Not necessarily clearer warmer sound signatures tend to sound more muffled and brighter tend to sound more clear I've own both sony sounds better inside and jbl sounds better outside due to brighter speakers do better in open areas and warmer speakers are better inside jbl gets harsh inside at max volume while sony doesn't it's all personal preference only jbl speaker I don't own is the boom box 3 and just order the jbl hid speakers

Back in 2013 the Bose soundlink mini was better than the JBL Charge. UE sat in the middle. However, since then, JBL has always had the lead. UE just looks different, no improvement in sound. Bose may be slightly better in terms of sound dispersion and clarity than they were with the original SL mini.

@@yogenpradhan7503 hey I actually owned both of those jbl and sony speakers, they both sound awesome except Sony are sounded muffled. But for long listening experience, Sony is better choice however JBL is great for party bomber

I noticed the way sony makes there speakers they stay consistent all the way through the volume range where the jbl sounds better overall till you go completely max then jbl falls off a little,just from my experience

If you properly run in the JBL the treble should mellow out. Takes about 25-100 hours of use at low/medium volume to break them in properly. Don't turn it up loud until it's broken in.

​@@The.JZA.it's a very minimal change after the supposed break in period. Not enough for the casual listener to really notice.

Yeah I think it's way better considering they lowered the price so in this case jbl loses for bang for buck

Even cheaper in the UK. You can get two Sonys for the price of one JBL.

I got the XB43 and it sound awesome, loud, clear and powerful bass

@@Johnny24rs I got it and I like it very much too but when it comes to loudness jbl is the better choice. For example my jbl xtreme2 can only be at 60 or 70% volume to closely match the xb43 at 80%. I like sony a lot but it's just not loud more so in an outdoor setting

@@gabrielv887 Yeah but with the loudness, you're sacrificing battery life. I work outside and use the XB43, and my coworker uses the JBL Extreme 2. We can hear both of our speakers from a pretty far distance in the same position but the JBL can be heard from about a couple more meters. The downside is his Xtreme 2 only last 4 hours at max volume while my XB43 can last 7-8 hours at full volume on Live or Extra Bass mode. We don't have access to electricity in the urban community gardens we work in, so we have to rely on a full charge from the start of our shift. Sure the JBL can last longer if you turn down the volume to like 80%, but our other coworkers simply don't listen they just want to hear their favorite songs as loud as possible. The temptation to turn it up higher isn't there with the Sony speakers so they just accept how high it goes and I don't have to worry about the battery getting depleted soon. But either way its better to get JBL and other competitors if you're paying the same price and want to maximize loudness. If you see a steep discount for a brand new or refurbished Sony speaker I say hop on it because it is great value. I got my XB33 for $60 and my XB43 for $100. I just ordered a refurbished Sony XG500 for $170 which is $10 less than the price of a brand new Motion Boom Plus. Strange thing about Sony speakers sounding muffled because in videos they sound muffled but in person my speakers don't sound muffled at all. My coworker who owns the JBL Extreme 2 says he likes the sound of my Sony XB43.

@@Daxter609 that is actually really cool to hear and that is very true my xb43 doesn't sound muffled at all maybe the xb41 because it had no tweeters but I loke they way it sounds but the only reason the jbl sounds louder is because it doesn't have the deep bass that sony has which is why I prefer sony over jbl

You also find that the Sonys are great for other types of music such as jazz, , latin, easy listening etc. Unfortunately KZfaqrs only ever demo with dance music or hip hop. Subjective opinion which I am sure I'll be corrected on. But I also think it could be an age thing. The teens/twentys have grown up in a generation of small computerised tech be it laptops, phones or portable speakers so are used to a more thinner open sound. Whereas the older generation had larger drivers and home hi-fi which also due to an older technology (discrete components) where naturally warmer.
