Sony has released it's latest version of their popular SRS-XB23 Bluetooth speaker. What has changed from last year and more importantly, how does it sound? I compare it with last year's XB22 model and the JBL Flip 5!

better get a soundcore motion+ for 70€/$ only! it destroys the flip5, the sony xb23, the charge 4,...everything up to 150 euro at least. it has tweeters which they all dont have.

@@specops1214 I totally agree. I just got my xb23 and the sound quality is PHENOMENAL. Normally I wouldn't care too much for a bluetooth speaker with bass, but this is just too good. Best of both worlds, bass and no distortion.

Hi, i am using the Bass Booster App on my Android mobile to connect to the xb23, and it is excellent. The App brings out the best in this speaker. There are lots of different settings for you to chose from. Every room and type of music has a different setting..The App is free..Have fun...ps.. i did not like the sony app for this device. It is a very poor design and very limiting in it,s functions.

I reviewed the Sony XB23 and compared it to the Tribit Stormbox and surprisingly the Stormbox sounded better in lows, mids and highs to my ears.

I just bought a XB23 a couple of days ago( 5-8-2021) at walmart. I'm nervous about this video, because I bought the Sony for its looks. So I hope purchasing it wasnt a mistake. Thanks for the great video. I like the fact that you get to the point and not talk jibberish. Keep up the good work.🎵🎶

I noticed that sony sounds more natural. The harmonics on the voice are representative. while the jbl has a groovy sound, especially in the voice you can see where it's modulated a lot in the low frequencies. you should definitely hear it live

@@ChrispyThings Thanks ! Apparently you can turn off the "auto disconnect" so at least once you pair it, it will stay on and not disturb audio with beeps. (It will be used for a yoga class, and the wonderboom used now doesn't have any of these features unfortunately)

I get that it’s a portable travel speaker, but I really wish it had WiFi connection option. It’s way better sound quality over WiFi, and I wanted to add it into my overall hifi setup as an additional speaker (for the kitchen). Oh well.

It doesn’t come with a mount. Just the lanyard. I’ve never looked to see if they sell them as options

Get the xb23 because it is ip67 and it is dust proof and sand proof aswell and if it does fall off it can survive 4 feet of drops as the jbl flip 5 can’t handle the durability as the sony can

I would go with the xb23 because it has bluetooth 5.0, whereas the flip 5 STILL uses 4.2 if battery lifespan is your top priority, the flip 5 does have a longer battery life (12 hours compared to 7~ish)

also not to mention the flip 5 only has one mono speaker! not sure if that matters to you, but from what i've heard in other channels, it seems that the xb23 has better sound quality than the flip 5. dont take my word for it, i hope you do enough research on this yourself before buying!

XB23 better due to later technology Bluetooth 5 and support for higher quality codec AAC/LDAC and USB C connection and there’s real stereo setup compared to Flip 5

Because we live in the days of Bluetooth, unless you’re like over 40 and still use those, this types of speaker companies mainly focus on what us teens or early 20s people use more, and tbh we don’t even use sd card slot

I don’t have a direct number. I spoke with Aviators founder many times about the Slide wallet through email though. I’d think that there’s a contact us link on their site. I’m not absolutely sure but there usually is.

Nice review, thank you! I'm looking for a speaker for classical music. Grabbed the Sony SRS-XB13. Then rethought and just bought the JBL Flip 5. Now I'm wondering about the Sony SRS-XB23. I'd prefer a speaker without heavy, overpowering bass which tends to muddy the rest of the sound. Thoughts? Preferences? Thank you!!!

Once you get in and adjust the settings in the app, you can take most of the bass out of this speaker. I think it sounds great.

@@noelinma8838 generally jbl tends to have more of a overpowered bass, where as sony is more like the Sound actually is. Overall Sony is more balanced but still has a extra bass mode for when you really want it. So I would say sony would be better for classical music, but you really should hear these speakers in person to decide. Hope this answer helps a bit if you still need a speaker

It’ll stay stable if you don’t move it. But there’s nothing really keeping it in place while horizontal since it’s cylindrical and doesn’t have “feet.” I just keep it upright, problem solved.

@@ChrispyThings one more question sorry. Does inactive use put this speaker into sleep so it saves battery? I can see myself forgetting to turn it off and thus always having a flat battery when not using it on my computer desk
