Thanks for the video. I purchased this camera new ten years ago. I dropped it last week and killed it. I just got off Ebay and bought a used one, camera only, for less than 60 bucks. I use this camera for all my youtube videos. This camera give you the ability to give your friends a copy of that cool video before you split up and head home.

For some of my older videos, I used a camera that my parents used to film me as a baby. This camera was at least from 2004. It didn't even output to mp4 (which might not have existed at the time).

I have a HandyCam and got it new in around 2008 or 2009 and the camera worked like it should and I made many videos at the time using it and put it on the shelf after a year of using it. I finally took it back out and plan on using it again since it's quality is great.

Found a relatively new 610 this weekend. It was leftovers from a garage sale. Let me pick from the leftovers and this Cam with a few batts and a charger. Still works great, zooms great.

i like their retro feel and use them to transfer my old DV tapes to my pc. Very delicate machinery-use care, treat delicately.

I have another model of handy cam and it also records on mpg I'm doing a video quality test on 2 cameras after watching this video to make 1 my main camera My model number is the DCR-SX33E which has a sd card slot. Good video as always

My first camcorder was the Sony HDR-CX100 I still actually still use it till this day because of how great it is I think color reproduction on my camcorder is fine but usually canon has better reproduction but Sony has better auto focus then canon iPhones you really need alot of lighting to even get decent color reproduction personally I would go with Sony not the camcorder in the video tho

Found my Carl Zeiss in my moms closet lol. will definetly be using this on vacations for the vintage feel, but question, when exporting videos from the camera did you use the actual sony blank CD or did regular blanks work as well?

Regarding the DVD650: What Quality setting did you try it with and did you also test with Mini DVDs?

The memory card it uses is the despised memory card pro duo which was also used in the PSVita People absolutely hated this proprietary format since it was a lot more expensive than SD cards, eventually Sony buckled in and made miniSD and microSD adapters for it.

I need help with some questions...1: What happen's if your battery runs out of power while you are in the middle of filming? Do you lose your footage or is it still there while you are charged again? 2: If you were filming for say 3 minutes and needed to stop for a few hours...Do you need to finalise the disc first to save your footage or can you continue recording from where you left off once you restart the camera? 3: Has anyone used non Sony mini DVD's to record with? Were they successful? Sony DVD's are no longer available in my country but there are TDK mini's or Prodisc Mini's that I could get. Thank you for looking at my 3 questions :) I am hoping to buy this type of camera

mpg/mpeg compression is still widely used today, mpeg-4 is typically shortened as mp4. mpeg-1 is the compression used on VCDs while mpeg-2 is the compression used on DVDs.

Hey what`s up Daniel I have the SONY Handyman 650 I don`t use it as much and I need to get a new memory-stick. It has`nt been touch since 2016 and here it`s 2020 bout to be 2021 and I`m pretty sure still works.

I say do both: use what you have on hand, the SONY DVD and learn to appreciate what it is, and THEN get a newer one or even a new. Having used the older one you might more appreciate the step up. Thank you!

Watching this video in 60 fps you can tell that the Canon camera had the least smooth motion capture of all of them. Objects got super blurry as they moved. The iphone and sony cameras didn't have that problem so objects in motion were much more clear to see.

I currently have a similar camcorder (a 2008 Sony Handycam DCR-SR45) and the videos recorded by it aren't the best, but (in my opinion) they look pretty decent, although the videos have a bit of visual noise sometimes. My camcorder also records in 480p, and I've transferred videos from it to my computer before, and I've watched KZfaq videos in 480p before, and in my personal opinion, 480p is pretty decent video resolution. Obviously not the best by today's standards, but pretty ok. In my opinion, it doesn't look that much different from 720p (unless I were a snob with a microscope)
