Took the plunge with vr 2 after it received fantastic reviews. Headset arrived within a few days, was nice and simple to set up, jumped on Gt7 to see what all the fuss was about, and I will say this. It is a level of immersion I was not prepared for in any way. I don't know what the hell I was expecting from vr, I had no idea. Figured I'd pick it up for a casual bit of fun with my son every now and then. I was dead, dead wrong.

I was sceptical at first as the headset is a lot of money but WOW was I impressed. MIND literally BLOWN. I have had some experience with vr on Assetto Corso with my friends set up and wasn't expecting the PSVR2 to be as good but how I was wrong. What an experience this offers. It's as close to real life racing you can get. I would say if you really love cars and driving games this is a must have. See you on the track!

I just got mine day before yesterday, and it's the first VR I've ever used. I make sure to acclimate myself by looking at a car in the showroom/garage in VR for a minute before going into a race. I haven't had any problems with motion sickness at all doing it that way. That being said, all the reviews and videos on GT7 in VR don't do it justice. I had no idea VR was as good as this is, or I wouldn't have waited this long to try it. GT7 on a controller/flat screen vs GT7 with a DD wheel and VR aren't even in the same galaxy as far as experiences go.

Agreed! VR in general is impossible to explain HOW good it is until someone tries it, it's a huge game changer and a totally different experience, and GT7 feels like a new game but on a totally different level to 'standard' play. Glad you love it! 🙂

Great review. I got psvr2 mainly for GT7 and its worth every penny to me. I've also got an Index for my pc and think the psvr2 compares really well and excels in so many ways. Driving in VR revolutionary. Like you say it's like a different game, your real driving instincts kick in, like having to check your mirrors with head or eye movements and using real 3d spatial awareness to overtake. Everything looks amazing inside the car in life size scale in full 3d and I love the way you can feel the change in elevation in the tracks. Being able to look into the corners is a game changer as well. As you can tell I'm in love with VR racing! There is hundreds of hours of entertainment in VR on this game. By the way having a fan blowing on you while you drive can be a great help with motion sickness. It also adds to the immersion in open cockpit cars. Enjoy and keep up the great videos.

Thanks Donna, great Comment! Eating sweets is also a good thing for the motion sickness apparently, not that I think I will need it as the effect was very minor with PSVR2. Having said that... Open wheel car in GT7, with a fan in your face, eating sweets sounds kinda perfect anyway 😂😂

Hi I said I would be back when I have psvr2. It amazing I can't believe my eyes when I came out of the pits and seen the vr for the first time it feels almost real. I think i spend more time now swapping cars just to look around inside. I am now alot faster on most tracks. Thank you so much for making my mind up on vr. My advice to anyone thinking of getting vr don't think anymore just get it. If I had to pay £1000 for vr I would it's the best thing since oxygen. If you suffer from motion sickness try moving around as you play the game ie.lean to your left as you turn left and lean right as you turn right. This has helped some friends who suffer from it. I've been waiting 4 years for a good time to get into it and I've almost decided that I need to wait for a 5090 for it to be fully enjoyable and immersive but coming from high end pcvr are you saying that that definitely isn't true? What about that blurriness and mura effect that some people seem to complain about? 🤔
@paulbellino5330
@paulbellino5330 Жыл бұрын
@@adamlitchfield3371 All VR has flaws and there are tradeoffs at the moment, but if you already a PS5 then PSVR2 is a no brainer. blurriness, none at all. I do not even see someone saying that and Mura effect is very small if any and only slightly in some scenes. When going through most games even if you were to see such a thing your brain would adapt quickly, and you would not notice it after a while. The headset has way more pluses then negatives. The blacks are deep the resolution crisp. The haptics are out of this world. I own a lot of headsets so take it from me, this is one good VR headset.
@xsmoothkriminal7267
@xsmoothkriminal7267 Жыл бұрын
The Blurriness on the outer edges of your peripheral is by design. Its a way to keep your FPS high on your focal point.
@honestrob
@honestrob Жыл бұрын
That is the foveated rendering. What I am referring too is having to all round edge blurriness compared to your head position. If you keep your head to the centre for example then only move your eyes to look to the top and bottom of the screen, it is out of focus. Move your HEAD down so the bottom of the screen is now in the centre and it is in focus. Move just your eyes up from this position and the top of the screen is blurry. It is to do with the optics in the headset.- only the central part of the lens gives perfect focus. It does not effect it too much. Just be better if the whole image was always properly in focus 🙂
@decadent.

