I got one of these from a thrift store a while back and haven’t had the chance to try and fix it up, this has been really helpful!

Thank You.

Thanks! Just got one of these for free, exactly the same, two raw cables hanging out the back. Gonna give this a go, seems like a simple enough fix!

I had this turntable, it came with the Sony LBT-D107 system . It did indeed connect to the main unit and got its power from there.

Thank you so much for verifying this. I appreciate it. Was curious about the stock system. This may help others as well. Your awesome!

I got one of these for a couple of dollars from a junk shop and didn't realise it didn't have its own separate power source. So I've found an old 12v adapter and it worked, but was really quiet, both thru my soundbar and my hifi. So I connected it to proper amp and now it's fine.

nice, got one for 10€ and it works like a charm with a 12V DC unit from an old LED strip i had laying around.

I have this same unit although mine is a matt finish plastic at the front rather than the brushed look. Purchased here in Australia back in around 1991-92 and it was stacked on top of the matching LBT-A20. The main stereo unit has recently stopped powering up so now I'm debating whether to toss that part and just keep the turntable for a rainy day project or perhaps pull it apart and just see if it's just some capacitors or something simpole that have died. The main system also had dual cassette tape, AM/FM radio, 5 band graphic equaliser for each channel and a separate stackable 5 CD carousel, quite a tall unit with everything stacked at about 60cm high.

I have an LX-43p turntable. What should i do with the middle wire? Should I just leave it exposed after I do the 12 volt conversion? Or cover it with electrical tape?

this is a servo controlled turntable. which means it has a DC servo Motor, which is DC and polarity dependent.

I know this is an old video, but ...hat would happen, if my Adaptor had 12 Volts, but 3.0 Ampere? Would it work, or blow this Turntable to pieces? The closest to what you were holding besides the named one are 13,5 Volt with 1.0 Amp and 9 Volt with 1.5 and I don't want to waste any money for a 12 Volt with 1 Amp. ;-)

worked a treat, thank you. although once turntable connected to new amplifier I am only experiencing about 10-15% volume when turned up fully. can anyone help with this?

you probably don't have a phono enabled amp. Try it on an old amp with phono inputs and you should get the sound you want. If this works then you'll need to get a phono amp (small piece of equiptment sold on various sites) and use this between phono and the amp that you have the problem with. In a nutshell.... an old turntable needs a dedicated phono input on amp you're using. Common problem with new amps we use today. You won't find phono inputs on these!

The adaptor I spliced into it is rated at 12v 0.5A. I do not know if this is the exact correct specs. But I have used it for over a year so this must be within its tolerance. I have had no problems since making the video. Sorry it took a few days to respond.

@@majinzendo I think this should run with 4watts, do the basic electrical maths you will find this needs 0.334A=334mA. So I think you are doing it right with a power supply. Power supply will provide power on demand until its limit while the charger unit will throw the constant power every time. I guess you are doing it right.

@@akilakj1 I think you're right. sure i read somewhere that 300ma was the standard. tried mine with 2.5a for testing. worked ok but methinks a bit too high and will change

Yes, if used as a stand alone unit, it does require a preamp.

Can it be stacked on any stereo system or should it be the exact model?
@majinzendo
@majinzendo 5 жыл бұрын
I know the proprietary cable it came with originally was for a stackable system, but not sure if it can be integrated with just any system. I only had the turntable by itself so I honestly have no reference to give you an answer. Sorry.
