I just assumed Spider-Man 4 would be Holland’s own movie. And then the team up with McGuire and Garfield would be in Secret Wars.

Bringing them back so soon seems like the kind of thing WB execs would do. It would make them a lot of money now, but hurt the brand/profits in the long run. Perhaps they could compromise and have Peter team up with Daredevil next? It would scratch the crossover itch, stay grounded, and give people something new. I also think they're crazy for not giving Garfield and Maguire new solo movies.

I didn't really like either of The Amazing Spider-Man movies. But Spider-Man: No Way Home made me come to appreciate Andrew Garfield as the character & the opportunities it represented. That's because Jon Watt & Marvel utilized Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man in a better way than Marc Webb did.

The reason No Way Home succeeded was because these established Spidermen were mentoring Holland's Spiderman through the most traumatic events he's experienced in his fledgling career so that he made it out the other side intact and become his own Spiderman. To throw all that development away for a cheap nostalgia cashgrab is folly, imo.

All I know is Sony better not have the final say. Seems like Sony wants a cash grab and marvel wants a genuine spiderman story. Let Tobey and Andrew have their OWN film either together or seperate. I'd prefer that over all 3 of them together

I think they will all collab again and I want to see it, BUT I think they should build back up to that. Id rather standalone films in their respective universes and then come back together again. Keep in mind Sony is also responsible for the games and Spiderverse so they are proving to be decent sheperds of the franchise (Morbius notwithstanding)

I totally agree with John here. Please not another multiverse multiple-Spidey crossover. They said good-bye at the end. Let it stew for a while. I could see them coming back together at much a later time but it’s too soon right now and it just won’t have the impact that it did in the last movie. Still waiting for a proper Spider-Man->black suit-> Spidey vs Venom arc.

Here I thought Sony had the better idea on Spiderman than MCU, given the Spiderverse movies and the reputation of MCU right now. NHW ended with Spidey being grounded. Exactly what fans wanted. The route should be simple as pair him with Daredevil, fight goons with no supers. Keep Tobey and Garfield for the crossover events. Be it the next Avengers or the time when Spiderverse crossover with live action.

Tell us how you really feel about the old Tony Stark suits John. I believe both Sony and Disney are not taking into account how beloved Spider-Man actually is. There’s enough room for a Tom Holland Spider-Man in Disney & an Andrew Garfield Spider-Man story in Sony‘s world. Make the movies very different thematically & tonally, with different villains. Have them do this for a few movies separately up until Secret Wars or some other crossover. No Way Home set the dominoes up and now all Disney & Sony have to do now is knock them down.

That's gatekeepy. Just because Tobey 'has a trilogy' doesn't mean there isn't more story to tell. Yes they cut Garfield short (largely because there was all this franchise setup in TASM 2 that went nowhere) but a trio of movies isn't the obligatory end to a story.

I feel that the compromise should be that the film should be street-level solo film but a post-credit scene should tease Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield's return in another project. For example, they could do a live-action Spider-verse film to tie in with Secret Wars etc and perhaps tie up Sony's mess of a cinematic universe. Or they could tease a continuation of Maguire and Garfield's universes in some other form. Either would be kind of cool. I could get on board with it. But I also want Tom Holland's Spider-Man to go through a 616 universe version of the classic Rogue's Gallery over the course of his next trilogy.

Why not do both? Release the grounded Marvel Spider-man 4 and then end credit scene, Tom Holland falls through a portal or something into the multiverse where they do the team up film via Sony

Stick with a grounded story for the MCU. For the Sony movies go ahead and do something with Toby and Andrew. This is also just because of where No Way Home and the multiverse in general is leaving off. I think the MCU can stay away from multiverse adventures, but let Sony go ahead and do their own multiverse stuff.

I would love to see Tobey and Andrew again in the role, but if they appear in Spiderman 4, it would take away from what made No Way Home Special. That film was fan service done right, just like I hope Deadpool 3 will be with the Xmen. I do think we will see Tobey and Andrew back though, most likely in Secret Wars, or even in their own new films.

