I purchased the 75" B9 and I'm quite simply blown away, after coming from the Samsung 65" QN95A. The picture clarity, motion, colours and local dimming are outstanding, but what surprised me the most was the audio, it's waaay better than any TV I've ever owned or heard. It's pricey, but I don't regret a penny of it. Oh and as for screen uniformity, my 75 inch panel is near perfect, except for that old Sony trait of ever so slightly dimmer corners, which you really have to look for. Thanks for the review👍🏼

Love OLED’s perfect blacks, but the Bravia 9 is a monster. For reference my Switch looks far more vibrant on the B9 and brighter than the C3… and the brightness is only at 10/50 for the B9… it is that bright.

Those rainbow reflections are one of the main reasons I've enjoyed so much switching from LED to QD-OLED. Had a mini LED with the same rainbow reflections. Would happen even from lighting off to the side of the TV. With the OLED, no such issue. As much as people claim LEDs to be great in bright lighting, I found myself always waiting til nightfall to use that TV. I use this OLED any time of day and it looks better

It's nice to see that you are doing reviews of recently released TVs on KZfaq! Smaller sizes than I would be interested in but I can understand cost concerns. Anywho, I didn't hear you mention that the Bravia 9 has a "center channel" input that can be used with Sony Soundbars. Also it might be useful to Joe Sixpack if you mentioned what picture mode was found to be the most accurate for general content.. Keep up the good work .

FINALLY saw the 85" Bravia 9 in person at a local Best Buy and it didn't disappoint! Sooo incredibly immersive..vivid..bright in the right areas (specular HDR highlights)... incredible oled-like blacks...etc. The Bravia 8 & A95L were positioned directly next to it and the B9 looked better "to me" than those...A great bargain @ $4,799...

Thanks, RTINGS, for another great review. In so many ways the BRAVIA 9 is an excellent TV, but personally speaking, I doubt I can muster the enthusiasm to pay nearly $3,000 for a 65" TV with mediocre gray uniformity/noticeable Dirty Screen Effect (even while I admit I've been a Sony fanboy for years...)

I wish they put a g4 there instead of a95l, especially for gamers. The g4 is the clear choice at these prices. There is just no reason to get an led with only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports when the g4 is super bright and does 4k144hz with processing that's just as good

On paper the Bravia 9 has twice as many zones, giving better contrast and gets quite a bit brighter. It also tracks the EOTF quite a bit more accurately since it seems the X95L makes content a bit too dark than intended.

It's not really the no of zones which matters here ... the new "Backlight Master Drive" they set up just outperforms any other backlight to date. Nevertheless it's still an lcd tv with all it's technology driven drawbacks ... but a great one ;-) From what I saw and heard so far ... the new Bravia 7 (also equipped with a "Backlight Master Drive") is roughly on par with last years X95L... So, more or less: A95L > Bravia 9 > X95L = Bravia 7

When opening a menu LD is disabled. Sony does that. It's a non-issue because who watches content with menus open. Do what you nee to do in menu, turn it off and go and watch the content the LD is fully back on immediately. I don't notice any smearing or issues. But I am used to LCD. It's just fast and smooth to me in gaming. No complaints there. Movie watching is awesome with HDR. Dolby vision works really well, which is not common with Sony that struggles normally with DV. I like DV Bright.

2:57 I think you're way too kind about these kinds of bugs. Tv manufacturers seem to have completely forgotten how to make decent firmware. When we got our LG C3 in january I almost immediately noticed about five or six bugs that I had never seen reported in any review, because owners spend much more time with one particular model of tv than reviewers do. Obviously the bug reports for LG are so convoluted that I'm still in the process of reporting them. This is far from unique to LG. I've had similar experiences with Samsung and Philips and I've heard Sony isn't much better. Tv manufacturers deserve all the crap they can get from reviewers about bugs, because at least that might cause them to try their best to solve them for a change.

@@TonyDAngelo-ot7ny Yeah, on the Samsung S95C bugged firmware even caused the tv to "forget" to run its compensation cycles, causing burn-in to appear much more quickly than it would've done otherwise. That's a serious flaw that should've been corrected way before launch. At the worst it should've been a day 1 patch, to make sure consumers weren't affected. Instead, the tv had been on the market for over 6 months before it was fixed. We're basically paying tv manufacturers to become their beta testers at this point.

It has to be pay for play. I had completely disregarded the S95D because of her and other reviwers. It was such a bad review that I decided to look at the G4, QN900D, A95L and Beavia 9 only. The only reason I now have the S95D is because I was more or less forced to watch side-by-sides. Not only is the S95D a significant upgrade from the S95C, it's color luminance smoked the others. Sure, purists do not like that it isn't accurate out of the box and the processing is only very good (but top 5ish), the matte screen is amazing in the dark and I can finally game in the light - but is horrible in a warehouse full of fog lights.. But for the life of me, I'm trying to figure out how this set got so underrated that channels are actively looking for every nook and cranny to give as many bad strokes as possible. This year, I think I may have discovered something for myself. That "professional" reviewers have a strong bias where they go either all in for the good, or all in for the bad. Rtings no longer is trustworthy for me.

All lcd tvs have weaker local dimming in game mode
@andreiclawhammer
@andreiclawhammer 3 күн бұрын
Local dimming in gaming mode is the equivalent of medium in non gaming mode. Picture will look more washed in gaming mode! None of the reviewers talk about this of course. They also don't talk about audio cutout and intermitent black screens with VRR enabled when connected via HDMI to Nvidia GPUS. This might have been fixed on the new Bravia 9 but I doubt it, as it is present on multiple older gen SONY LEDs and still not fixed on the older sets. The only workaround is not using VRR, then the intermitent screen going black randomly will go away. Not to be confused with the VRR flicker which is present on all TV's, OLED or led doesn't matter. This is why most people turn on VRR. It can also happen with Xbox consoles via HDMI in VRR ofc, both flicker and intermitent random black screens. PS5 work fine.

@@Voce24 valid concern. What attracted me to to OLED is the wide viewing angles. This TV is wall mounted in my living room on a wall nearly 30ft long. I have seating to view the TV straight on, as well as sofas that are perpendicular to the TV wall which can create viewing angles that are not ideal. The B7 image was completely washed out from the side seating, which in hindsight should have been expected, so I can't knock it for that. The major disappointment, however, was that I didn't find the picture quality all that impressive even in ideal seating. I wanted to like it. Also thought about the B9 since the price point is so similar to the G4. For my situation it just made more sense to take advantage the OLED wide viewing angle, which is really incredible btw.

I knew Sony would deliver regardless. Expensive now though, haha. I already got a C4 as a PC monitor. That 'green tint' people talk about on the C4 can be gotten rid of if one knows how to calibrate, and reviewers usually don't have time for that when they review. Most viewers who 'depend' on what reviewers say usually don't know how to calibrate either (tsk tsk). Unfortunately for LG, their image processing isn't as precise as Sony or Samsung...but once it's well calibrated, it looks as good as any of 'em. The differences are minimal at worst. Sony's still my personal fave, but they take too long to release their new models. I owned a Samsung last time, so I wanted to try something else. Sorry, Sony. You guys took too long again. Maybe next time.

It's silly to compare 65" Bravia 9 to a Hisense UX 85", especially in contrast. The Bravia 9 85" surely beats the UX in contrast and local dimming due to having 2800+ zones vs the 1600 on the 65". Maybe being a bit more accurate in these statements would make more sense?
