Awesome little recorder. I need a small recorder for recording meetings and presentations and the small size and remote control is perfect for that purpose.

Aside from possibly needing remote mic placement, the UX-560 seems a far better choice, especially at 1/3 the price.

Very well produced and presented video. Love this device. Agree with jastern949's excellent point about not putting the screen on the remote. I love all of these digital recorders. I've had a Sony IPD-SX712 for 6 years and it still amazes me.

Whoa, sweet! I may have to just push the button on this one. Pricey, but so handy. Only catch is that I don't have iPhone. But I'll check docs to see if I can download timestamped files to Windoze computer. Looks promising! Thanks, Mike!

That is a drawback. But with 15 hour recording time for something so small, may make sense for those that need all day recording on-the-go so that nothing is missed. Makes perfect sense for cameras without microphone inputs (ahem Sony RX100 series...) - but still have to post later. Time stamps will transfer over with the Sony windows application for the recorder.

Recently got this a few days ago. One complaint I have with this recorder is in pocket mode. I tried hiding it in the inside pocket of a groom's coat. When I got back the files, you could hear the swooshing of the coat against his shirt.
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 6 жыл бұрын
Yup, I would expect that to be the case, and with no external microphone jack you're more limited where you can put the unit. I've had decent results on outer shirt breast / jacket breast pocket only with clip side facing out.

I worry about the tiny screen on the recorder as I have a Sony DRC-BT60 Bluetooth device with similar form factor, and its tiny screen failed long time ago, which gave me a pain in the you-know-what-I-mean for operation. The only way to solve this is reading the manual and doing trial-and-error for setting. It seems Sony's tiny screen on its products are all the same...last not very long, but my BT-30 and BT-60 are both still working well.

What is LPCM? Why don't they just call it the WAV file format -- seems the 48khz / 24 bit missing?? I wonder if this device will pick up a lot of extra noise if you put it on your clothing... realistically, i don't see a use for the secondary remote. in most cases, one is likely to set the up the device and then put it where one wishes to in order to record. the phone app makes some sense, bc one can monitor the levels. too bad the remote didn't have that function. the tiny remote also would be awesome if it had a mini-jack out... again to remotely monitor the audio. btw, the price is AED849 to 889 here in Dubai.

What I was thinking as well. Clip it on, record the whole day as main or backup. Synch where necessary.

They put the time/screen on the recorder, not the remote control. Duh. If I am sitting across the room and want to check on the time, etc, now I can't. The screen should have gone on the remote, not the mike.
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 6 жыл бұрын
Fair points. The issue is the remote would be syncing data from the recorder - if done via bluetooth poorly there could be some latency. They'd have to increase power consumption on the remote, requiring a li-ion instead of button cell. I think if done, the price of the combo would increase fairly substantially or the size would have to increase. Probably better to use your expensive smartphone as a remote - it has all the power, and processing power to handle all that better.

You're welcome Dennis! I think this makes a great remote audio capture solution - can't wait to see what you might use it for if you plan on adding it as part of your KZfaq kit. I thought about getting the Tascam DR-10L ( amzn.to/2M88AJp ) instead for additional audio capture, but thats quite a bit bigger and bulkier - less versatile for placement but it does have a microphone in jack.

Hey, I want to use a GoPro hero 6 for Vlogging, but the audio quality is quite bad and I thought this could be a good option. I want to use my iPad only to edit and export the videos, so no computer. Could I use this device for that purpose! Thank you in advance!
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. But you would need to get the audio offloaded to the iPad. There are ways, but it isn’t very slick how you would do it due to Apple’s iOS restrictions. Either use external hardware, or cloud (Dropbox, iCloud, email, etc)
@jonahnieuwenhuizen9492

Mike Mu doesn’t the Sony app have the option to record and save files in the iOS app? I don’t have the microphone so I can’t try it myself ☹️
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 6 жыл бұрын
No. I’m sorry that wasn’t made more clear in my video. The App gives you a lot of remote control options. Transferring files isn’t one of the features it has - that’s usually reserved for Wifi which it does not have.

Mike Mu that’s a shame, I will look online if I can figure something out because it looks ideal for a small GoPro Vlogging set up

Yup. I plan on using a Gnarbox ( amzn.to/2KY3oa8 ) with the iPad for editing. But I'm waiting for gen 2 to use with lumafusion. That's one way, but pricey. Another alternative is the MikMe ( amzn.to/2KYtHgm ), but its not as tiny, and definitely more fragile. That does transfer audio files via bluetooth.

Can the recorder piece be turned on or powered on with the remote? In other words, if left the recorder powered on it will likely power down or go into sleep mode. Can i turn the recorder back on with the remote -without having to go and physically turn the power on at the recroder?
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 5 жыл бұрын
David, The remote cannot be used to power on the recorder itself. It can be used to 'wake' it up though. By default the recorder unit will power off after 30 minutes of inactivity. You can adjust this to a maximum 60 minutes with no activity. Or just turn this off completely so the unit stays on indefinitely. So if you are concerned about missing a moment, just keep the unit powered on (and plugged into a USB battery pack). A small battery pack should be able to keep it in standby/sleep mode for a whole day no problem. For the remote, it is up to 2 hours for the remote to power off with no activity. But you can simply just power it back on and it will connect again. In all cases, you need to physically turn on the recorder by sliding the switch FIRST. Then if you want to record later, just power on the remote... Wait for it to connect. Wake up the unit and start recording. Does that answer your question? Mike

Hi. Can you help me change the language setting on this device? I ordered one off of amazon but it came set to Japanese already. So I can’t even navigate the settings menu to change the language. Can you help me? I need to set it to English.
@MikeMu
@MikeMu 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, unfortunately these is no simple way to change a made for Japan unit to English. The firmware simply doesn't have another language Luckily there are only a few main settings, so you can line up the English manual with the settings and make it workable. Or connect to it using the app which you can use in English. If you can return it, or exchange for an English version, that'd be the way to go.