I actually don’t mind the Iron Spider outfit as much as John seems to, I actually kind of like it but, coming with that has always been my major gripe with the MCU spider-man films and that’s what John said about him being “Iron Man Junior”. I have always felt that way, I love Tom Holland’s take on the wall crawler as growing up to this day at 26 years old, the friendly neighborhood wall crawler, is easily in my top 2 favorite Marvel superheroes alongside the hulk, which I want savage hulk back much like John seems to as well but, ultimately I hope they go back to him being the “friendly neighborhood” spider-man and not the “friendly multiverse” spider-man which he might as well be called in the MCU iteration so far.

Let Garfield do TASM 3 against Venom since Garfield did say he wanted to fight an alien in No Way Home and have a cameo by McGuire to help give him advice on how to fight a symbiote in Venom or have those two could team up to take on the Sinister 6. It's also obvious that Marvel wants to keep the Holland version grounded for his eventual meeting with Kingpin.

I guess im in the minority. I don't want Garfield and Mcguire back. You don't want to keep bringing in a good thing just because it worked in NO Way Home. Keep Holland grounded and have us get to know the spiderman that no one remembers after the events of No Way Home. Plus McGuire and Garfield prob wouldn't even come back if they felt it was a cash grab like this plot line most likely is. I think Sony realistically want to tank Holland's spiderman in the MCU to then bring him back into the Sony verse.

I see why Sony would want to bring them all together again, but it would reek of a cash grab...the reaching that they would have to do for it to make any kind of sense is ridiculous. I would love to see more adventures with Tobey and/or Andrew's Peter, but it sounds like that is a pipe dream. My vote for Tom's Spidey is to go solo from here on out.

I may be biased because I think it’s a terrible idea to bring Tobey and Andrew back, but I think John is overestimating the fan response if that were the case. It was special for No Way Home because they were characters who we haven’t seen on screen in a long time and their stories ended abruptly, but now we got a fantastic send off for them so I don’t see what else they could do with those characters that would get everyone excited. Plus I just think it would ruin the stakes of No Way Home.

If the upcoming Kraven movie took place in the Amazing Spider-Man universe it would have been a great way to have another live action Spider-Man movie without it competing with live action Spider-Man in the MCU. Imagine if Andrew Garfield reprised his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in a film adaptation of Kraven the Last Hunt.

Unfortunately I think that what NWH’s ending teases is something that neither Sony or Marvel will ever properly deliver on. That, to me, has become clear as we’ve seen how marvel has handled their films as well as what we know about Sony’s business practices. They both care more about marketability and selling audiences on hype than anything and whereas other studios will often let capable creative-driven directors bring their liberties to an otherwise studio green-lit projects, marvel is just too creatively bankrupt to do that. Whether this next Spidey movie is done through the street-level side of the mcu or not, that kind of hype-driven approach just won’t do Spider-Man or his themes proper justice.

I say do it all. Make a grounded Tom Holland MCU Spidey. Do a older spidey story with Tobey Maguire. Do something with Andrew Garfield too ... maybe bring him into the venomverse. Then have them all come back together later on down the line. To face something like the sinsister six!

I don't see why Sony & Marvel can't give us both projects... Let Kevin Feige spearhead the Tom-Holland led, grounded Movie that they want in the MCU, and let Sony make sequels or a team-up movie with Maguire & Garfield? I think most people want a Spider-Man 3 so Maguire can finish up his trilogy, but we also want a grounded story 'back to basics" in the MCU.

I dont think bringing back Garfield and Mcguire is an auto billion+ at the box office, because we need the movie to also be good. Batman V Superman is a great example of two big popular heroes appearing together for the firs time on the big screen and the movie at best was "meh" and couldnt even crack a billion. What story can be told at this time that the audience will get behind that warrants bringing back Garfield and Mcguire?

