About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

Carl Burnett show humor reflected the late 1960s, just as to days t.v humor reflect the 20,00. Please remember back then you had laugh in and The smother brother show, which was a bit edgy for the time. Carol would express certain issues like pollution at the end of the show

Yeah that was hilarious - obviously, Sonny and Cher were quite a few steps better than Carol and Harvey in terms of their musical ability and that's what made it so funny. I remember when Sonny died 25 years ago and Cher spoke at his funeral. They were long divorced but you could tell that the bond between them was eternal. It was heartbreaking.

@@TwiZoneInc Sonny took a 2nd rate rock singer, found a narrow range in which she could sound good and worked to make her reach her limits in that range and wrote songs that worked for them both.. ...I've said this before....Lyle Waggoner TRULY never received his proper accolades being a part of this CLASSIC TV Series; he was handsome, but we was VERY adept at the comedic timing needed for his parts, and showed versatility in his singing, dancing, & acting...a TRUE talent, that should ALWAYS be added with Tim, Vicki & Harvey..... The problem was Lyle left the series around 1974, so his shorter tenure I think did him in a little bit. He should have stayed with the series until the end. Harvey actually also left the series before the very end, that was why DICK VAN DYKE was added to the cast but for some reason that didn't work out, even though you would think it would be a smash!

We all die & that was decades ago & Cher is still rocking. There is an affectation on KZfaq of RIP no matter decades or decade ago. There is a time & place for it in a recent death or in a family remembrance of a loved one but here it has become overused & lessens its proper use. There was a discussion about Ray Harryhausen film but one person made his fair comment then out comes, yes, RIP Harry. Bonkers
