I connected Apple TV 4K via hdmi to this Sony device. This gives it a whole lot of value additions. I can now keep my phone in my pocket and it acts as wireless screen mirror too! Much faster than weblink. Passengers get to watch youtube, Netflix, Amazon prime, apple music and other apps

I really don't care about wireless android auto. I care about the using my usb stick with flac files. No reviewer really shows the interface for this and how navigation is sadly. The quick start up time and very clean and strong 5v pre outs has got my attention though.

I have the 8000 and my only gripe is ypu can't swivel the screen like the pos Boss elite I had, but this is a much better unit. The android auto used to always disconnecr on the Boss. Never had that issue with the 8000. Thinking of the 8100 for my wofes sequoia. With the price of new vehicles I'd rather just update the head unit, and my wife doesnt wamt to give up her sequoia anyway.

I'm trying to play videos easy with no problems but have good sound as well. I stupidly bought the alpine ilx509 and I can't get it to play videos via hdmi even with the converter apple brand and high quality HDMI cord. I did the whole parking brake thing but doesn't play just audio. This really sucks. I gotta return it looks like to get this easy goin ax8100

It actually clips at 30. The sweet spot is about 25.

Other than the non-capacitive screen, the complaints about non wireless AA/ACP and the non HD screen seem kind of irrelevant as looking on crutchfield, literally no head units have both of those options for less than $1000, and with a floating 7in+ screen, less than $1200. Like this isn't a complaint about the video or review, imo if I can buy a Google pixel 5a for $300, I should be able to get an HD screen in a piece of equipment that's larger and doesn't need to spend as much money on smaller parts. But compared to the competition, there doesn't seem to be any real downsides other than no headphone jack input, as non capacitive screens are useful for people who might be wearing gloves, ie anyone that works in construction and is putting this in their truck, or anyone that lives in a snowy area.

Damn. What a flop. I love the speedy Sony UI on a 9" screen, but I'm not giving up a capacitive screen, wireless CP/AA (I use wired, but love the bundled GPS receiver), and HD Radio, AND HD screen. Like, this should've been $550 tops. I'll suffer Pioneer's UI on a 7" screen, lmao, and get the 5700NEX whenever that comes out.

At $650, this head unit leaves a lot to desire. Mainly the lack of a high deff screen and how slow it is.

Seriously, still no wireless CarPlay from Sony? I was actually waiting for their updated models assuming they would add it, you know… because every other brand has. So after waiting 6 months, I guess I’m going with Pioneer.

Feels like nobody has released anything this year, maybe due to the pandemic. Pioneer said a major fire (AKM) pushed back a lot of launches, >Originally the DMH-WC5700NEX was expected to ship this month (January 2021). However, parts shortages and the fire at the AKM chip factory delayed the launch. “It’s a combination of the AKM situation but also…I think globally, COVID-19 definitely put a compression on parts overall,” said Pioneer VP Marketing Ted Cardenas.

@@JohnnyBouldin ah, no way?! A 7" panel for $1300; that's the WC5700NEX? I always thought the 5xxx series was cheaper than the 6xxxx/7xxx/8xxxx series. Some news reports claimed the 5700NEX would be $600-$700, so like a C5500NEX replacement. At $1300, a 7" DIN would cost more than the 10" WT8600NEX. Is this the supply constraints? I don't think a 7" will sell well at all for a kilobucks.

I bought that hdmi to usb c wire and some screen pops up that says samsung dex not supported and phone mirroring doesnt work.

Samsung DEX is their desktop computer type app, select screen mirror. You should be given an option.

Hi I recently purchased the xav-8100 but it seems to have a lower brightness than the previous xav which I was using (xav-5000) it seems to have a matte kind of display which in sunlight is barely visible I didn't find any videos related to this on KZfaq please help is it a fault in my unit or am I missing something?

Hi there, if the radio ain't compatible with maestro rr, should I rely on Sony's harness to retain my steering wheel controls? I'll loose voice assistant tho, thanks in advance:) or is it possible to install it alongside maestro rr even if it's not fully compatible?

For steering wheel controls you can use the PAC SWI-CP2 Steering Wheel Control Adapter. I have it in my car and works great. Along with the AX3250 radio.

Swipe down from the top on Android and turn DEX off. If you purchased the true Apple connector you should have no issues.

At max volume, it's sending a very clipped signal to the speakers. So never do that
