I have the V, and it's an amazing device. Worth the upgrade from the IV. I do think this video highlights the different philophies of these companies. I find iPhone shots way too sharpened and artificial looking, while Samsung tends to over saturate. I prefer Sony's approach to make their phones replicate their mirrorless camers. I guarantee any mirrorless camera would have also blown out the sky. It's an artistic decision.

Why Xperia 1 V take on the yellow color of his shirt so low saturation, is there a way to change, my favorite color is yellow and I like to have my yellow color accurate as in real life! 💛 It suppose to be brighter in real life right? I prefer iOS as tool plus I want to get Apple Watch Ultra too, but I prefer more natural looking photo and video and I think Xperia is the one that can provide, do you think it is wprth to change and use Xperia 1 V as main phone or better get a camera like Sony A7C / C ii with 20 - 70 mm F4, but phone will always be easier and more often to carry, what do you think? For iPhone, I won't get the Pro tho because I love Yellow color and I will get the iPhone 14 6.1' Yellow, but I not sure should I wait and see if iPhone 15 has Yellow color too! Xperia 1 V focus and market more on camera but is still not over the top in picture quality, highlight still blown out, dynamic range still can't beat computational photography, only if theyable t add more OP while still retain their natural looking image quality, try use hsrdware more than software to achieve and improve their image quality but they only add new main camera hardware and no hardware improvement to ultra wide and tele photo, seem missed change or they want to retain them for Xperia 1 VI or else it will be less selling point for the next model, do Sony ever improve the camera quality with software like Samsung after the phone been released for sometime?

I think more budget will be needed to catch up to samsung's innovation but, if Sony really wanted to be the best phone with best camera well I think that's the proper road to take. Take into consideration also the personality of every user such as me i won't be really needing macro because I like shooting breath taking shots and I like the natural colors i get with Sony. As for the video I'm not really the video so what ever I have is a pass. Samsung's fine Apple's fine but in the end it's personal preference.

Regarding HDR in video recording for sony smartphones, the HDR doesn't actually get activated automatically when the scene has strong highlights. Sony smartphones doesn't use AI to detect the scene and automatically activate HDR for video recording, it's just the white balance and exposer that automatically gets adjusted while video recording, and keeps the HDR manual. For sony smartphones the HDR must get manually activated to get the use out of it. So I would say it would always be more fair to keep the HDR activated on sony, while comparing it to other smartphones, since on phones like iphone and Samsung the HDR is always activated to bring out most details in bright and dark areas at all time. And especially since you are specifically judging the HDR for video. Then why not active the HDR before testing!

As a photographer, you will make adjustments to shot, you will shoot the same shot with various iso and settings. Then in post processing you will make your tweaks like back in the day in the dark room. I see friends of mine go to places and have shitty portraits and photos and they say dude how do you get such good photos. Skill will always win and knowing your tool. For the average Joe they need to learn photography.

With a few software tweaks, Sony could be amongst the very best in the smartphone camera game. Would also help if they made their camera experience more user friendly, they really have been aiming at the more knowledgeable user-type, and that is perfectly fine, but it severely limits their market range. If that's what they want to do, that's fine, but it's a shame. Sony makes excellent products, and we need all the competition in the smartphone market that we can get to push innovation and lower prices.

I just want a professional oriented phone, because I have it all the time with me, with as less as possible internal processing of the image. They are so many times where the mirrorless camera is just too heavy or not accessible to have with you. With Sony phone I can do some of the things that I can do with a camera, and with the others I feel that I'm limited in what I can do.

Thanks for the video even if I completely disagree with the conclusion. Sony footage is the only one in this comparasion witch looks like from the real camera. Footage from Samsung and iPhone looks...just like from phones overall. + 4K 120 fps in all 3 cameras which is a killer feature. +S-Cinetone which is great for daily videos. +Camera Application which changes everything. Sony is the KING 😁

Mahn oh man ia this a lovely device. Love it a lot. Absolutely joy to take pictures with it and great battery life. 8 hours screen on time with wqhd,adaptive display , always on display all on.

