Saw him last night at LDLC Arena stadium in Lyon, France playing with Eric Clapton. He was AWESOME!!

I met Sonny in elementary and eventually we went to HS tiogether in Atlanta… Is Dad was my first music teacher… He’s been great since he could hold a drum stick!!!

I saw him in 1988 with EWF. It was the first live show I ever saw and even as a kid I recognized virtuosity. The whole band and show was incredible but when he was announced I made sure I remembered his name. I have had the privilege of following his career and have seen him live several times since that first show. Monster player. Just off the charts brilliant as a player and seems like a genuinely great human being. Thank you Sonny.

That roll that starts at :08 seconds and culminates in intensity especially at :17 sec is probably the single greatest roll of it's kind I have ever seen. The finger control and transition into the hand control is so perfectly practiced that it almost looks like it's CGI is so UN-real looking !

He's better than Neil Pert & most all other Jazz & Rock drummers combined. He doesn't need all the extra pieces/equipment. Pretty much a basic drum kit is all he needs to apply his craft.
