Bought an R1 quite cheap some time ago, and have to say I have a lot of fun with this camera. Well ahead of it's time.

I just wish I could get an original lens hood for my R1. The cheap screw in hoods are too far forward and introduce shadowing esp when using the flash. I've seen one or two R1 Hoods for sale but the sellers are asking far too much for them. I would say the R1 stands up well even today in 2024, and the asking prices for these gorgeous cameras is rising too. I feel your enthusiasm in the video.Nicely presented too. I believe You've got the focal length equivalents wrong. The lens is 14.3-71.5 mm which with 1.67x crop factor equals 24-120mm equivalent. It even says that on top of the lens. The viewfinder is 235 000 dots, not 2.35 milion dots. Other than that, this is a great video 😊

That this camera is more ergonomically-sound than some of Sony's modern lineup is quite depressing. What caused them to forget how to design a camera which is designed to be operated efficiently and comfortably by the human hand? A9III is progress, but they'll still a long way to go...

The ATG R1 IR and ATG R1 UV are going over $3,000+. Both are rare. And the full ATG kit are much more. The ATG IR sees in total darkness & able to shoot @ 1/2000 IR flash sync on events/weddings The ATG UV sees cancer cells

The lens is 24-120mm in FF terms. It's like on Sony R10IV with a 1 inch sensor, but it's marked in FF terms.

A great camera, I have two, the lens is great, a Zeiss Sonnar.

I miss the days when people used cameras like this. Now everyone is walking around with smartphones, it's so pathetic deplorable . No one is interested in the quality of the photos.