Also for other users, remember that all this is just AUTO MODE only. Now ALL things being equal and if the reviewwer was being honest then he would REPEAT this review in FULL MANUAL modes on ALL the phones. But reviewers WILL NEVER show Sony products in full manual as it casts Sony phones in a POSITIVE light. Seems Juan Bagnels, T Bay etc are the ONLY ONES that know how to review phones properly. TO FULLY review a phone you musty test in auto AND MANUAL. Thank you

You should have tried to get the best manual settings as well, and let that be it's own category. That's the thing I'm interested in, especially with Sony having the video app. I want to know at it's best how good the sony can be. Especially in a vlogging situation or a youtube situation. But without that info, it's hard to tell how good the camera is.

Wow! Congratulations to Sony as it has overcome my biggest issue with Sony: the lack of low-light dynamic in bright daylight! Samsung has indoor the best color-balance, Apple has the best indoor-exposure, Sony has also its situations when it shines (face). All are good. The differences in pixel-peeping can be corrected in all phones just by using some sliders. As I've been saying for more than a year now: there are no bad camera-phones anymore, all major brands are really good! Beeing a S22 Ultra user I'm waiting for the S24 Ultra. 😉

As for 23 Ultra, all the issue has been resolved, easily the best smart phone we have in 2023, no one came close. Now Sony, well Sony is an awesome device! You get the specs of a 500 to 800 dollar phone with twice the price, now all Sony need is people who actually buy and support their product, cause so far, they are dying in the phone industry. Having both 14 pro max and s23 ultra i can confirm that in many photos you have choose the ones that are better on iphone, because on 90% of shots samsung is completely better... Only in video iphone is better and that not always. And well stabilizer on videos after last samsung updates is better than iphone!!! Maybe you need to upgrade your s23 ultra.

Point and shoot (aka automatic) mode sucks, video quality not good enough, selfie camera sucks, zoom camera sucks, night shots are subpar from all cameras, but most importantly, there are 2 different Sony camera apps preinstalled with different quality photos and videos!!! It DOES need manual adjustments to take the best photo. Also, still overheating problems and short software support. I considered it too because of the MicroSD expansion, but I would (and will) stay away from this half-a**ed phone.

Hey Versus. I have saw both on iPhone and Sony there is a HDR problem. On iPhones you can go to the settings and turn off Auto HDR, which means on the camera app, you will have a HDR button like RAW. By turning it on from the camera app you can make it look better. Think Sony has the same stuff 👍

wrong; in video sony 1 V DOES have ultra satabilisation mode but you only get it when you set it to 30fps as standard stability is at 60fps only. Please retest this section.

This video makes me feel like you don't actually understand the way that Sony has built these apps. It's not supposed to be a point and shoot in anything, you have to manually adjust in order to bring out the look that you were refrencing in all of these examples. You were essentially comparing the normal HDR look of Apple and Samsung vs literally the worst looking a Sony photo can look. If you know how to use their mirrorless cameras I think you'll find that the superior lenses on the Xperia 1 V blow both of these phones out of the water. Of course in order to do that you'd need to know how to use the phone lol

What i know about sony's product is. They produce natural image for editor to edit to what they likes. So editors much likely select sony as their camera. But if you want instant image that ready to be uploaded select apple or other brands.

