Good interview Sonny Boy. I don't want to come if in a bad way I just wanted to say Varrio Cypress Park is actually a Northeast L.A. Gang not not an East L.A. Gang because they're in the Cypress Park district so they would fall under the N.E.L.A. side. I hope there's a part 2 to this interview. Keep up the good work American Cholo you, Gil & Boo Boo.

Aye did you guys ever go at it with Venice suicidal punk's, or La Mirada punk's? Suicidal was more of a varrio really. White dude's, but they were clicked with VX3, and La Mirada punk's are the racist fool's and are still around to this day. I used to watch them and varrio La Mirada go at it on Foster road in between Rosecrans and imperial. Thanks for the reply in advance 😂

I am an OG from BPO and we were not racist at all. We had Mexicans, Asians, Armenians and White all mixed together. Sonny always tells this story and does not tell the truth.We never used swastikas ever.He needs to do his homework. Yup! Sonny is a fukkin lame story teller. I'm from North Hollywood Boyz and my cousins are OG BPO 22s from back in the early 80s. I use to roll with them and Ziggy, Lalo (Lito), Joker (clepto) , and Erick (arson) and we would run into the Elmwoods and it was always us 90%of the time getting down with them and or them running. There was no swastikas or racist shit going on it was straight up gang banging. And from what I saw them elmwoods couldn't keep up the BPOs would take it to the next level and they were with the business. BPO was half Mexicans anyways with a few Asians and others. I don't know why this foo is making shit saying they were just sum racist white boys that were affiliated with the cops lol ...... if anything the cops put more BPOs in prison than any other burbank gang back in the 80s and early 90s. Crazy his perception on things but I was there and it wasn't like that at all!

Early 80’s BPO was around during the LADS, FFF, Suiicidal, LMP and more. A lot of these punk rock gangs were actually mixed white and Latino. Some more of one or the other.

Running to payphones, riding the RTD (rough, tough and deadly lol), and the back yard gigs were always in East LA. That was when if you looked punk, or had a mohawk, spikes or shaved head, you were throwing chingasos every day because of how you looked.

@@XXSomeDudeXX All them white gangs from LA county pretty much disappeared after the 90s. PENI still around. They started in Long Beach but are now heavily based in OC. I grew up in LA and OC the only white gangmembers Ive ever met on the streets were from LMP and PENI.

@@jayripper7272 Lots of punk gangs from the 80's through 00s. Hollywood LADS was deep from 80-85 and still around today. FFF died out after a murder happened and the chota began targeting them. BPO switched to Sureno in the late 90's I think. LMP, Belcher Street Punks and Skull Busters were in the streets from 80's to present day and mostly Woods with some South Siders. Circle One Family was deep in the 80s-90s. South Bay Skins, Carson Skins and the Firm were mid 80's to somewhat present. And the Suicidals, can't forget them. They had it rough in the pinta because they allowed all races. They fought with everyone, including enemy's of Venice 13. Pagan Clan and Kactus Bunch were from 90's to mid 00's. Peni started as a punk gang, name was taken from one of my favorite punk bands Rudimentary Peni. They weren't Woods in the late 80's, punks of several races were Peni. Some stuff happened with SS LADS (not to be confused with Hollywood LADS), and they broke off and joined Peni, changed it to an acronym for Public Enemy Number 1 and added the DS for Death Squad. They ran/run Wood and backed Surenos backed Surenos. You also had KAOS13, Santa Fe Springs Family and SGV Unity........many more but I'm tired of fat fingering the phone. A lot of the punk gangsters joined MC's like Mongols, Vagos, Hells Angels, etc. Today theres still Suicidals, LMP and PDS. Hollywood LADS still around but they don't bang, they all got families. Edited to include MMC. They were brought into existence by one of the Bad Religion heads. Speaking of BR, all of them at that time were in Hollywood LADS.

OMG, I stumbled onto this video. I was a member of B. P. O. from 1982 to 1986 just before I enlisted and had my life saved by The Marines. It was normal to be out bangin' around, going to shows, getting into it deep. I was stabbed at the New Years Eve 1983 show at The Stardust Ballroom which used to be on Sunset Bl. just West of Vine. There is a Home depot there now. The Dead Kennedy's, T.S.O.L., Black Flag, The Dickies and Suicidal Tendencies played that night. And OH YEAH, WE WERE NOT A RACIST GANG. All we wanted to do is drink beer, smoke weed and go to parties and punk shows. NONE of "Us" were tatted with Nazi Symbolism, NOT ONE OF US.

@@streetgangs Thanks, but I don't live in Glendale any more. After my enlistment I got Clean/Sober 12 Oct. 1990, been that way ever since. I moved to that area in '93, a little duplex at 419 Irving Ave. just inside Glendale right in the heart of Westside Loco's turf. I never had a problem from the Elmwood boys or W.S.L.'s. I remember when Pavelka was killed, and OMG, Ofc. Duran was like the worst Gestapo cop ever!! He would do the same thing to us, roll up, tell us that FFF was hates us and how much they wanted to jump any of us if we were caught alone. The plan inside B.P.D. was to make the gangs kill each other off, because Constitutionally, they couldn't touch anyone unless they were caught doing a crime.

lol @ the pictures of punk rockers you chose for this video...Those look like east coast new wave dorks. Not representative of what west coast hardcore kids looked like back then. Some of them even adopted a gangster look to them and hit up their punk gangs like hoods do. some of the punk rock gangs turned into Sur hoods...LADS, and even the gang he mentions BPO im pretty sure turned into Barrio Primero...can anyone confirm? The Hardcore Punk gangs in Southern Ca is kind of a forgotten chapter in Southern CA gang culture. FFF, BPO, SUICIDALS, LADS, LMP, etc. They mostly weren't 'white' gangs either. Most of them were mixed with Chicanos too with some being majority one or the other.

Yeah, BPO went Sureno. The original LADS (Hollywood 80-85) never went Sureno. SS LADS did have quite a few that either joined Sureno gangs, NLR or PDS, the remaining SS LADS rocked Woods and Surenos.

There is actually 3 generations of WS LADS,AND WE STILL AROUND !

Burbank Punk Organization was NOT a racist gang. Most teenagers back in the day hung out with all types of kids. BPO for example was from Burbank an almost exclusively white area but were friends with latino gangs.

The B P O had huge tags along the LA river channel off the 134. I remember as a kid seeing the white boys tags - some fff tags too. Different than the cholo shit springing up around the Valley at the time, and people were taking notice. My parents got divorced when I was young, I grew up west of Downtown L.A.with my mom and siblings. My dad moved to Burbank and got remarried and started a new family. I remember visiting my dad in the summer time and noticing BPO tagged up on the walls,this was mid 80's. My half brother explained to me who they were. Coming from ghetto part of LA where you had gangs every few blocks( PBS, 18ST,HPS/DE,CRS,ERS,MCS/MCLC,DFS,BTN L'S,OPHS,C-14,MS) just to name a few. BPO was kind of a joke to me considering Burbank was such a quiet suburb compared to where I lived and grew up.

Cool interview. I am subscribed to the American Cholo channel run by Gil who was known as Stranger de North Hollywood Boyz, & Sonny Boy & Boo Boo formerly de Burbank Elmwood Rifa. This interview is good with the exception that Sonny said Cypress Park was an East LA Gang but they actually are in Northeast LA so they would fall under the N.E.L.A. side. Also Burbank Trece is the oldest Varrio in Burbank but I don't think they completely died out they just aren't as active as they probably once were.
