second failed attempt to control the world.). After two games worth of neglect (with probable time skips unless your a fan of SBTS or SATS), Eggman has his work cut out for him, with 10% of the factory rusted/outdated tech and the rest taken over by the fury of mother nature.

It is a reference to the third act of the Metropolis Zone, originally the Metropolis Zone would have only 2 acts, but when discarding a few levels of the game due to lack of memory and to save resources, A third act is signed to the Metropolis Zone

I loved this. A neat and freaking cool mix of themes into one. This concept could revive the franchise about originality. It could have more paths though, but still amazing.

Time Master101 there were 3 acts because in the first plan for the game, developers had Genocide City after Metropolis Zone, which supposed to be a stage with only one act. Or some people said that back in the days, the developers were planning to have 3 acts on Metropolis Zone, but in the begging of act 1, it would be like Wood Zone ( A jungle styled version of metropolis like in this video) and then it would become in the 2nd and 3rd act, as the Metropolis Zone we already know.

Arms The Fonocler in the first place was an intro zone for metropolis just like sky chase to wing fortress. The next idea was to be a separate zone.

It's not that I don't like the level but I would have preferred to see something like it was seen in sonic 2 I know that wood is the past of metropolis since they originally had time travel planned but I would have liked to see that metropolis that screwed me so much the first time I played sonic 2

Forgotten Factory Zone can be Scrap Brain Zone except ist extremely destroyed and you can see the Outside, Plus, It should be super rusty cause it was Left years... How Scrap Brain was Destroyed: As Robotnik's Mobile was destroyed, Sonic Actived "DESTROY FACTOY" before he left... "The Good Future of Scrap Brain Zone" The Bad Future of Scrap Brain Zone: Robotnik manged to destroy sonic, Eggman Conquered Mobius Completely.

No, Genocide city was supposed to be a one act zone in the game but they ending up scrapping it due to time constraints and ended up adding a 3rd act to Metropolis Zone along with reusing the level design for it
