When I record, it doesn't show the graphic of my recording and finally it doesn't record it. It shows my voice as offline file, what I have to do?

Im surprised they didn't add an option for doing it manually for all missing files (like reaper does on its own when its launched)

why does reaper make a million files for my song they all have numbers for names so I can either have my desktop filled with them or go through hundreds of files please help there's no more room on my home page

they're all waveform source files, best to create a folder named each project name to sort these out at the start of each session

Ok. I must be doing something wrong. I made a new folder in the reaper media folder where I saved a project and also put the media I intend to use. I followed your directions many times and it didnt work. Then somehow (probably by accident) it worked. Yay! Now I'm trying another file and it wont work. What am I doing wrong? This is so frustrating. I just want to work and I cant until figure this out.

Having the same issue all of a sudden, never had it before! I downloaded a file, didn't move it at all, and it's going into Reaper offline for some reason. When I hit Source Properties it tells me Unknown File Header, even though I have JUST imported the wav. I've tried importing other wav files with no issues, and I've tried renaming my file then importing it to no avail. The file plays in other programs. Got the Browse for new file pop up and selected the file, and STILL shows offline.

I found the solution to my problem, though not sure if it's the same as yours, but maybe worth looking into. In my case, the media I was trying to import had been compressed before I received it and that's why Reaper couldn't read it. Others were able to decompress it in GoldWave, but it does degrade the audio quality. It did make it readable however.

I moved my reaper projects to an external hard drive and deleted them from my CDrive and now Reaper won't load anything. Not sure how to fix since it don't recognize where they are. Sure hate to reinstall if I don't have to.

Hi, I've got the offline problem, but the file in question is a video. I'm trying to sync audio and video. I put the audio on reaper and it's fine. But then, when I try to add the video, it says offline. And even if I follow your procedure, the offline mark goes away but the video is not shown anyway. You have any suggestions?

maybe try copying file name and doing a search on your deasktop?

What is happening to me is I'm not changing the location of anything. one day the audio file is there and on another day it disappears 😣

YES. ME TOO. It takes like a week for me. All the files will be in their correct paths to the correct folder. I can save, close, open a new project, save, close, and reopen the first one just fine. BUT, a week later Reaper "loses" the files. What is going on here?

@@jordanwolff5243 Find one file. Move it into a new folder. Close the project. It will prompt, and fix all others as well. Then follow the reline tut.

What about if you have several files that are offline? Do you know of a solution to redirect them all at the same time to the correct location?

I believe it has to be done one at a time, hence proper file management before starting your work is important in this program

while editing in REAPER i couldnt upload the video that i had transferred from the computer via bluetooth and through usb also. the file is missing. it displayed “offline”. even the song from phone to computer too. anyone can help out?

Hello, I did not lose any file or anything because I'm just starting but when I try to import an already Audio file, it will say offline. I wonder if reaper is not reading the audio properly and if thats the case how do I get reaper to read it. Do I need an audio interface to do that. All im trying to do is import my audios so i can edit it and use it for my podcast. Please help. Thanks

it should import without an audio interface, maybe the drive location won't allow write access? With each imported file, reaper generates a peaks file in the same location as where the file was imported from.

I recorded a track yesterday and saved it in the Reaper project. Today it shows as offline. I don´t understand as this was not an imported file, it was an audio track recorded direct to the Reaper project. There is nowhere else it can be, so why is it offline'? Cheers!

If you move any of the waveform files that reaper creates, it will show it as offline

@@SonicOrbStudios Thank you for your reply. I didn´t move anything, just saved the project and closed Reaper. When I opened Reaper today it was off line. As far as I am aware, nothing was moved or changed. Thanks anyway :)
