As much as many fans aren’t a fan of the Wedding scenes. Unironically, My theater audience (especially the adults) got by far the most laughs out of Rachel and her sub-plot, in the film. While I agree it could have been cut down a tad, people did like the comedy.

I really don't understand the hate for finding the compass in Siberia. The entire point of hiding the Master Emerald was to keep the echidnas from getting it, so they're going to make finding it as difficult and roundabout as possible, so it make sense that the map wouldn't lead straight there. Also, I feel like I'm the only one who didn't mind the wedding scene. It definitely went on for too long, but the scene itself was fine

I got so excited when Knuckles asked “Does it include grapes?” at the end of the movie

As a hardcore sonic fan, I actually really enjoyed most of the human scenes

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got unleashed vibes, and when Sonic tapped the robot with his foot my immediate thought: "OH MY GOD THEY ACTUALLY REFERENCED SOMETHING FROM 06!" This was just a total love letter to Sonic. I'm not sure how people can go "OMG NHW is a total love letter to Spider-Man" and look at this and go "OMG Sonic is just full of nothing but fan service." like....yeah it is but the fan service services the movie JUST like No Way Home did so. There that is.

They managed to make Knuckles badass again and I thank paramount for that now let’s hope they make Shadow the soft spoken tragic anti hero again

The little interactions between knuckles and tails at the end of the movie were so cute. These 3 were supposed to be best friends but in the games they never really interacted.

something i really loved was the animation of knuckles. the way he leaped to keep up with sonic just looked really good and smooth. Edit: also that tidbit about sonic, tails, and knuckles act like brothers I think that head cannon work really well. How sonic feels responsible when tails gets hurt and when to celebrate winning baseball knuckles picks up tails on his shoulder like a little brother these interactions all feel like a brotherhood. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I loved this movie . I loved the characterization of Team Sonic. This was truly a Sonic movie. Man, we have come a long way from that poster. While this movie has flaws , I do believe it is a step in the right direction. Also, I’m excited for Shadow in the 3rd movie. I hope that his character is like Sa2 and 06. They redeemed Knuckles , I believe they can do the same for Shadow. I am curious about how they are going to do his backstory. If Jim is retiring and not play Eggman. But, we will have to see in the future.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the trio interacting, the bits of that we got were great, they bounce of each other so well. That scene near the end where they're running and fighting together in the town gave me massive sonic heros nostalgia I could practically hear the theme song. This movie also did something the games seemed to have been scared of doing for a while and that's letting tails and knuckles be fast. Like yeah sonic is the fastest but his friends are all quick on their feet and I love that they each got their colour as an aura when moving at high speeds. I do think they're moving a little too quick with the shadow tease, like its absolutely exciting but I think one more movie that introduced the likes of Amy and metal sonic first then teased shadow there wouldve felt better. But so long as the quality of the movies stay consistent we have alot to look forward too. I really hope Jim sticks around for one more movie before retiring.

Man, I actually got a big kick out of the wedding stuff! Rachel got a raw deal last movie, I thought it was nice she got a happy ending this time around. Plus it was funny watching Tom get bullied lol.

Like we saw, *spoilers* Knuckles dad, (and I hope to god Ken Penders sued cuz he thinks its enerjack even though hes never named) and Sonic calls Tom his dad. Sonic loses again and again in this movie and he cries and panics when tails is knocked out.

i hated rachel in the first movie, there was something wildly incongruent and inappropriate with her repeatedly telling her sister to get a divorce, and i was hoping that whole theme would be absent or ignored. All I can say is I am 100% behind rachel after this movie lol aaaaand now I'll watch the rest of the video :P

I didn’t mind the wedding scene, went on a bit too long but I will admit I liked how Gun was introduced with some silly plan to capture him at a wedding. Since Shadow is being introduced I do hope they show Gun being more serious next time and credible threat.

I actually kind of liked the wedding scene, for me it kind of implies that G.U.N has been just tailing them the whole time. Creating multiple situations and just hoping Sonic slips up. Also an interesting observation I made from the G.U.N Commander. Does anyone else think that he might be the same character from the Shadow the Hedgehog game. I thought it would make so much sense for a character that made an organization that defends the world from extraterrestrials. To have been some one who witnessed a rather shady deal with Gerald Robotnik and a rather evil looking alien wen he was a kid.