I think Campea ian't putting the whole issue out there. Sony's intent is to get Tom Holland associated with Sony's Venom character, to make their Venom mess look better. That's why they want the go multiverse again with the other 2 Spider-Man characters. Feige is trying to hold off on Venom and bring Vemon in the way that is closer to the Secret Wars comic book, a fresh start unconnected with the Sony Venom character. Th'at's what the argument between Marvel and Sony is supposed to be. It's all because of Venom.

No Sony if you want huge cashgrabs just give us what the fans want Tobey Spiderman 4 and Amazing Spiderman 3 is not that hard. For example you can make Andrew Garfield's Spiderman to be the Spiderman of your Crappy Universe Making Venom, Kraven and Morbius all coexisting in the same universe except for Madame Web because its own thing. Solving the problem of why Sony does Spin-off Spiderman films without a Spider-Man this is just a theory that I have seen on the internet just take it as a grain of salt but Marvel and Sony can have their Spiderman 4 what do I mean is that can be a street level Spiderman grounded story but by the end of the movie there is a cameo of both Tobey and Andrew Spidermans in their respective universes dealing with incursions and that will tie to their appearances in Secret Wars. It would be a multiversal movie but at the same time is not but a snippet or teaser of what's to come.

Sony is a studio run by creatively bankrupt inept hacks who hate their audiences. Venom was only successful because of the character’s popularity but adaptively they completely ruined the character. They turned Morbius into a joke. And Madame Web & Kraven look like absolute dog-water. Nobody wants another multiversal Spider-Movie right now because we’re already getting that with the animated movies. I for one want to see Spider-Man with characters like Daredevil, Luke Cage and Kingpin.

Spider-Man 4 should take the grounded route for sure. Sony should just give Andrew Garfield his 3rd film since his popularity went up again after No Way Home. That would honestly solve the problem as many would love to see Garfield do his thing again. That version can connect with Venom etc. Should they wish another crossover, save it for Secret Wars. Not that complicated, Sony! Get your shit together! 🤣

It is so important that we come back down to earth after a climax. In the next film, Spider-Man should fight in New York against the Kin Pin and get to know Daredevil. I would only introduce a reunion with the other Spider-Mans again in the big Avengers film when it comes to fighting together against evil in the universe. but until then. LET US BREATHE

This is the problem with corporate controlled art. From a story perspective, you don't follow an event with another event. The movie blew up because of novelty. Doing it again and again is such a typical Hollywood lesson from success. They ALWAYS take the wrong lessons from it.

I think the only way marvel gets what they want from Sony is if Sony makes so many bad movies in a row to the point where the people who work for Sony would have to choose to either resign or to keep working for Sony under the full ownership of marvel as in Sony gets bought out by marvel instead of Sony being it's own thing but marvel keeps the Sony name and owns Sony themselves

2 thoughts. 1. McGuire’s & Garfield’s appearances was a special event, a rerun won’t necessarily have the same affect & appeal with the audience, it dangerously comes close to coming off as a gimmick. 2. Aren’t they coming back for Secret Wars?

Sony should be sat in a corner to reflect deeply about every ideas and creative decisions they made that gave birth to Spider-Man 3, Morbius and Let There Be Carnage. These movies are proofs that someone in the company is very incompetent and I think it's always the same guy that keep insisting he's competent when he's actually not.

Last time Spiderman was grounded was with the 1st Amazing Spiderman and it took elements from the Dark Knight Trilogy and alot of people didn't appreciate it which is why Sony made the Amazing Spiderman 2 which tried to bring some MCU light and humor but even more people disliked that but since Spiderman has been in the MCU and is played by Tom Holland they can do the same thing with Tom and no one will complain. I think we should have two Peter Spidermans running around one to be the MCU Avenger and we can have another Spiderman in the Sony Universe so Venom,Morbius,Kraven have someone to fight
