Sonic's 1997 Birthday Party in Hamley's! - Southend of Sonic

Күн бұрынIn the first of many Southend of Sonic videos, the Gagaman takes you back to the year 1997 when he was just 10 years old and went to a official Sonic birthday party for 6th anniversary, located in the famous Hamley's toy store in London. Childhood memories flood in of 'meeting sonic', visiting the long-gone Sega Metropolis floor of Hamley's, making games within a game in Sonic R, and the Sonic the Comic contest that won him the ticket are presented with photos and home videos of the event.

Yeah I was there! I was 6 years old and man all I wanted to do was play Sonic R but I didn't have a Sega Saturn at the time. This brought back memories, thank you

Me and my brother went. Still remember it as one of the all time great childhood memories. I actually even manged to win a copy of Sonic while we were there because I got the highest score (for my age group) on the spider smash arcade game. This forced my parents to buy us our first console a month later, a Sega Saturn! Those were the days

Man, were you a lucky kid. I had a similar experience that I'm gonna talk about in a video of my own. I went to a Toys R' Us party with different characters like Sonic celebrating, along with Barbie, the only other character I remembered from there. It happened during Sonic & Knuckles's launch too, so I got to play that for the first time there.

I was there too! it's great to see some footage from the day after all this time! I remember there being a massive queue for the Sega Saturn so I didn't bother trying to get on it, I did get Tails Face paint though :D

Awesome job mate. I was pretty impressed with that games room you're in and it was interesting seeing this party taking place. It looks like Sonic's covering his eye after that little 'accident' you mentioned XD.

I was there! Laurie just linked me here saying she was speaking to you about it at Deborah's table at SoS and mentioned me, she meant to introduce us but didn't get around to it. It's for pretty much this reason that my experiences with Sonic R were almost identical. XD I actually sold my ticket like a decade ago when I really needed money, annoyingly, but oh well. So that's two people who went at least. I do wonder how many of those tickets are still out there, it certainly can't be many.

I wasn’t there infact I wasn’t born I was rather a dumb little feetus in the land before life though if I were my current self I would have had a blast! Also when will you start uploading again? I miss this stuff about obscure SEGA history
