Hello. At what temperature does the overheating warning come on for the Xperia Pro-I? Was that updated. I have an Xperia 1 iv and it throws the warning at 40 degrees Celsius, my Xperia 1 ii did not throw a warning at that temperature. The cameras are great, I just hope they increase the threshold by 5 - 10 degrees.

@@GodAtum: Well he was comparing the phone with the ZV-1 but I do agree that they are two entirely different devices designed for different purposes and, as you say, at very different price points. The microphone on the Xperia 1ii isn't great but I do use the phone as a second camera when I need one.

@@Justgambleit: I like the Xperia 1ii very much but it does have limitations. The microphone is adequate indoors and the camera is great when I need a second camera. I think that the Xperia 1ii is the best smartphone I've ever had. That said, I'm curious about the 1iv but not yet convinced that I can justify the additional expense.

a zv e 10 with an 1.4 lens will probably destroy the xperia in low light and with quality and bokeh

The correct choice. People are crazy to think that mobile phones with those tiny sensors (flagships are now coming with 1”) can produce better images than a big aps-c camera.

I think keeping it as a separate accessory is a good idea. It's not something that everyone (myself included) would have a need for, but there's already an external monitor option. A few other phones have done it in the past, but I imagine that added cost and space requirements just didn't make it worth it. That being said, the outer screen on Moto and Samsung foldables does a pretty good job of it.

@@Justgambleit It's absolutely fantastic very fast great for movies games the camera is amazing the battery will last 3/4 days depending on usage definitely worth the money.

That's the gone era! Now Sony does only care for "Content Creators". I myself had started with the k750i..all the way till k850, and c905 and later on Xperia Acro S, till Xperia XA1.. Now, Sony is just like the Stars In The Sky.. You can seen them glow, but not touch. Them with that price tag!

Tbf it has a dedicated shutter button which is quite nice. But yes, it's not going to be quite the same as have the weight and bulk of a proper camera, even a compact. But then a phone literally sits in your pocket all day everyday, so if you have something of this quality with you all of the time, it starts to make you think.

Tbf, from other reviews, taking a quick photo, for instance, won't be as good as an iPhone or Samsung of the same flagship price. But you have more control and potential in the images. So think of it as the Sony being aimed at people who want the most quality but are willing to work for it, and happy to live with the quirks. Vs Samsung who are aimed at a more general audience so will be very streamlined and easy to use. It's also quite expensive, and in my opinion if you're not into the whole creative features for cameras and music etc. it doesn't seem work the high price tag. I'm a pro videographer so very curious about some of the unique features (can be a monitor for cameras, an insane review by James Mathews if you're into cameras and it literally looks like a pro camera). but even then, I have pro cameras, so still tempted by the total convenience of an iPhone or Samsung as an alternative to the pro stuff I also have. But yeah, headphone jack if you want it.... but it's a lot of money to just get that back in my personal opinion. But just giving a counter opinion because the other comments are just like "Buy it" and I don't think that's necessarily the case.

As I'm getting older I'm wanting to like do more photography of nature rather than selfies and I long walks and the xperia phones for music is just amazing I don't like to follow the crowd when it comes to phones, that's why I can't wait to remind myself once again why I love sony phones

I'm right there with you. I had the z3v, then the xz2 compact, then the 5ii and now the Pro-I. They're all awesome same just get better... But the price tag. Gah! I think the 5iii is the sweet spot, still $900!

All carrier phones are bootlocked. They never have the second SIM card slot either,

Michele get pro-i. I have that one and it produces better images specially in low light due to 1 inch sensor. I can give you tips on how to get better images out of it too.

Sony isn't a copycat, except for that no charger thing smh....

@@SonyEnthusiast it's not about copying. Samsung wasn't the first to include a pen anyway. I just see it as a useful must have for a creative device. If you're going to market your phone as the photography first phone, it would make sense to include a pen for precise retouching.

iPhone 13 pro and Samsung S22 ultra have the most consistently fantastic cameras on any smartphones currently, however you’d be better off with a £400 phone and a £700 camera if you are looking for the best image quality.

MKBHD is a tech youtuber who does a "blind" photo test with all of the new phones on either instagram or his twitter account, and this is the first time that the iphone made it out of the first round. People prefer pixels the most with samsung and sonys coming up next with the odd knockoff flagship following that, but never iphone

Yeah, I think the gap between professional camera and phone camera has been closed now. It doesn't make sense to spend £700 on a practical compact camera when the phone is similar quality and has apps that edit photos and allow you to share them instantly. So you may as well spend double that on a phone with a good camera, if not less for similar results. There's still some really incredible smaller cameras like the Fuji x100v that are small enough but have professional results. But the a6300 is such a good camera and not particularly large itself.

That's because it's the worlds least cinematic use of an actual cinema camera vs a smartphone which computationally renders the image in the most ideal situation considering the lighting. The Canon is a fully manual camera that can literally look like something you'd see at a cinema, but when half arsed (which is his style I'm not complaining) lugged about and exposed badly because he's not paying attention... yes a cinema camera will usually look worse than a smartphone. Also it requires proper colour grading etc. It's a bad example of a comparison and a bad example of a C70.

As long as they keep their stupid fixed batteries on smartphones, they won't kill compact cameras where you can have tons of extra batteries!

People are tied to Apple's and Samsung's ecosystems. And there's also the issue of carrier availability etc. Basically a whole number of issues that you need to resolve. That and the fact that their phones are twice the price of their cameras. It's an apple to oranges comparison.

"Ecosystems" is a hip way of saying limited choices.

@@SamiiYou all good and true points. I can't argue with anything you are saying. And honestly I think there are several reasons for some of the issues you raised. However I would argue that the eco-system argument is not that strong regarding Samsung. They still have to use Android like everyone else. But I digress.......yes...unless or until Sony addresses at least two of the issues you mentioned.....namely availability through carrier support and simply being sold in more countries, and the price I also don't see them moving any large amount of phones. But then that's also why they are clearly focusing on communities of interest. The photographers I mentioned (as well as hardcore media consumers and producers, and gamers). Full frame 📸 are expensive. So the prices of the flagship Xperia models is what professionals, prosumers, and hobbyists will pay. And the type of people who will be less concerned about an eco-system. And based on SONY's public earnings reports theory Xperia division is making money and the overall number of phones sold is increasing. So if they are doing that with the high process we must assume they are succeeding at hitting those communities of interest. So for now at least.... Xperia will remain a boutique brand among smartphones.
