Love that you included that the air passes through the air for the CH520. I needed that. For over-ear headphone, my ear feels the heat as there's no air and would get very uncomfortable.

Great review! Was searching for this comparison, couldn't find much!! Loved it! A couple of questions : 1. How's the sound leakage on both of them. Like which leaks more? 2. Which of these are more comfortable?

The sound leakage is more from the 520. almost negligible from the 720N. however, at moderate volumes 50-60%, it isn't much from the 520 either.

Just bought the 720s last week since I'm more used to over ears and I'm glad I went with them. Sound is great, they're comfy and I already love the noise canceling, even though I wasn't originally looking for that specifically. Also bought a case since I don't need them getting banged up iny backpack when going around my college campus.

Depends on how much traffic noise bothers you. If you want absolute isolation, then go for ANC. The passive NC of the 520 is enough to drown out small noises heard at home but not traffic.

Don't know if you've made your decision yet but I've been using the 520 for more than an year now and the lack of ANC is honestly its only downside. I didn't even know that it has a "passive NC" because I can hear basically everything outside unless I have some audio playing at medium volume at least.

Hi, great review, and I would appreciate you answering almost every comment/query in the comment section in a way it clears doubts of others as well. My query is which one is better: ch510 or ch520 - as for my case on ear would be better as i require less of noise cancelation with 2-3 hours of usage (watching a movie on tv)

Go for the 520. You won’t be disappointed. However, I would recommended if you can check them out at an offline store. That’ll help with understanding the comfort of the headphones.

Hi, what a great review this was! Being someone who doesn't get too involved in the specifications of technology I thought 15 mins would be too deatiled/long but I listened through and through. Thanks for doing such a thorough job and considering so many aspects. One question- how does the 520 compare to the Apple airpods in terms of sound quality and comfort. Have gotten used to earphones over the years so want to consider comfort and good sound quality while traveling/walking to listen to music, podcasts and possibly movies- should I prefer the 520 to the 720? Also, is the 3.5mm jack used for any purpose apart from gaming? Thanks again

hey, thank you so much for your comment! I think the difference between headphones and earphones is personal preference. I prefer headphones as I can hardly ever find ear tips that fit comfortably well especially when I am on the go. so for this, I prefer something like the 520 where I don't want noise cancelling and I need to hear the environment around me. having said that, "audio quality" is quite subjective and I highly recommend you go to an offline store and listen to the headphones before making a purchase decision.

You have a great knack for making these sort of videos if anyone hasn't told you already. By the way, can you help me pick between 720, XM4 & XM5 ? Do you think 720 is a XM4/5 lite ? If I go for XM4s, is paying 5-6k extra worth it for XM5s ? Thoughts?

The XM5s are uber premium and are worth the price. The 720N are for those who are on a budget and want great sound and don't mind compromising on the build a bit when compared to the XM5's. At the end of the day, value for money is different for different people. SO I highly recommend you go and experience the headphones before purchasing.

I used it wired with a PS5 and Xbox Series X for single player games and did not notice any lag. However if you are a pro player, I recommend dedicated gaming headphones.

Thumps up I am looking for good Sound Quality for day to day usage , i am not an audioprofile. just want to clarify if i should extend my budget and get the XM4 at Around 18K or Opt for 720N, is there a major difference in sound quality apart from much stronger ANC and other features or are they similar/close enough in terms of sound. if you are not an audiophile, then you can go for the 720N. they will not disappoint and will save you the money as well.

Both have their pros and cons for comfort. The 520 is more open allowing your ears to breathe for long use. If you want noise cancelling then the 720N is much better but I couldn't use them for more than 60-90 min at a stretch. the 520, I could wear for much longer.

Thanks for the useful review!!! I'm very undecided between the 520 and the 720.. I'm looking for a comfortable model both for traveling and for staying at home concentrated on studying and working, the TV is always on in the living room. It would be good if it was comfortable at the same time even when I'm away from home. I already have the buds2 pro as earphones with ANC, but obviously they bother me in the long run, which is why I was looking for headphones. I would like to have an honest opinion about my condition from you. Thanks in advance

Hey, thanks for the comment. So the thing is, the 520 will let the audio from the world leak in and the 720 will cancel the notice but again, you may not be comfortable with them for prolonged use. Why don't you try them out at a retail store near you and maybe you will get an idea of which are the right ones for you?

