Little gray ceramic component on the display board is a piezoelectric hv transformer for ccfl backlight.

The plastic washers for the controls could be Delrin which has a slippery surface.

I’m not too surprised to see an fpga in it. For low production items it’s often cheaper than manufacturing custom silicon.