@@honestrob The issue occurs with all VR headsets that use fresnel lenses. Some headsets are worse than others Reverb G2 & PSVR2 are amongst the worst , Quest 2 is OK and Valve Index is probably the best. Newer headsets like Quest Pro, Pico 4 and most future headsets use pancake lenses that have almost perfect edge to edge clarity.

To stave off motion sickness you need to be conscious of how much you are looking around. I find that I get motion sick when I move my head around an unnatural amount.
@honestrob

I've had quest2, quest pro, pico 4 and psvr2 (and dji avata headset which was terrible). I can not agree that quest 2 is clearer than psvr2...psvr2 WHEN SET CORRECTLY (!) is miles ahead clearer than quest 2. It is almost as clear as quest pro. So either you have a faulty unit or it is not set correctly on your forehead
@honestrob
@honestrob 8 ай бұрын
My PSVR is set correctly. What I meant was, if I keep my head still and look around the entire image on the Quest 2 just by moving my eyes it is not blurry on the edges. On PSVR2 if I do the same there is a lot of blur near the edges and I cannot change this no matter what the settings or eye adjustment, and I get the same on my friends unit (I'm not referring to the foveated rendering either). If I move my HEAD so what was blurry on the edge is now nearer the center it's fine and very sharp, but then whatever is now near the edge is blurry. I've got used to it so it's not a issue, just noticed this when playing my girlfriends Quest 2 🙂

@13.40 You seem to suggest that the viewpoint has to be in the cockpit. That is not true. In games like Project Cars 2 (pc) in VR you can use a chase camera view and it works exceptionally well. That is how I choose to play. I don`t really like the restricted view even if it is more realistic. In general 3rd person games are really good in VR , its just a different type of experience. Hellblade Senua Sacrifice is probably the best example.

I've been VR racing for about 2 years now with a pretty well built up PC rig. It has spoiled my experience in a good way as it's the only way I race now (with the exception of old arcade racers). I would agree, visuals are probably a generation or two behind if you directly compare it to a current gen console on a flat screen (Oled 4k HDR, etc). However, the immersion level of 3D makes up for it by giving you the true cockpit experience. I used to struggle using a cockpit view on a flat panel because your field of view of the actual road is consumed by the interior. Meanwhile in VR you can gauge road depth, see out all windshields naturally, and the side mirrors feel more functional since they're at scale as well. I haven't tried the PS5+VR2 yet but I'm curious with the foveated rendering (blurry on areas where your eyes aren't looking to help performance). I would consider a PS5 mainly for VR racing if its as good or better than what I can currently get on a PC.

Yep VR racing is super immersive, really love it. I don't have all the other PV VR options (girlfriend has a Quest 2 though, and I think overall it's a definite big jump above that) , but I have a friend that has had ALL the VR systems with a mighty beefy PC too - and he really loves the PSVR2 if that's any help 🙂

It's for the money a far better deal then PC.....PS5 + PSVR2 is cheaper then the best headsets and that's without the 4000 euro pc you also need. But it all depends if you want the experience and immersion of racing and collecting cars you can't beat GT7 with descent physics and beautifull graphics, but if you want the most realistic simulator, PC is far superior. PC also has headsets really close to a monitor, the Varjo Aero and the Pimax Crystal but they are like 2000 euro each. But if you are a casual racer, go for the PS5 PSVR2 combo. My preference is pc simulators.