How are the 520 for studying? can they block some noise like fan and etc. And are they comfortable enough to wear them for 3-4hrs straight with glasses?

Comfortable enough to wear for 3-4 hours with glasses - Yes. Depending on the volume of the headphones they can block out some noise but not all. I suggest you give them a go at a Sony store before investing.

I personally haven't had a chance to hear the AKG K361-BT, but I hear they are very good for the price. I'd personally go for either the AKG or the Sony but hard to tell without listening to them. Maybe you can go offline and check them out at a store?

Hi, I personally think the 520 is more comfortable for long durations of use. the call quality is very good too. I personally cannot wear noise canceling headphones for a long stretch of time and if that's the case with you, then I recommend the 520. However, if noise cancelling is a priority, then you should try the 720 if possible before investing.

So, I think both have very good sound. the noise cancellation makes the 720 sound a bit better. The 720 is definitely more premium when compared to the 520. But both fulfil unique use cases. so, it depends on your use case, which one is right for you.

Great video! Can you suggest me my first ANC headphone? Just to give you a little background, I used Sennheiser HD439 earlier and really loved its balanced signature sound. Although at times I missed the punchier bass of HD439, I am not a bass head at all. Currently using the JBL Infinity Glide 510 (got it as a gift) only because it's wireless and lightweight. I also use it for my daily meets and calls. I am looking forward to upgrading my listening experience to something more crisp and with a decent ANC experience that can atleast efficiently block ambient noises like fan, ac, roads. dogs etc. I do listen to all kinds of genres except metal. I have shortlisted Soundcore Anker Life Q30 and Sony WH-CH720N headphones that fits under my budget. I can push my budget to 15K if needed. Which one would you recommend and why? Feel free to suggest any better alternatives as well.

If these are your first ANC headphones I have a question, have you used AND headphones in the past? because it may take some getting used to. At a budget of 15K there are some great options. By extending your budget to 18K you can get the Sony WH-1000XM4 - the previous flagship. amzn.to/3Qe8dSb. The 1000XM5's are uber awesome. you can check out my video for the same. Hi Sameer, hope you are doing good. Can you suggest between xb910n and 720n. XB910 comes with sony case. Did you ever use XB910n. I am confised between xb910 and 720n.

Hey, thanks for your comment. The main difference between the xb910n and 720n is that the xb190n have a more pronounced bass than the 720n. so if you like more bass, go for the 910n. If you like slightly more neutral sound, then go for the 720n.

Well, if you have already purchased it, then why go for something else? In my opinion, using the CH720N in a gym is a personal preference. The problem is that your ears can get quite sweaty in noise-cancelling headphones. Add to it the gym, and your ears could get uncomfortable. But since you have purchased it, what has your experience been like?

I personally don’t like my ears getting hot So I got the 520 Plus the battery lasts way longer ! They are great ! And they were on sale at Walmart for $39.99 Well worth the money Plus I only use them on discord to hear my friends as a headset or my games on my PC The mic I have is a Logitech so I haven’t put the built in mic to use which I’m never going to so I can’t speak on the mic quality So these are perfect for what I needed

Hi i know this is a bit late but wanted your opinion. I'm confused between 520 and 720. I don't care about noise cancellation or 3.5mm jack. I want sound quality (bass heavy is preferred) and no sound leakage. I can buy 720 but does it make sense to pay almost double the price of 520? I'm fine with on the ear design of 520 if sound leakage is not that much. Also, I game only on windows so when connected wirelessly, is there any noticeable latency or pag issues? Are 720 worth paying those extra bucks if I don't care about noise cancellation or will i be fine with 520? Also on amazon 520 are not sold by their flagship seller so is it reliable or do i wait for appraprio to sell them?

if you will be playing games on the PC, then go for something with a physical connection like 3.5mm or a dedicated dongle to avoid latency. rest, I think you've answered most of your queries yourself. The 520 have once leakage but at high volumes, it is more than i'd like.

Is leakage in 520 too much? Do you recommend 720 at their current price or do i wait for a sale ? I just want bang for my buck thats it.

Both can work with Bluetooth, if your TV supports it. But if you want 3.5mm connectivity, then you should go for the 720N as that one has 3.5mm connection. 520 does not have 3.5mm connection.

