It's funny how such an innocuous little game with so many concepts from sonic's past would be such a huge indication on where Sonic's future would go. Not only do we get this strange proto-modern sonic and modern eggman designs in this title, but it's also a harbinger of Sonic's departure from Sega Hardware, and would signal many of the men and women who would go on to form DiMPS' first time ever working with the blue blur. not to mention the blatant reuse of Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and the Half-pipe that would define many future titles.

I like how Sonic looks like Classic Sonic in-game, yet he resembles the Sonic Adventure redesign on the logo.

This game is almost like a precursor to the Sonic Advance games on the GBA

It's insanely impressive that a handheld Sonic game from 1999 can capture the speed and style of the Genesis titles so effectively. It's a testament to how good the hardware of the NeoGeo Pocket Color was, especially compared to the Game Boy and Game Gear. This well and truly feels like an uncompromised Sonic experience. Hopefully, it can be included in SNK's Pocket Color Selection series on Switch.

Most Iconic Sonic 2 Zones with different names + Sonic 3 Music + 8-bit Graphics & Soundfont = Sonic Pocket Adventure

Ever since Mania came out, I’ve been playing the classics to try and feel nostalgia. Sonic Pocket Adventure gives me the most for some reason.

I remember buying this when I was 18 in college and playing it on the Amtrak train. This was my first Sonic game that I owned, since I didn't own a Genesis back then. It was a good game, and the puzzle pieces did give this game a lot of replay value and encouraged exploration. Sega didn't put their games on Nintendo consoles back then.

For some reason, the sound and music in this game always made me think it was composed by the same people who did the music for the Mega Man Xtreme games. Kinda has that same vibe to it.

Not complaining but out of the other games like Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Rush and the two Adventure games, this is the _only Sonic game that IGN gave a perfect 10/10 to._ Let that sink in, folks.

Despite the game having simple graphics and sound quality, it plays really well! Also, the ''SEGA'' boot-up announcer sounds super similar to the Genesis one!

My only dislike with this game is that some of the music from Sonic 2 & 3 is placed for stages that doesn't fit. It's like they didn't really care what music goes with the stages in this game. Maybe they did it randomly or something. It probably wouldn't bother some people if they didn't play Sonic 2 & 3 first.

8-bit music remasters are outstanding. The graphics (for our time) may be garbage, but it just seems to have its own charm about it.

I remember this game from when I was in 5th Grade. My then-friend Jimmy Stager (a true fan of Sonic at the time) had a Neo Geo Pocket Color along with this game and some other games. Plus he was the one who taught me how to Spin Dash in the game. Back then, I knew little about Sonic the Hedgehog and the only Sonic games I remember playing back then were his copy of Sonic Pocket Adventure and Sonic Adventure when it was being displayed in The Wiz. A couple years earlier, I played the Game Gear version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

The way you collect the final Chaos Emerald at the final regular boss is very similar to Sonic Chaos. Another hidden gem, very cool game.

In my opinion, this is the direct prequel to Sonic Adventure since the designs and music feel classic yet Eggman/Robotnik changes his appearance in the game and the artwork is straight out of the first Adventure game