The Sonic and Tails scenes were definitely the best of the film, I feel like people are either gonna love or hate the dance scene but I absolutely loved it. They’re so precious🥺

I loved this film so much, my goodness. Personally, this was everything I’ve been watching my whole life as a lifelong Sonic fan. The characterization, action, voice acting, cinematography even, holy crap. I can’t wait to see where they take this thing from here.

I'm noticing a split between those who think the human scenes were awful and those who thought were just fine. I'm in the latter group personally. There was nothing terrible about them.

I feel the same, Nick. The humans ARE fun, but they take up WAY too much time. I was literally in the theater wondering if this was even a Sonic movie at this point, and was like a guy on an addiction withdrawal, begging for Sonic to appear once more to savor my deep and needy taste of Sonic, as all (probably not all) fans have within them. The dance-off scene had somewhat the same feel, starting really slow and awkward and just...strange and weird, but ended out strong with Tails using his abilities and Sonic and Tails bonding over it. I LOVED the moments when Sonic traveled to Labyrinth Zone with Eggman and Knuckles getting through the built-in traps. It actually FELT like a Sonic movie for that part. The battle is AWESOME. Knuckles, through his "Echidna Warrior's Code" probably was more focused on "friend" meaning ally, or assistant warrior of battle. Since he doesn't know exactly what fun is, he only know this definition of friend. Also, I'm surprised we finally got a "Super/Emerald Infused" Eggman. We've never got that in a Sonic game before (unless you count the fangame "Eggman Hates Furries"), so it's crazy to see here. The final battle with all three trying to come up with a plan was masterpiece work. They worked so well together that I'm amazed I hadn't realized it in Sonic games. You literally feel these three lost souls, trying their hardest to maintain this unity, this family together to defeat a great evil. Also, I can't wait to see how Ken attempts to fight off a multi-billion dollar company for the rights to a generally known/generally created game. And the instant Knuckles said "This is not the Sonic you know" while Sonic was still super, I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation for Super Sonic's eyes to go swirly and Fleetway Sonic becoming unleashed. It would've been AWESOME to see Knuckles try to harness his connection of Chaos Energy and fight/snap Sonic out of it. (Also I can't believe you thought the same thing as I did when Super Sonic confronted Eggman. I literally could imagine him saying "Showing remorse Eggman? If you could've played nice, I wouldn't have had to break all your toys.") Knuckles at the end of the movie spoke and reminded me a lot of Starfire. I could've sworn there was tiny bit of Boom Knuckles in there as well, but more on the side of wonder, rather than stupidity. He's finally FREE of his life goals and duties and learn how to actually enjoy life as it is. It's adorable. He's like a kid again. In a sense, he regains that past that he lost his family as well. :) (In a weird way, he's like a "lighter version" of Shadow's backstory. I really do want to give him a hug and teach him about all the good in life.) Overall, it's basically a massive spike of good and bad things and scenes. XD It's literally something like Sega/Sonic Team's weird good/bad influence leaking into the movie and wreaking havoc all over the place. *FINAL PERSONAL VERDICT: "Not a perfect movie, but a fun film..."*

this movie is awesome. Sega is 2/2 for the sonic flicks. The little Easter eggs for us fans was a treat.

I completely loved the movie. My poor wife was having to listen to me geek out about Sonic lore the whole ride home from the theater, but dang if I didn’t have a good time. Is it perfect? No. Was it worth the ticket price for this Sonic fan? Absolutely. My one big gripe isn’t actually the human scenes-they worked well enough for me, the golf cart powerslide was zany enough to make me laugh-but the kinda lackluster score for Super Sonic. I know we’re not into the Adventure era yet (if they ever do go there), so I understand Crush 40 wasn’t really thematically appropriate-we’ve gotta embrace 2 and 3 and Knuckles first, and I’m here for it. But *so help me* if they bring Shadow into Sonic 3 and *do not play Live & Learn* for the finale I will riot.

Tails knowing of Sonic before when Sonic didn't know him it is normal from the start. because originally Tails was just a fan of Sonic and his desire to be next to Sonic is what help him learn the ability to go fast with his twin tails as well as learning that he can use his tails to do a helicopter move or the Buttcopter as Sonic puts it. the point is Tails knowing them may look weird but it is accurate even on the games, so this was totally ok.

