Wow. I have been listening and appreciating folk music for nearly 60 years and "Hard Times Come Again No More" is among my favorite songs. This cover is the best I can ever remember hearing. I have played it over and over for days. I believe this is how Stephen Foster meant for his great song to be performed, and heard. Thank you, Sontas.

Thanks for listening

I don't think Foster imagined this would be sung with bagpipes though.

How is this a cover, did Stephen Foster record the original?
@danielfrei310911 ай бұрын
Well, seeing as he wrote this song in 1854, I doubt he made a recording of it. @@graememiller3798

Hearing this sung in Ireland gives it a whole other resonance...

But sadly it’s not an Irish tune. It’s a parlor song written in America.

@@matthewfox3163 Of course. My very point was the communality of experience. Written in one country, meaningful in another.

Maybe the best, at least second best, rendition of this song I ever heard. Great rythym and instrumentals, in addition to excellent singer.

Lovely instrumental accompaniment and vocally a truly wonderful version, although I have been in love with the late Jim Glaser’s a cappella version for many years. I think it may also here on KZfaq. As a Scot I love the bagpipes here. 💜🏴.

People who post songs on KZfaq should include somewhere the songwriter(s), in this case American Stephen Foster.