I am very confused between the two options. I don't care much about ANC if the on-ear CH520 is more comfortable than the CH720N. I know on-ear headphones can hurt if worn for long hours, based on my experience from about 10 years ago. So, are the CH520 headphones comfortable enough for watching movies, or should I go for the CH720N since they are over-ear? The CH520 price is really good, and I'm hesitant to spend more on a budget headphone like the CH720N because, for that price, I could even get the Samsung Buds2 Pro. However, I want to try headphones rather than earbuds. Man, if only the CH520 were over-ear, it would be perfect. What would you suggest?

I would recommend the 520 for the price. sure, the pressure on the ears is a tad more than id like, especially since I wear glasses, but I think over time they will get loose enough to get comfortable.

However, it's very interesting that you find the CH520 on-ear headphones more comfortable than the CH720N over-ear headphones. Almost everyone online and on Reddit seems to prefer over-ear headphones. It's intriguing that you find the CH520 on-ear headphones more comfortable for long hours of use

@@sohrabtakesthemic I guess I have too big ears ;-). I find the WH1000-XM5s to be very comfortable because of my big ears. I always preferred on ear cos they let my ears breathe for long use. It does get very hot here in India and breathability is quite important for me.

this is one of the best reviews i have ever seen! thank you for all the detail. i’m debating between the 520 and 720n because 520 is less than half the cost but 720n does have noise cancellation and is over the ear. my daily use would be for calls, while studying, commuting, in the office, and maybe the gym. i’m not too much of an audiophile and would mostly use them for podcasts, videos, movies, etc. and i don’t need amazing noise cancellation but it does help me focus. i have airpod pro earbuds, which i love, but they’re not the best for calls and i wanted some headphones. what would you recommend for my use?

Thanks for your comment. I would boil it down to how important noise cancelation is for you. If you absolutely must have it, then the 720 it is. If you don’t mind hearing things around you then go for the 520.

Hi! Quick question. Has anyone tried wearing the Ch520 with glasses and smaller earrings on? I used to have this issue with my old headphones that it pressed my accessories to my ear and it hurt (esp. my earrings). Does anybody know if these are anything like that? Are they tight?

great questions. While I wear glasses, the headphones do press just a little when they are new. but with time, they get more comfortable. If you have piercings around the ear, it should hurt a bit as these are on ear and not around the ear headphones. Possible for you to visit a local offline store and try them out?

The Noise cancelling of the XM5 is far superior. However, what you can do is go to a Sony showroom and try both of them. While listening to music with notice cancelling on, ask someone to play loud noises on another phone right next to you. this will help you judge the difference between the noise cancelling capabilities of both the headsets.

The 520 connects to the Sony headphones app on a smartphone while the 510 does not. This means you can control the sound profile of the 520 but are stuck with the default profile on the 510. having said that the sound quality of the 510 is still very good and a great value-for-money option for the price. the 520 is slightly more compact with their dimensions, but nothing that will affect you greatly.

I think you have answered your question yourself. But let's break it down into 2 simple points. If ANC is important to you, then go for the 720N. I think they should work better than the 520, especially for airports. But I like to take long walks and be aware of my surroundings. Also, in the summer in north India, it gets quite hot. So for those reasons, the 520 are my choice.

@@IdiotBox86Thanks, You're right, I have almost shortlisted 520 because of the size and it could be more versatile, 720 has one disadvantage it gets hot quickly inside. I use the oppo m32, but the drivers are not enough for many sounds. I tried the Samsung buds fe, even though music was rich, again drivers are small, it wasn't practical for me and signal strength of the buds are poor over 7 feet. - Thanks

In my opinion, if it is just about sound, the 720 are better. I found a bit of EQ tuning dramatically opened them up, and removed some of the muddiness.

depends on your use case. However, keep these factors in mind. If you want 3.5mm connectivity and noise cancelling then go for the 720. If you don't want 3.5mm connectivity and want to wear headphones for a long time, then go for the 520.

Sorry. Haven’t tested them. But the specs on paper peg the JBL Tour 1 M2 more to compete with the Sony WH-1000XM5s rather than the CH820n. So you may want to factor that. I would recommended the headphones in the following order. Sony WH-1000XM5 JBL Tour One M2 Sony WH-CH-730N However, I still recommend you visit an offline store and listen to them before making a purchase decision.

Negligible. the overall experience was very good. I used it on popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video and Hotstar. However, the lag is a bit prominent when connected via Bluetooth to the TV and gaming via the PS5 or Series X.