I really didn't mind the wedding scene, it really wasn't THAT long, and given I already knew coming in there would be human scenes, it was plenty amusing for what it was worth. It was pretty cartoony and reminded me of sonic X in a weird way

And honestly, yeah I didn’t really care about the Hawaii scenes up until the Wedding cover up was revealed to be GUN and Rachel and Maddie using Tails’ inventions from his backpack is what kept me interested in their part of the movie. And the dance off was very cute, seeing Sonic and Tails just hang out together. I don’t care what is shown on screen, whatever has Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Robotnik, and Stone show up, I’m interested 100%.

My dad Is from Jamaica and I am from Mexico, he's been here for about 20 years and he came here young, why does that matter? Because he's still not fully understanding of the language and the culture. Knucles has to be like that, he's been alone fighting for His life, and when he gets to a comfy place, when he has a family, he's gotta get used to the envoirement, but he already feels in home. He went back to Jamaica and said, quote: "I know this place, its nice, but I miss there, It already felt like home". Make the surrounding a task to get over, but make his family, and his friends, home. We love knucles here, dont missunderstand him.

I was walking in dreading the wedding part of the movie but ended up laughing throughout the entire thing. It might have gone on for just a little too long but that first movie spent sooo much time, waaay too much time with the human characters so I’m much more satisfied with what we got here. Even the snow lodge scene did such a great job with building Sonic and Tails’ relationship that I didn’t mind it. They were adorable together. There was a much bigger focus on the Sonic elements in this movie and I appreciate that. While I can no longer enjoy the first movie on repeat viewings, I feel like the first one walked so this one could run. I had a smile on my face practically throughout the entirety of Sonic 2 and I just wished my ten year old self could have seen this.

I was able to take some time to watch it yesterday and I loved it! It was so fun all the way through! I found some humor in the human scenes, especially Rachel walking away from crashing the golf cart while chugging down a bottle of champagne, that part had me dying! Also can't hear Uptown Funk without imagining Sonic and Tails dancing to it now LOL

The wedding scene had me at the edge of my seat for few reasons 1. RANDALL, WIFEY'S HOME 2. GTA San Andreas' heart barracuda 3. That gorgeous cart exit with explosions

honestly i loved the ended fight with the death egg robot where they just kinda shoved in as many refrences at posible the manual for the robot is styled like a genesis game cover the whole super sonic fight really feels like the unleashed intro the 06 refrence with the little kick to knock it over the fleetway refrence just after the kick which then flows into a refrence to the intro of black knight its amazing how much the shoved into those final moments

The thing I loved most was the team up (also since the video says SPOILERS sorry but Nick warned you, I feel I don't have to, with no disrespect and apologies), Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, I was about ready to scream SONIC HEROES! I was ready to cry, and it takes a lot to make me cry, I was basically singing the Heroes theme song to myself as quietly as possible so I wouldn't disturb anyone (and yes I've memorized all the words to it, along with What I'm made of, Escape from the City, most of live and learn... I love Heroes). I also love that Knuckles wasn't dumb in this, that's the thing I appreciate the most. Generations onward he's been portrayed as a tough meathead, he's never been stupid, naive and gullible sure, but that doesn't equal being dumb, I kind of got those vibes more at the end, but I still think it was a fair balance for the character, after being around Sonic, Tails, and earthlings maybe he'll be less like that. Thing I disliked the most (next to Rachael the Bridezilla being a bit too long)... was Shadow reveal. I'm sorry Shadow fans, I love the guy too, hate how he's being handled in modern games like everyone else, but I'm a Metal Sonic fan more, and I was really hoping for a CD, OVA, or some live action equivalent to the 2, it's what I predicted and hoped for, wasn't expecting Shadow till like a Sonic movie 4 or 5. Now having Shadow does set up for the possibility of Jim Carrey not returning, since he's on the fence between retiring or a long break (which bless that man, nothing against him, he's amazing, deserves it... especially with how Hollywood has been acting), it could go either way, Shadow can take center stage which would feel wrong since Robotnik is the one that releases him, but it's a good segway for the possibility of Jim not returning or returning, it's up in the air much like how Han Solo being frozen in carbonite was (because believe or not Harrison Ford had not intention of returning to Star Wars after Empire). The script could be worked either way with how the movie ended, and that's much appreciated... but I still wish we'd gotten Metal Sonic, but I guess you can't have that if Robotnik isn't there to make him.

