Dont let this lens trick you, this lens is quite large for such a limited range lens. Not even a 2x zoom.

It’s a 2.8. Yes it’s and the wide end but still 2.8

Sigma 16-28 just 60g more and covers more range.

Yeah I was wrong. Sigma is the wider one. But tamron can focus much closer. 17-28

Unusually compact for a Sony lens. Compare with Tamron

Hate to be that person but the sigma 18-50 2.8 is half the weight of the Sony. Though yes the Sony is a better performer, but the sigma’s a perfect all purpose walking around lens. Just gotta deal with a bit more distortion and vignette at the wide end.
