Can you do a video going over how the TV channels and guide will look for Tv channels broadcast in the ATSC 3.0 now that the firmware has been updated on the Bravia X900H? I am in a test market for the ATSC 3.0 and cannot see a difference in the channels and 1080i is the best the antenna is currently receiving. Thanks

Really looking forward to the VRR Mode Guide Video for the 900H/XH90 coming out this Spring 2021. Or is it now Winter 2021???????????? Fantastic TV. Lovely PQ and the Dolby Vision is great but the lack of your promised VRR Update takes the shine of this TV because the VRR capability was one of the main deciding reasons I bought it, along with my RTX 3080.

Software updates are released at different times depending on the operator, market, region, or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when the update will be available for your TV. In the meantime, please make sure that your TV is connected to the internet and the Automatic Software Update setting is set to on to keep the software updated to the most current version. @@SonySupportUSA Thank you Romeo for your reply. Unfortunately it's a rather generic reply and pretty much the same response I have had from Sony Support UK. I'll assume communicating with Sony Enginners at HQ on a general time frame for the VRR rollout is harder than NASA communicating with the Voyager Probes 13 billion miles away! So still no clearer idea when to expect the Firmwate. Again. Thank you.

Where I can see, which picture resolution and additional formats the TV is actually displaying for Netflix (and Disney and Amazon)? Also does the screen show whether Dolby Vision or Atmos are played? (Sony Bravia XR 55A80J)

Hi Florian Dickgreber, for streaming services apps (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.), the TV, streaming app, and selected content must support the Dolby Vision format. In most situations, there is a logo or tag that will indicate that the content is available in the Dolby Vision format. I have a Sony Bravia television, with an older Sony remote. It has the Netscape button, but no settings button. I have looked extensively for the Netflix calibrated mode in all the menus, but I am unable to locate it. I have also checked for software updates to my TV, but it appears to be up to date. ONLY when watching Netflix programs, I will often see major color shifts when then the film cuts to a different shot, and also within a single camera shot. As a cinematographer, this appears to be a HUGE white balance shift, and it extremely annoying. I would love to get this resolved. BTW, I have disabled power saving modes, ambient light sensing mode, and use the cinema standard viewing mode, but the annoying color shift remains. Again, ONLY when watching Netflix content.

great job! I have another question about my new (2 day old) Sony Bravia XR A80J 65" TV that I've not been able to get help with. I'm hoping you can help me figure this out. Initially I had a Google Chromecast device connected to my new TV before learning my TV has built-in Chrome. So i disconnected the Chrome device but i can't figure out to enable the built-in Chrome in my TV so i can cast to it. Any ideas??

I have the xr65a80j. Never liked the netflix mode when scrolling through the picture settings. Last night I hit the enter button for netflix mode and after 1 minute I was sold. Far better experience over the Imax setting I used in the past. I really wish this option was available for all content

We have a Verizon Fios account and Netflix boots up (albeit slowly) on our Sony Bravia tv. BTW our Bravia tv works on an Android OS. The problem we have is extreme color flickering when playing most, but not all Netflix movies. The colors shift as if the tv is randomly being set to radically different color temperatures. This ONLY happens with Netflix and is very annoying. I have looked for the “Netflix Calibrated Mode” option, but it does not appear in the menus on my Bravia model. I have tried factory resets and various tv monitor settings, but nothing has any effect.

Anyone know what’s better, Netflix Calibrated Mode or Dolby Vision? I have the new X90J. I wasn’t aware of the Netflix Calibrated Mode until this video, however when I normally play a Netflix movie, if it supported Dolby Vision, it automatically set it to that mode. Does Netflix Calibrated Mode override Dolby Vision or do they work at the same time? Which is actually better of one or the other, Netflix Calibrated or Dolby Vision?

You can play movies recorded in Dolby Vision HDR format on devices that support Dolby Vision hardware while the Netflix calibrated mode allows you to experience picture quality close to a filmmaker's vision and intent. Disable NCM. It’s too dark. Use Dolby Vision bright and tweak the other settings to your liking. When NCM is enabled, it doesn’t let you tweak the settings. Use color temperature expert 1 for most accurate picture.

I have calibrated mode on and the Netflix all says my connection is 262mb and everything is still blurry. My TV says my signal strength is excellent. Is there anything else I can do?

@Jay F, thank you for reaching out with your concern. All TVs have an aspect ratio (The ratio of the width to the height of an image or screen). Current model LCD or LED TVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 1.78:1. This is much wider than older TVs that were 4:3 or 1.33:1. The reason that you end up seeing black bars on some TV shows and movies is that many films and shows on Netflix were, and are, made in different ratios (usually wider) than what your TV supports. I believe dolby vision only works via a specific hdmi port on the tv? Maybe hdmi 1 or 2. Also I think you need to turn it on via the hdmi signal format in the settings menu. Good luck and hope this may help?

