Sonic Youth interview on MTV 120 Minutes with Dave Kendall 1992.
If you are an avid 120 Minutes fan and a trader/collector of actual episodes of the show, do please drop me a line. Although I have a fair number of shows, I am always looking for more to archive as many as possible, particularly from the Dave Kendall era.
If you recorded the show on VHS and still have your original video tapes but don’t have the capability of transferring to dvd and/or digital, I’d be more than happy to transfer them for you and send your original VHS back to you along with dvd and/or digital files.

I find their political opinions a little surface level but that could be the interview format or me applying the political culture of today to the past

I love SY, don't get me wrong. But what I'm about to say applies to all bands, whether good or bad. Whenever I listen to old interviews of bands or musicians and they get political, it always sounds dated and in fact opinions like this get dated very quickly. It makes me think that it's better not to air politics in interviews or write political lyrics. I get the feeling most people are just so burned out on politics infiltrating every area of life; people seem like they want a break from that, especially when they're escaping real life through music.

@@danielstoddart that’s true yeah. and that leads into the interview format. it’s just a basic open ended question, no context or build up. personally i wouldn’t give a fuck either

@@jacksonkimball4583 i think they’re just smart in different ways. thurston is very comedically and socially smart, kim is a lot more emotionally intuitive, and lee knows how to get a message across very well in a way most people can understand. Steve is much too reserved for me to tell anything at all tbh. but combined they make a very good team and now when to lean on each other. however i do find some of he nowave movement to be pretentious by nature and they are kinda in the crowd

@@danielstoddart They were nearing 40 in this interview. Yet hanging out with/pretending to be 20 year old skater hipsters. Always found that a little creepy. I guess Thurston liked being around that young stuff, so he could cheat on Kim? lol.
