Thanks for this video! I guess this means that this camera isn’t suitable for long Twitch streams using OBS (5-7 hours at a time)? That’s disappointing as the low light and autofocus seem so nice on this camera, but good to know.

Great video! Question: Did you notice any difference between the latency in USB vs. HDMI? I expect the USB to have less latency, which would be important for Zoom/ Teams meetings

Thank you. That's a good question and unfortunately, I didn't really think to test that. I didn't realize that it might be an issue specifically with conference calls as I only tried it for solo live streaming

I've just recently purchased the A6700 and was wondering what firmware version you were using. I saw another video that mentioned after the latest firmware update, the camera was no longer heating up. I'm curious if your tests were done with the new firmware? Otherwise, thanks for the video, great work. Appreciate the info.

The tests in this video were done with the updated firmware. I did not notice any significant improvements to heat management with the newer firmware

It still overheats. I'm returning mine. I'm on firmware 1.02. the 4K webcam at 30 is a gimmick.

curious if the camera would last longer if you used an external battery source that you could plug in? That way the usb wouldn't be trying to charge as well as data transfer.

Maybe, but people typically don't want loud fans near their audio, so I guess it depends how close it is to the microphone

I curious what cable you had working with video streaming on the FX30 that didn't work with the A6700. USB C cables are notoriously complicated and notoriously bad at making their complexity clear to end-users. I doubt the A6700 is any more finicky than any other device that has a base requirement of 10 Gbps or greater transfer rate. The FX30 documentation specifies a 10 Gbps USB transfer rate (AKA USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2). Many/most cheap USB C cables don't support this speed. A lot of the cheaper USB C cables actually only support the USB 2.0 transfer rate of 0.48 Gbps. Maybe the FX30 unofficially supports 5 Gbps USB while the A6700 doesn't.

Not sure. I just know that a couple cables that didn't work on the a6700 worked on the FX30. That's why I just wanted to recommend people specifically look for the 3.2 Gen 2 cable, so they'd be covered regardless. Maybe I should have cut out the comment about finnicky cables since I'm not certain what the issue is

@@PhillipRPeck It's not *impossible* that there's something finicky about the camera, it's just that there are so many things about USB C cables that can be different/wrong that it's more likely that it was the cables. Without more testing, I would just say "make sure you get a cable that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 as Sony specifies - not all cables do".

What about using a dummy battery? It seems to me that the battery usage and heating up is the main culprit in addition to the scree

I wouldn’t consider it a con that it doesn’t have 24fps in streaming mode…most people watch live streams on their phone, tablet, or monitor, which for the most part are 60Hz displays. Streaming 24fps to those devices causes annoying judder. I guess it’s a con if you just want the option, but if it plays back weird on 90% of displays…

I know at least some creators who like to stream in 24. And it’s odd that steaming in 24 would cause judders where 25, 15, or 12.5 wouldn’t. Also, lots of other content is displayed at 23.98 fps on the same displays…

Yes 30fps is preferable for videogame streamer .even better if you can go up to 60fps which is matching with videogame fps/ vsync. Meanwhile streamer with filmmaking/videographer background would prefer 24 fps

@@PhillipRPeck I see judder with 25, 15, 12.5…literally anything that isn’t a multiple of 30, I see it when there’s a lot of movement on screen, like a drone flyover, at least on anything that’s 60Hz display. I see judder on 25fps content on 120hz displays as well. If I don’t want to see judder with a 24fps video, I have to watch it on my 120hz TV’s KZfaq app. I might just be hyper sensitive to it. Lucky me eh? Haha. But if it’s just a talking head video where there’s not much movement, sure, 24fps.

@@adhi_atma yeah I get that, I do animation and video work. It’s just so bizarre to me, who’s hyper sensitive to judder, that all these creators are making content at 24fps, and most devices they are viewed on are still 60Hz, like phones, tablets, computer monitors (unless high end gaming monitors), and the judder is apparent. That being said, if it’s just a talking head video, the judder isn’t noticeable as there isn’t much difference in frame to frame. A lot of motion/movement, like a drone video for example, the judder drives me crazy at 24fps (unless I watch it on 120hz tv with KZfaq app).