@@SonySupportUSA In order to select Netflix Calibrated Mode with my A80J I need to skip steps 3 & 4 and just select “picture settings.” When I select “settings” Netflix closes and the option is gone. So it’s steps 1,2,5,6 for me 🤷‍♂️

@@SonySupportUSA Hi Romeo let me start by saying thanks for replying I understand what you are saying but I'm very disappointed with this Sony X90J set my other two TV's which is a 46" & 40" has a zoom and wide button I can use when needed to adj screen ratios is there any fit or software update to overcome this problem with the X90J it's really upsetting having a big screen TV and only viewing 2/3 of the screen Sony really need to address this issue Regards Richard

It has to be a Netflix original. Otherwise, it wasn't Netflix that made it it, so there isn't a Netflix calibrated mode, since they didn't calibrate it

Netflix calibration mode not on my new Sony A80j. In it's place was Auto Picture Mode. I turned that on and low voice & load sound evened out (FINALLY).

To access Netflix Calibration after pressing the quick settings button you need to go to the third along "Picture Settings" and not the first "Settings" menu.

Got the Sony xr90j, Netflix app has a lot of Dolby vision shows but they look dark and washed out, with a greenish wash over the screen, any help would be appreciated

Yes i also tested that colour washed out too even set to Netflix calibrate mode too.

When viewing Dolby Vision content at home in an environment that's not the same as a dark studio, the picture may appear dark or washed out. Changing your settings while using the Dolby Vision mode may improve these symptoms. · TV with Dolby Vision Bright mode 1. On the supplied remote, press the HOME button. 2. Select the Settings icon. 3. Under Picture mode, select Dolby Vision Bright. TV without Dolby Vision Bright mode 1. On the supplied remote, press the HOME button. 2. Select the Settings Image removed by sender. gear icon. 3. Select Picture settings → Advanced settings. Set the following settings: · Under the Brightness tab Brightness = Max Contrast = Max Gamma = 0 (Set to 1 if mid-level brightness is still low) Black level = 50 Black adjust = Medium Adv. contrast enhancer = Medium (Set it to Low if you want more black details) Auto local dimming = Medium · Under the Color tab Color = 60 Color temperature = Neutral Live Color = Medium I hope this helps! Current model LCD or LED TVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 1.78:1. This is much wider than older TVs that were 4:3 or 1.33:1. The reason that you end up seeing black bars on some TV shows and movies is that many films and shows on Netflix were, and are, made in different ratios (usually wider) than what your TV supports. How come when I go to turn ON Netflix Calibrated Mode going to Settings, Display and Sound, Picture as soon as I am pressing on picture it takes me to the TV channels? It spits me out.

@@SonySupportUSA I have the A80J. I finally got it resolved over the weekend. I was going into settings instead of picture settings and now I am able to see it. Don't know if I like this mode since it makes the picture darker but the option is there for whoever likes this mode. Thank you!

I just bought the Sony Bravia XR65X90J 2021 Model XR65X90CJ at Costco in the USA. Day one, I was disappointed with it. User interface was outdated and not appealing. Info display was outdated too. My older LG TV had a great information display. It was modern and easy to see. Day two, it started to grow on me, but just by a bit. Good picture with 4K content, but OTA picture is just okay. OTA SD and especially old TV shows from the 1970's thru the 1990's do not upscale that great. Update: Watching OTA broadcasts are a strain on my eyes. OTA picture is fuzzy and not good at all. I tried all picture settings and nothing made the Sony TV look good. Motion on the Sony is blurry and no combination of motion settings/clarity helped either. 4K programing from Netflix, KZfaq, and Disney are great. But, like I said, OTA is horrible. Upscaling SD content is even worse. The look of the TV for its price is not appealing. It has cheap plastic and an unappealing bezel frame. The TV stand is metal, and ugly. The remote feels cheap and the use of it is straining. It’s not backlit either. Come on Sony! How about a printed manual too, explaining settings. The settings interface is a throwback from the 1970's. Difficult to navigate and the look and feel are clunky to use. My 10 year old Samsung has an impressive settings interface. The Samsung and LG interfaces are easy to use and visually appealing. Google play store on the Sony has limited apps that actually work with the TV. I have not found a way to adjust the order of certain apps. Some apps adjust, and other rows in app display do not allow adjusting order. That’s strange… Usable memory storage at around 600MB is pretty bad at this price point. You can add a memory stick if you want. But why should would have too? I'm still waiting to test this memory feature out. UK models have TV record capabilities, but USA models do not have this feature enabled. Why? Copyright laws? Who knows… In the end, I'm still on the fence about this TV. I love the LG magic remote TV's usability, but I had two LG's go bad in short order. One LG TV in less than one year, and the other in 3 years. My old Samsung (10 yrs. and still going) still has a great picture, but I was never happy with smart features back then. They were slow and crappy. I do not have experience with new Samsung TV's. I might check them out in the future. Anyway, I’m still undecided if I’m keeping the Sony or looking for something else. UPDATE: The Sony TV is getting returned. Motion and upscaling are horrendous. OTA signals look bad. I’m getting a LG C1 TV instead.

If you have an oled in a bright room, you ain't going to use dolby vision dark nor Netflix mode. You need to up the brightness and black level to see the detail better unless you want to close the blinds or curtains all day. I also don't like much of imax enhanced. For a laymen like me it's OK but I prefer to adjust the vivid settings.

Sony xbr75x850c does not support Netflix. All you will get is a network error. TRASH!