Oh… I thought the plot wasn’t to catch Sonic at the wedding, but to plant a spy on the inside of the family. Sorta like how Mr. Stuart was a fake teacher for Chris as a spy to get close to Sonic.

the robotnic floss was actully funny against all odds. i took it as him being off the planet for ages so he's trying to show off his earth knowledge to knuckles but just makes a fool of himself by being completely out of touch.

Oddly enough finding the compass in Siberia reminded me of Clockwerk of all things. I really hope fans of both Sonic and Sly made that connection.

Robotnik and Stone had me laughing so hard I was the loudest one in the theater. Idk, my humor is beyond saving at this point. This movie (still with rose tinted glasses on mind you) solidified Knuckles as my favorite Sonic Character to boot. I loved his iteration in the Adventure Games, I loved him in Sonic 3. Thats what I saw in this movie. Tails was just super adorable. And Sonic was just Sonic. Felt like he carried a bit more of snark that he's known and loved for. The human scenes, honestly felt as if I was watching two different movies. And like I said, my humor was beyond saving, so that had me laughing. But I get it, it's not why I bought the ticket. I bought it for Knuckles lol

The movie was amazing! I loved every part but especially knuckles he was so cute at the end! I nearly lost my mind with the post credit scene I cant wait till the 3rd movie but it did make me wonder. how much of shadows backstory will they use for shadow like doubt they would but what if they like black doom and all that stuff! I would totally lose it! but I doubt they are going to do that tho but It would be really cool! But yeah I give this movie a 11/10!

I dunno if anyone noticed or even realised, but I'm pretty sure Robotnik made a Ugandan Knuckles (Do u kno de wae) reference in the beginning of the movie with his line to Knuckles, "I'd be happy to show you the way". Whether or not it was intended, It's the first thing I thought of. And I wouldn't even put it past them, since we had SANIC appear in the first one. It was subtle, but I'm sure it was intentional.

Honestly, this movie, has imo, THE BEST knuckles to exist ever! His characterization is great! And the design that they used is absolutely perfect, i hope the games take inspiration from this iteration of him

Went to see it a second time yesterday and it didn't change my opinion on that movie: it's a treat for every Sonic fan, the references to the games (S3K and Sonic Heroes, but I may have missed others), the presentation and detail of each character and their personalities, and oh my god the "hero" moments, they always get me and I believe everyone who has loved the games and characters in the last 30years had more than one moment of fist clenching desire to cry out YES THERE IT IS! in sheer excitement. The movie had its slow moments but those were all wiped away when our boys had their share of screentime. The only thing I was able to squeeze out in that mid-credit scene was OH MY GOD YES! I can't express the excitement for the third movie, if they keep the pace and tension and detail and overall love for the characters, story and references at the same level, it's going to be awesome. And no, I wasn't ashamed of my makeshift Sonic costume when I went there the first time :)

Just watched it last night, I agree with a lot of your thoughts. Film was a great time and took me back at least 15 years to when I first discovered and experienced the characters for the first time in Sonic Heroes. (Though I do think I played the very first sonic game a couple years prior.) All in all, I loved the movie, the call backs, the references, and interactions between characters. If I think about it for too long, I'll probably get emotional about the journey and how far this character has come from video games to now a blockbuster success. I had always wanted Sonic to have a successful film franchise and it looks like the team working on these movies is going to ensure that he will. Can't wait for more content from them and you bro. I loved almost everything about this movie. I loved the pacing and characters. I loved the humor and the amazing action scenes. even the whole wedding/hotel scene was entertaining to me. this was the first movie in a long time that I felt engaged the whole time. I love how they actually deliver on the action/adventure scenes and I love that the Super sonic vs eggman scene wasn't an anticlimactic and short scene, but actually has effort and time with this scene. I couldn't be more pleased with this film and is likely my new favorite movie.

Glad you enjoyed this film Nick! I really loved this film too! I also agree that they could have given Tails a bit more to do, but I still loved his relationship with Sonic and Knuckles in the movie. Also, I didn't mind the wedding scenes that much since they at least gave the human characters something to do. But, I wouldn't mind if they trimmed down the wedding scenes so they could give more scenes to Tails and Knuckles.

Watch the movie twice already, and I can’t get enough of it. There are so many things that made me happy like Tails, Knuckles, the action, the lore of the Emeralds, the references, the Team Sonic climax, SUPER SONIC, and SHADOW?!? And unpopular opinion, but I kinda liked the wedding subplot. I don’t know, but I kinda was rolling with how absurd it ended up, and it was a nice lead up to introduce GUN.
