Sony hts20r does support hdmi arc or hdmi earc.. because from the date of purchase I used only arc cable but now now not able to produce sound from sound bar .so I connected to sony customer then they have sent a person ..that person is telling to use earc cable instead of arc. Please help me sith that

This soundbar supports both ARC and EARC but it will not benefit from EARC because the soundbar only supports basic Dolby digital 5.1. The soundbar doesn't support DTS or any other sound formats that RARC outputs.

@@onlylaxman i could not find it. But I think that any room too big for the length of the wires is too big for the soundbar/home theater. Also, because there's a setting where you need set distance of the speakers from your most common sitting position (e.g. especially sitting at the middle of sofa watching TV). In the end, if I ever need to extend the speaker wires for any reason, I will have to cut them and join with other wires.

Don't buy this product. Mine stopped working after a year and a half. It seems to have cheap Chinese parts. I never expected this from a brand like Sony. I've also noticed that some other people have faced the same issue, with it not working after 1.5 years in this model. mother board fault the service center telling me like cost around 6800 rupees which is half of the rate of the entire product and warranty for the new board is only 3 months. it is not consumer mistake. the brand provided the cheap product which is not with standed even of minimum 6month of useage The brand should take action on this. It's also not worth for 16+k.

I got this soundbar yesterday. I would like to request some minor changes in a firmware update if Sony is reading. When selecting multi speaker on or off can you please change it from multi stereo where the same sound I'd output through a the speakers including the subwoofer , please change it to Dolby Pro logic Ii where it upconverts a stereo dignal to Dolby surround orHD-DCS which also also up-vonverts a stereo dignal to Dolby surround. Can we please get basic DTS support for the soundbar. I have some blu ray discs that are DTS HD and I must set the audio out on my HDMI ARC to Stereo (uncompressed) to get audio out on the soundbar. I tried changing various settings in my Panasonic UB391 but it will not convert DTS to Dolby out and the same with my TV. My Philips 58PUS8535 only has STEREO (UNCPRESDED) , Multichannel {bypass) and multi channel. I tried multi channel and the soundbar still will not output an audio signal. I'm assuming multichannel still outputs a standard DTS 5.1 signal which the soundbar will not process. I'm not asking for DTS HD support. Just standard DTS 5.1 support. Can you please lower the crossover frequency for the subwoofer because it puts out too much midrange sound. Or add a setting in the setup menu to adjust the subwoofer signal. While I'm on the subwoofer it seems a bit hit and miss. 95% of the time it's very low volume even when it's at 12 but the other 5% it's loud but the frequency sounds like it's around 70Hz or 80Hz. One last thing. Can we get some extender cables that are a few foot long for the rear speakers. The rear speakers just about reached the back of my room but I need more cable to put the speakers up off the floor s bit more than they already are. I'll try to find another way of communicating this to DONY.

don't buy this home theater , I buy this home theater . after 16 months this home theater making biping noise and I took to Sony service center and technician chicked and said board problem for repair cost 10000 so Its disappoint me because I buy this product with my 3 years of saving money . so before we buy think again . invest your money better things

Also, you need to be using power guard to protect your electronics. I think all electronics can get damaged if additional power guard or surge protector is not used with them.

@tony-ez6sy did you got any solution from brand ? Same here I will never recommend to buy this product. Stopped working after 1.5yrs mother board problem they are telling to pay 6.8k half of the product cost which is unfair quality issue with brand they hide behind the warranty terms and conditions. We buy branded products to long last and durability even Cheap brand will work more than 5+ yrs.

for this price the sound it's very good ... movi , music , game , have deeper bass just for 200 £ you have good "home cinema "

@@MyBogdan14 you must have a different SONY HT S20R to the one I have because the one I have has absolutely no trebble in all audio settings and there's very little bass. I have an LG and Denon soundbar here that were cheaper than this Sony which sound a whole lot cheaper they're just missing the rear speakers. In fact my TV speakers sound better than this soundbar. The only reason I use the soundbar is for the proper rear surround sound.

After having this with about two months my opinion has changed. It really doesn't sound that good. Sony should have added tweeters to the soundbar because the audio is a bit muffled with a massive lack of trebble. It's mostly midrange. It's hard to hear people's voices properly sometimes because of how muffled it sounds even with voice enabled because if the lack of trebble. Also the subwoofer isn't that good unless you have the volume loud. The subwoofer needs to have a higher setting of at least 20 instead of 12 and a much lower crossover frequency. When multi speaker is enabled all sounds go through the subwoofer when a stereo dignal is going through the soundbar.
