Sometimes, you just come across something you know you'll feel. This, was just that. We both lost our fathers that very same year, mine was in February, he was 34, to cancer. And this is something I feel, on another level. I was lost myself after that, and took a long time to recover. Even today I still feel that loss, the pain, all of it, and I don't believe many of us actually overcome it, we just learn to cope. But, anyone who has, is, or will deal with this, the biggest thing that helped me was thinking if I believed he would want me missing fun and adventures to cry and hurt. And after thinking that, it was the first smile I put on in a year. Life never gets easier, we just grow, adapt, and learn to overcome.

The day before his grandsons birthday and this was the worst Christmas. He was 87. I'm 46. He stayed married to mom till death. 50 years. He left so fast. But not before I played and sang your song on my acoustic by his bed in ICU. He thought it was mine and when I saw the joy in his eyes at the thought that I would write him a song.
