This video just resolved my problem with a Pioneer MHV-190B. Just switch red with yeallow and it was fine!! Thanks a lot!

O...M...G. Thank you!! Spent 2 years driving my VW thinking it was just an ignition feature that I had to live with. Popped the stereo out of the dash, unplugged red/yellow clasps and plugged them in 'backwards'. Stereo instantly cured of dementia :D so happy right now!

I have a 2000 Saab 9-5 and my presets would not stay intact so I followed your advice and EUREKA it worked! I actually had to connect red to yellow and yellow to red to get the correct power orientation.

I had the same exact problem with a stereo system that I purchased from a seller on ebay. The messages that he sent back to me stated that I had the wiring wrong. When in fact I didn't. I had to swap the red wire and the yellow wire to get it to hold my station presets. All because the wiring harness was not made correctly from the manufacturer. But the seller is denying it. I have my system working now. But they are completely denying that this even happened. Unbelievable.... But thank you for this video. Because I sent the link to this video directly to the seller.

So mine does remember the memory about a 1/4 of the time. Then other times I jump in and have to manually turn the head unit on and reset everything. I replaced the batter and cleaned/ checked the grounds on the car

More common than I thought, happens on all sorts of different vehicles then? My Renault Clio was like this with my Pioneer head unit, swapped red and yellow and fixed :-)

I have this problem but because of my battery having issues during winter or me accidently running it dead or having to unhook a terminal, I don't know why they don't use a backup battery to keep the settings when your battery dies or gets unhooked, i wish they did it's really annoying

Youre a genius, my honda civic 92 has been having problems not being able to turn on sometimes. And I have been aware that I may have a wiring problem somewhere. When you told me to check for 12v constant on Yellow, I realized it was getting ground and would cut off each second! Just like the main relay. Not normal.

Had same issues with my mother in laws car which I own now. I took out the deck and switched the wires, now settings stay saved, thanks.

I have a 1998 mercedes benz e320 without the bose system and I used a harness from dnf which was supposed to work with my car and I connected everything correctly on the new stereo, but i am not getting any sound from my speakers. The stereo powers up.

Same issue here but my truck is a 2011 f150 and has a wire(red) coming from a fuse and i have to wire it with the yellow and red from the radio harness so my radio can turn on but it does not save settings already tried to color match every wire and nothing it wont even turn on like that

So can I just run a fuse tap from the fuse box (whichever location has constant) straight to the yellow cable? That should would right?

I have a stereo where red connects to yellow and yellow connects to red. If I had it the other way, the stereo would not turn off when key is off. Now that I have them switched, I manually have to turn on my radio everytime when I start my car. When the key is off, it turns off. None of my data saves the next time I turn on my car tho. Can someone help me. I would like my stereo to turn on when my car does.

Hi, i installed a radio in my late 80s Mitsubishi Lancer. I connected the yellow and red wire to one wire that comes from the car. The rest of the car wires are for the speakers and there is one earth wire. Everything works fine but the fact that everytime you remove the key and all the settings have been lost irritates me.Can someone help, thanks in advance

I have pioneer avh8650bt, It used to work fine but now it doesnt remember preset settings or color themes also doesnt turn on back camera when I put car in reverse. It remembers radio stations and time but doesnt remember any other settings... Please Help! What should I do to fix it ?

Can I hook up more than one ground to the harness ground? My vehicle has separate harnesses for each door speakers and a sub. So each one of those harnesses require a ground. I hooked all three up to the ground from the harness. I am not losing memory every time I turn off and on. Just sometimes. Did I do something wrong or is the problem to many connections to my ground? Thanks for your help as always.

My 2004 jetta wagon's stereo stoped turning on. and I know the stereo works the fuse is good the car fuse is good the engine bay fuse box seems to have nothing to do whith this .i Than used a multimeter to check on my wires by using the black wire as ground checked on the yellow wire and red wire. yellow wire is good and the red wire is not good so how can i bridge the red wire so my stereo turns on .?

