One correction: Sony a6100 has unlimited 4K recording just like its big brother a6400. There is no 30 min recording limitation on this camera.

It’s amazing the confidence and knowledge of this KZfaqrs, be able to talk in front of the camera and not be shy, talking point and just knowledgeable, imagine how ppl are before portable cameras, the ideas ppl had for great content but couldn’t bring it out to the masses, amazing how technology have advance and readily available to the masses.

John TL He also uses a C200. I know his shtick is that he is not a professional and just an everyday dad who shoots an action camera for family and fun, but he has clearly outgrown the folksy beginnings and is a serious KZfaq professional. And like all professionals he discovers the need for different gear for different circumstances. I myself shoot a mix of Sony AX53, AX100, A7SII, Panasonic DVX200, and GoPro for video. And as a normal part of business I am about to downsize my still gear and get the A6600 + E mount APSC lenses and 90D to get my Canon lenses earning money with video, plus my first 360 camera. I am a fanboy of Sony and Panasonic for video, a fanboy of Canon for stills, a fanboy of GoPro for action cameras. It is normal to love various brands in a busy studio. The Everyday Dad is no different.

My husband has bought me this camera for Christmas-I helped him choose it!-so I am trying to learn as much about it as I can before I “unbox” it on Christmas morning. 🎄 Thanks for the heads up about image stabilization. I mean, we’re going to use it for vlogging, so that WILL be important, but I am hoping that the fact that you are NOT limited to 30 minutes video time and can charge directly as you shoot will make up for what it lacks. Thanks, again! 🙌🏾🎅🏾

Really, at this point in the game, as good as the new a6100 looks, you can get a second hand a6400 with the kit lens for less than the price of a body-only a6100 brand new. The a6400 is still so new, pretty much any one you buy is going to be in good to excellent condition. That's where I'll be investing my money when I can afford to upgrade. ✌️

The indoor white balance made you look very yellowish. There was as similar issue with your outdoor vlogging demo. Sometimes it looked excellent and sometimes it looked too warm. Was the white balance on auto? I have a 6400 and I'm considering the 6100 as a B camera.

It should've been priced under $650 to separate from A6400, the prosumer market, in order to compete in the entry-level market with M50, G85, EM10iii, etc.

Just upgraded my a6000 to a a6100. I don’t do a lot of video but do some video. Will probably stick with this camera for a long time.

I think the A6100 is the end of line searching for the most complete budget camera. The camera that can finally replace the legendary Panasonic Lumix G85. I have been saving up for a long time, hopefully they price the Sony sensibly in India. My current camera doesn't have Continuous AF in video, so AF never bothered me. G85 it was till now, we just gotta decide between IBIS(Lumix) and better High ISO performance (Sony).

M50 doesn't compete with this as the M50 shoots 1080p and upscales it as 4k and Sony shoots in 6k and Downscales it to 4k.

the most reason i think is only on color grading, a6400 have feature to the log /hlg / blah blah blah... maybe u need editing to specific into ur need then 6400 is the answer

A6100 body is only 650$ during this Thanksgiving weekend. A6400 body is 900$, so the price difference is 250$. I am upgrading from A6000 and I know the build quality is good.

if you just want photography, video straight out of camera, i think a6100 is for you. if you are more to videography, a6400 is for you because of picture profiles. i don't know who's a6600. a6600 + 16-55mm G = a7iii + tamaron

Sadly it is just a budget camera in the US, in Europe the A6100 is around 899 Euros for the body only (without kit lens) funny thing the A6400 is 921 Euros for the body only... Sony's pricing strategy in the EU is plain bonkers :(

Why people use these big cameras with the really poor stabilisation , get a GoPro or pocket or iPhone 11 chuck the big stuff away and keep them for photos only ....o you could add a big lump of a gimbal ,really cool to have a big setup , not .....

I agree vlogging doesn't require a camera. A webcam is even fine, or your phone if you prefer walking around while talking to yourself. I guess youtubers just make so much money they need stuff to blow it on.

Are you primarily using the a6000 for video? Be aware of the lack of image stabilization. Maybe the a6400 would be a better choice.

Sony makes a new camera that is a substitute for 6000 and instead of reducing the price of 6000, the price for 6000 remains the same and increases the price for 6100. Please....

I would say that the lack of IBIS is a dealbreaker for me, but there is also the issue of the flip-up screen conflicting with any microphone you put in the hot shoe. Though the lack of IBIS really isn't an issue, because the Sony IBIS doesn't seem to work anyway. All the test vlogging video I've seen from the A6600 is extremely jittery and jumpy even with IBIS turned on. It's so disappointing, because the Sony A6000 series are so good at so many other things. If they had usable stabilization, they would be great for vlogging.

If you don’t plan to go full frame soon or on a budget, I would say go for m50 you can get a mic like Rode Video Micro and a tripod or gorilla pod for the price difference. Also M50 is unexpectedly good at photography.

The CrApNon M50? The one with fake 4K (1080p video upsaceled to heavy cropped 4K video), with no dual pixel AF in 4K, nor 1080p, at 120fps???? Is that what you are talking about LOL The only camera that can maybe rival the A6100, is the great Fuji X-A7, wich is cheaper...
