Still sounds like the first time. I wanted to be a go go dancer I was 9 years old! 😂😂😂 My sister, aunt, and I danced to this song. We had a blast when my parents were out of the house. We turned the stereo up!! Time won't Let me!!

I grew up In Cleveland and knew Sonny. On the record Tommy Baker is on trumpet at the end hitting those high notes. Tommy did all the horn arrangements which were added after the main song was recorded. RIP aka Rock In Peace S.G..
@basher51072 жыл бұрын
Your right Garrison,Tommy Baker was the hidden talent behind the brass and the Help Me Girl tune got its horns from Chuck Mangione and Tom King was a great producer and writer,vocalist and rhythm guitarist Rip,Sonny Geraci,Tom King,Chet Kelly and Walt Nims

No performer put so much into each performance as Sonny Geraci. Watch him - it's music and stage presence at it's best. How many times do you figure Sonny performed this song in public over the years? Hundreds, maybe thousands. (Yes, I saw one of them) But watch him - he's not only putting everything he has into it, he's enjoying it. I still remember the first time I heard 'Precious and Few' when I was stationed overseas. It came on the jukebox, and as the first words came out of the speakers, I shouted out loud 'that's Sonny Geraci' ! Nobody knew what I was talking about. I wish Sonny could still be with us, not only for our enjoyment, but for his. He is missed, but his legacy lives on. He is class.

Roger Melin So, you knew him?
@rmelin132314 жыл бұрын
@@JohnoscarV No, I only wish that I had known him. I'm just a huge fan, and always have been.
@basher51072 жыл бұрын
Sonny Geraci never wrote music or lyrics,just an avg vocalist who was fortunate Enough to strike lightening Twice with TWLM (Tom King/ Chet Kelly) and Walt Nims wrote precious and few. In the Outsiders catalog Geraci could ruin beautiful tunes by being off key (since I lost my baby) check it out. Tommy Baker and his horn Along with others in the brass section we’re always excellent Geraci gets way too much credit for the tunes he had nothing to do with.
@rmelin132312 жыл бұрын
@@basher5107 I don't argue with what you say, to an extent. Many successful performers were not song writers - Elvis, Bing, Sinatra, Jack Jones, the names are endless. And they were all in the right place at the right time. Every one of them (unless they had "connections"). As for the singing voice - it's entirely subjective. I bought all the Outsiders albums, and they were not great quality, largely due to the engineering and production efforts. And frankly, I love listening to them, mostly because I like Sonny's singing voice. Always have since the first time I heard it. And you're right about "Since I Lost My Baby", (a good example) but I'm willing to bet Sonny could have sung it in concert right on key. Who knows?
@basher51072 жыл бұрын
@@rmelin13231 Elvis,Bing,Sinatra were all pretty much using session players they never met Geraci was a part of a band,avg at best.