It could also be the fuse on the yellow wire

01 expedition eddie bauer mach stereo system 3 plug wiring harness, stereo kenwood excelon ddx394sat! metra wiring 70-5701, the one crutchfield sells only has 2 plugs and a rca plug! wont save settings and starts at setup each time it turns on.wished you were in Columbus,GA i would have payed you to install it. thanks

I have a 1998 Honda civic and I installed a new stereo and before I slide it in and I tested it and everything worked but when I slide it in I get no stations now

make sure the antenna cable didnt come off when you slid it back in. I had the same exact problem once.

Hi. I’ve a problem with my stereo where my sister went in calibration settings and saved the settings and now the touch screen doesn’t work anymore... I have also tried to reset the stereo by clicking “reset” on stereo but it didn’t work, I’ve tried to do that over 50 times but no good results. I’ve also tried disconnecting the stereo from the car and waiting for minutes but it didn’t forget its memory... it didn’t reset... I don’t really know that to do anymore, can help please?

I have a deck that is wired correctly, and this deck sounds excellent..which is why I won't get rid of it, but due to internal problems that have recently happened, it now looses it's memory if the vehicle ignition key is switched off. So I am planning on wiring the batt 12v constant to the memory wire as well on the deck, and then I will make sure to turn off the deck via its power switch every time I leave my vehicle. In theory, my battery should be fine. However, I must ask.. will the parasitic draw on my battery still be the same? Thanks

I have a honda civic hatchback my deck does not save any settings even with demo mode off as well as the only way my deck works is if the head unit accessory wire and the power wire are bridge together to the only power wire coming from my car harness. how do I solve this issue so the deck will keep settings?

My Sony car sterio remembers the preset radio stations, but doesn't remember a) what station was switched on (always starts with static until i select a preset) and the time is always reverted back to 00:00 every time i turn the engine off/on. Would this resolution work for me? Thanks!

I got 1988 Nissan pickup truck that doesn’t have constant power. I guess this is because the original radio operated mechanically!

Well I guess you never worked on a 87 subaru DL station wagon.. Lol this was not backwards and I have several stereos, so its not the stereo. As for the harness, I had all the wires replaced because this issue is making me beyond mad.

Alpine comes to mind when I think of a company that makes good products all around. Their Type R speakers and sub's sound great and Alpine makes awesome amps and head units as well.

mostly anything that is CEA compliant is the best idea to go with. overall depends on how much your willing to spend with as well

Time changed so i set my stereo clock with it, but the damn thing keeps going back to the orginal time set... forward one hour. I know for a fact it's wired right. I'm about to run a freakin hammer thru it. Why the hell does it wanna go back forward one hour over and over? I set it and it stays there for a little while, then bam, right back again.

I've got the wiring correct, but cranking the vehicle brings the voltage down (memory stays if I don't crank) do you think a diode would work, or would I need a capacitor too?

where can I get 12v constant? I have a 93 Cheyenne, previous owner installed stereo himself and the stereo didn't save settings, so I replaced it because it was old and i thought it was the stereo itself. when I replaced it, I noticed that they wired the red and yellow wire from the stereo harness to one single wire coming from inside the dash somewhere. I did the same thing and the new stereo doesn't save settings also. Also, the cables are just twisted together there is no harness, idk If it was cut off or if this year truck doesn't have one but it's not there. what can I do to have my settings saved because it is really annoying having to redo the settings everytime I start the truck?

I own a pioneer aftermarket stereo and I work on my car quite a bit for fun. Every time I disconnect my battery to work on it, I lose all of my presets. Why can't they install a watch battery in these stereos to keep the basic settings in memory like a computer motherboard has until the battery is reconnected?

so i have this unusual problem where my touch screen dvd player in my car does not save which track (usb songs) i was at before. i have no problems with saving my radio stations, settings, etc. only song tracks from usb, cd, and sd card. it only happens sometimes. so sometimes it'd reset back to track 1 after switching my engine on. ive went back to the shop and exchanged to another one but it has the same issue. help please?
