PhoneArena reviews the Sony Tablet S. Known now as the Sony Tablet S, this Honeycomb flavored tablet has a unique spin on the whole tablet design -- while throwing in some differentials such as PlayStation Certification and the tight integration with some of Sony's services. Starting off at $500 for the 16GB model, it obviously seems very reasonable, but it's going to take more to stand head above water in a sea of crowded tablets...

God, this was my first tablet. I used to be on it all the time. I used to play Crash Bandicoot constantly, it was amazing.

Refreshing design. I'd like to see higher resolution cameras though, and maybe a full sized usb port for easy connection with my PS3 controller. Overall I'd say this is still a pretty solid device. Great in depth review by the way.

It was either this or the iPad 2, I went with Apple but really was intrigued by this tablet.

@Moegitto well you bring up a good point--and Sony just lowered the price. But it seems like a good tablet compared to others. There must have been other non-Apple tablets there.

@Moegitto I def agree that the Tr Prime is prob the best out there now. It is weird that there were so many Sony's left. I would definitely stay away from the Thrive. A friend of mine has one and there re A LOT of bugs in it--I was not impressed. Sounds like you know what you are doing--good luck. Feel free to let me know if you get anything.

Another good thing about the sony s tablet,,,,they are sturdy. Still using ours even though they have been dropped many times (no cracks) and have had liquids spilled on them . Also, there is always help online to get things working again if you need it. I would say we got our moneys worth out of these ones, and they are still going strong. They held up while the other brands in the house kept breaking.

im still running mine with screen burn paid pound4 it paid 115 for samsumg note give me charging problem but this good4sound

@DeadlyKlown I def agree that there is more than just Apple. I am a big Sony fan, actually--have had one of their laptops for 3 years now and it still runs like a Lexus. But, I just don't think Sony is getting it in these harsh economic times. $499 is too much for any tablet--most of their items are just not priced right for me. I'm not paying $550 with tax for a Sony tablet or any other right now.

picked this up for $150 (i think its worth around that price), front camera sucks in artificial light, remote control app isn't a universal remote (controls devices separately), max resolution is 720p (can play 1080p but it will be choppy), full sized sd card slot doesn't add more storage (acts like an external hard drive), upgrading to android 4.0 is not recommended (gets more laggy and loses a lot of app compatiblity and functionality)

Good blacks? Looks ok but not good. Check out super amoled, there the screen goes completely off where is black and the screen is extrenely dark when turned off. If there is a black pause in a movie there isnt any background light, everything goes 100% black.

What i love about sony is that they actually try to be unique with their designs and software etc. Unlike Samsung. Seriously their tablets are almost identical to the iPad

@tixeeify not sure what that's supposed to mean, but this really is a hideous device in my opinion. I have a galaxy tab 10.1 myself and although I'm not a huge fan of Samsung I love the sleekness of the galaxy tab.

$499 is too much to pay for any non-Apple tablet, which sets the standard for all tablets, in my opinion. There is no incentive to by a non-Apple tablet if it is the same price as Apple.

@gamefanboy1 then just stick with that ! ipad has way better materials than this, ipad uses aluminium and glass while this uses plastic which is fingerprint magnet and feels cheap and glass. hence, the ipad is way thinner than this....APPLE FTW ;)
