@@foxxoboxxo1611 how is it garbage for the price? half the features aren't available because 99% of games don't support or have use for those features. the only thing i can see being good is the foveated rendering, which game developers needs to add, not sony. 2000x2040 oled panels at 120hz, 110 fov is great for $700 aud if all you care for is clarity. you're also not tied to a battery like the quest lineup. it also has my 2nd favourite vr controllers ever made, next to the index knuckles. the quest is more expensive if you want to play standalone games (which i dont), so the psvr2 is actually a really good investment. you're also making things up, like "cut funding" for the features. they haven't been cut for funding reasons, they weren't cut at all. no games on pc actually support any of the features on psvr2, at least not any popular ones. blame sony for all their other actual stupid decisions, not for something they have no control over.

Just because the games are coming to PC doesn't mean it doesn't have any games, we should stop gatekeeping games on specific platforms There are still plenty of other reasons to own a console, even if all games get released on PC games like Dead Space Remake and Jedi Survivor are better optimized on console than on PC from what I've seen A console is also a system that's *just* focused on games, a lot of people have told me that they own a console because they're tired of sitting Infront of a computer at their 9-5 Jobs and cant stand PC gaming because of it

@@LoraLoibuit’s because of it using completely different hardware to run games on said console psvr 1 used an external camera with lights and psvr 2 uses internal cameras and sensors on the controller and headset so re programming the games would be pretty hard to do for every game. Thankfully certain games already have psvr 2 ports but it’s not much compared to the library of psvr 1. Man I really miss superhot

As much I think it's stupid of Sony to drop all backwards compatibility support from the getgo because "It'S tOo HaRd" despite having the CPU architecture blueprints in their back pockets. I don't believe the rumour, until I see it in action, from actual physical disks, offline, without any "subscription" trash (because how easy things can be taken away without any reason).

Exclusivity was always my biggest complaint for why VR couldn't take off. Each manufacturer keeps trying to push their own ecosystem when the market isn't even big enough for multiple platforms to exist simultaneously. PCVR is clearly the only hope for VR to grow given it will work with any headset that connects to a PC, meanwhile we have Meta dividing their own userbase already with it's game exclusivity strategy that won't even work with all of their own headsets. If manufacturers would just work together at least for now until VR becomes as ubiquitous as game consoles, we might actually get some good VR content again. The other issue is definitely this obsession with going standalone/wireless too soon, so much potential for VR gets wasted trying to deal with low quality software due to standalone hardware limitations.

I mean yeah companies like the buffoons they are thought "oh this is going to take off and make us boat loads of profit!" When in reality any new tech or novel tech is hard to get adapted into the market. The question is; "how are you going to sell people on this?" Besides, "oh you can move your hands and possibly body in the game." Not a lot of people have a lot of space to do VR stuff in as it is.

I think VR can be easy to use with some simple instructions. When I got my oculus quest 2 I got a game called First Steps, which was an intro to VR, real easy. The hard part is body tracking and more complex headsets like the valve ones. Full body tracking, at least with how the valve headsets work is complex but there’s other ones like slime vr tracking.

A thing thats probably hurting current VR headsets is the refusal to have a cheap screen outside the lenses so you can control/diagnose problems easier. Especially when using both it and a computer becomes important. VR headsets are difficult to troubleshoot partially because they dont tell enough and almost all information is only available when the headset is completely working. Im not saying go crazy, just something better than a single damn LED and a power button

It may lack many of the features like that on the PS5 though I feel that it can still be a compelling offering compared to other similarly priced wired headsets.

-Release PSVR 2 with no backwards compatibility with PSVR1 games (which means you can't play Media Molecule's Dreams with it, which is like the _main thing_ people should get a console VR platform for) -**JUST NOW** getting official PCVR compatibility and even then with heavy caveats and missing features (seriously, no eye tracking/foveated rendering when the hardware to do this exists inside it is such a missed opportunity for it to become the market leader PCVR headset) -Costs as much as the PS5 itself -"WHY IS IT NOT SELLING" 💀 Industries I like such as VR can be so frustrating sometimes, if you just like... use the thing you're making as if you were a customer, these things would be plainly obvious as mandatory issues to fix.

I think they might have realized that vr at the moment is a bit of a dead end. Half life alyx proves the potential of the tech is here, but that’s the best we’re getting at the moment. So maybe it’s best to put a hold on headsets until there’s actually a reason and drive to develop them more.

They had potential here and they dropped the ball. Sony could have made the PSVR 2 backwards compatible with PSVR 1 games as well as selling it for a lower price. They also could have made games that were able to bring more people towards the VR platform. But Sony only wants the profits. They can’t bear to attempt innovation.

It would HEAVILY help the VR industry if Triple A studios made GOOD VR games. But asides from Half Life: Alyx. I can't think of a single full length Triple A VR game that feels like something top quality. Most of what we get are things like that one Medal of Honor attempt, and whatever that batman game was. There's a lot of great games for VR, like Into The Radius, Ancient Dungeon VR, Arizona Sunshine 2, But it's all small/Indie studio and doesn't have its name shared around a lot. Companies are too unwilling to invest in the right direction. Doesn't help meta Kinda fucked up with Metaverse and showed a bunch of people 'Vr isn't worth it'. Try to hold onto a bunch of exclusives to alienate the market, and otherwise push a bunch of really crappy games to a more social media orientated market.

@@LoraLoibu Yeah, but the cost of entry is significantly higher. Also a lot of newer VR titles are Quest 1st or they prioritize the Quest before other platforms. You have to look at it like that too. $1000 for a valve index + accessories is far more expensive than a single Quest 3 that just scans your environment once and you can get to playing in no time. (and yes I'm aware you can use the Quest on a PC, but people typically buy the index for more immersion) I love PCVR too, I just wish the cost of entry wasn't as high as it was. It's why PCVR isn't growing anytime soon.

@@formerlycringe PC gaming itself has gotten insanely expensive. I remember when I built my first gaming PC somehwere around 2010; the whole rig cost me less then 500€ and was able to play every game that came out in that generation. I mean: a GTX 560 ti was 200€ and had 60% the power of the high end chip of that gen. Now look at what you need to pay for those same 60%... theres a reason PC games arent pushing boundaries anymore.

@@LoraLoibu I'm a month late to this... .....it DOES have hundreds of titles, but it's almost all indie studios and we're still in an era of 80% shovelware and 15% "fun for an hour every once in a while" titles. It's about as disorganized as when PC gaming started, but with a significantly higher entry point. We'll be lucky if it takes off in two decades, and it'll only take off if corporations find non-gaming uses for it. (As corporations go, to date I only recall KFC doing something fun with VR, and it was a weird escape room game teaching the principles behind their fried chicken. Then again KFC has always had weird publicity stunts.)

Things may be hard to Sony but I think they can do one more thing they can do. They should make Chad Warden their spokesperson. I mean, think about it, he defended the Playstation triple when the world was convinced to buy an Xbox 360 and they were blinded by the truth. But after his video, the PS triple started to sell, even selling more than the Xbox 360 and soon, the world began to realize that Chad Warden was right. However, notice how the PS5 has now not been selling that well and has been getting less games? I think Chad Warden can once convince the public that the Playstation 5 and the Playstation Vr is worth buying and fix Sony, so thats why I think Sony should pay Chad Warden to be the spokesperson for Sony and then eventually become the CEO and then the next playstation, the Playstation Sextuple, will become one of the consoles of all time and will be the most sold product in the world
