Hey Brian and Cole. That was a chunk of Cattles that you sent to town there in one hit. I always had mixed feelings whenever we sent a load off. I would be happy that we had bought them on enough to make them profitable but also I was a little bit sad knowing what the future held for most of them, it's why we had them so I was o.k with that. I am glad you made a few bucks on them' I see that as testament to how well you look after them while they are in your care. The wipers on your truck, you could always bypass them with a toggle switch. I know its not a proper repair but it would give it a bit of 'farmer feel' Happy 4th July and Stay safe guys!!

Congratulations on making 20 bucks per head. I used to worry about losing money on every head till my accountant, Fat Louie, told me I could " make it up in volume ". He explained that multiplying 2 negatives makes a positive, so as long as you sell even numbers, you are probably ok. Louie is an awesome accountant. He has been so much more relaxed since his bankruptcy too. It's also great that the auctioneer said such nice things about Brian's cattles. When we sell, the auctioneer just says, " c'mon folks! Go ahead and buy his stock before he becomes an even bigger burden on society "

20 bucks a head.... suuuuuuuuucks. I don't know what his overhead costs are here but, my family owns about 3500 acres of private property in a semi arid mountain range. Running about 150 cows. The calves we sell out are usually 85% profit. We never have to purchase feed other than when we work them in the corrals. Plus the ranch was an inheritance so no payments there, that's a plus. I guess I have to mention too that the ranch is in Mexico... about an hour south of Nogales, Arizona... but all of our cattle gets imported here to the states through a middle man.
@Staki6908

@@Staki6908 Grass-fed, that means no feed grain , no hay , no fuel cost. Semi-arid rain, a little snow. privately owned, inherited no landlord rent. Feed and water, only when working the cattle. Maybe a week out of the year. A few boxes of ammo and rifle cleaning equipment, for predator control. I can see 85% profit. Ranchers used to be able to get close to that when they ran their cattle on BLM land. I mean Bureau of Land Management. Sure don't want to get that antonym or whatever they're called confused with the other BLM. Until the over regulatory government got a greedy and controlling feather up their backside. Demanding large acreage be fenced into smaller pastures for scheduled rotation , and then having to pipe water lines and drill Wells and I have tanks in each pastor. They started having to live from paycheck to paycheck like the rest of us landowners. Oops there I go again.

Great 👍 to see about selling the heifers. Due to the drought our female herd numbers are down, I really fret about that as how can we restock if we don’t have enough of the female herd. My nephew only likes steers, doesn’t like breeding, however if you don’t breed where are you going to get the steers from? Buy the steers by paying 💰 huge prices at market, raise them and get only a very little profit? Really enjoyed seeing full and raggedy sloppy at work. My sisters trucker is a diminutive female called Nerida who has her own trucking company. Her Stock Agent was another female Marilyn, who unfortunately has recently passed away. They both could hold their own surrounded in a male dominated industry, fearless women! My niece Elizabeth was going to take over the property, unfortunately she passed away, so my sister and her husband are still raising the 🐮 cattle. All the best with your farming endeavours.

Cole and Brian, really good choice of video for the 4th of July. Those of us who are older and gone through some things get pensive on holidays just thinking back to better times. It is a sad day for America when a farmer/rancher should have cleared $200.00 a head, minimum - on a fine herd of "cattles" as great, great, great grandpa Sonne would have said, but it really sums up the situation America is in. American business can't make a profit because of cheap imports, beef just being one example ( Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chinese beef from Nabibia ). But cheap is what the public demands and the government will oblige right up to the point where imports are all there is. A public beset by expensive hamburger would drive political change by whatever means necessary. The only time a people revolt is when they go to bed hungry - keep the bellies full and keep control - the political technique developed by the Romans 2,000 years ago still works today. American farmers are in too deep to quit, but see where it is going and what the future holds. I appreciate your situation!

@lewislindsey1946
@lewislindsey1946 4 жыл бұрын
@@diana7043 It is hard to do! The laws have been quietly changed to make it easy to hide the country of origin of many types of foods and hide even if the contents are actually what the container says they are. The American ranching industry has been targeted to be eliminated in favor of foreign beef because a country that can feed itself is dangerous to the interests of those who would like to see the USA humbled. At this stage, unfortunately, it cannot be stopped. The problem is not oversees, the traitors are here among us - making lots of money. Even our great President Donald J. Trump probably has no idea how far and deep this goes. Wake Up America!

THANKS for an informative video, which also shows how difficult it has to be for farmers to succeed in the 21st century! We wish you all could succeed without working such long hours every day; it's obvious that you have to love farming or you wouldn't stay at it! We wish you sustained success!!!!

With that really stuck on manure on the cement it is necessary to angle the blade that much sometimes. If it is wet and loose you are correct.
The baler is fixed! Repair cost how much?