The S24 ultra has a super stability mode, i find it hard to believe the other 2 could beat that, ive tried it and it was almost like using a gimbal! The 8k video of the s24 was also a run away win. Can't believe the audio was so bad though, compared to the other 2 that is. My personal preference for most of the photos was the sony taking the win, even the low light photos that where deemed "unusable" in this video had a character to them, Sony almost looks like film roll pictures wich i think is nice, with a de-digitalized feel to them. I guess all these phones are beat suited to different things. I personally need the best video i can get, but most people just take photos, and edgey creative photos arent everyones thing. So i would say Iphone takes the majority win in that case. Im either gunna getvthe ultra or wait and see what the pixel 9 pro is wirking with. Absolutely brilliant video, super helpful comparison ❤

The s23 ultra is the best phone I've ever used and owned coming from the s10 plus and why i gave the a53 to my mother. The Samsung s23 ultra is better than the iPhone 14 pro max and Pixel no comparison, and I've used all 3. For those of us who know tech, we always knew Samsung was way more fun to use with more capabilities than the iPhone. I used to be an apple sheep many, many years ago, and then I transitioned and never went back. I remember apple phones being the most boring limited phones I've used. The only thing I use on my old iPhone 6s is the imessage period. Even using the 14 pro max irritates me because my s23 ultra does way more. Also, the camera is way better than the iPhone and more fun unlimited features. IPhone sometimes give the perception of better battery because it doesnt do anything basically. Now, with the pixel, I don't prefer the operating system, but I respect the pixel camera. Only gripe I have is the missing micro SD card. When it comes to those things like edge panel multi tasking, S Pen capabilities , 10 x perfect clarity, UHD 60 and hdr 10 video , all those unlimited features are close to perfect. The s23 ultra is the most value for the money, no comparison! However I will say the Sony Xperia V 1 with the micro SD card and headphone jack has impressed me and it will be the next one I get even despite the lack of facial recognition!

And you'll upgrade to the 24 next year while Sony owners enjoy their devices for 5 years haha. Samsung will make you feel embarrassed to own last year's model, where Sony want owners to feel proud and think about sustainability and e-waste. If you knew anything about photography you'd see how bad the shots are of the other devices. Good luck

..almost as if we're just nerding to nitpicking. Except for the ip's better video and the s23's zoom, they're all fine and shoots very similar. For perspective, competing professional cameras and lenses have more drastic differences but photogs still stick to their preferred brands and produce professional grade images. It's less the cam and more the user.

If you bought this phone, I don't think you should shoot only in auto. If you take time with taking photos in pro mode and editing it, it's going to end up much better

The Xperia 1V also wins at RAW shooting (best of them in daylight and indoors). Lowlight, their software is not stable at all... If they were upgrading their software, they were leading now on all aspects. Shame they don't listen to their most die hard fans and their testing. Please let them know for mk4 and mk5 there are things to improve for its 1500+... Thank you! PS: They were having devices that were amazing for front camera (XA ultra models).

First night shoot, iPhone removed completely shadows from your face and almost all shadows from the left side, Samsung and Sony did much better, but you said in video that left and right are better than the middle picture, I prefer more middle and right than the left one which is iPhone.

Can confidently confirm I shoot better photos with my Xperia 1 V on Manual than any of my friends with iPhones, Samsungs, etc. I'll be honest though - not the same case when shooting in auto. I rarely use it but when I do, 100% of the time I'm taking snap shots and those are times when you really wish the auto was better.

Sony is build for pro photographers. Those who knows how to set the cameras well enjoys it and can testify it's better in quality graphic than iphone and Samsung. I have watched many of thos comparisons and sony beat them both only its required a well good settings. And its only experts can set it that way.

I was a bit shocked to see these results as every other reviewer have praised a Sony Xperia 1V, and the 5V with the same main camera sensor, over the iPhone 14 Pro. I don't own any of them, but this raises the question how objective these reviews are. One might think that this reviewer took the worst Sony shots to spark conversations in the comments section to get this video higher up in the algorithm. Or others have cherry picked the best shots to prove their point. 🤔

Also the 960fps is WELL OLD,. so first came out with it YEARS ago on the xz premium! This was on the Quad bayer camera, they first did it as 720p then upped it to 1080p at 960fps. So again sony came out with it first , Apple and Scamsung literally COPIED the idea (like most other things)

KZfaq reviews are hard, you will always get some criticism. Was a good video so congrats. Sony in the hands of a photography will kill the other two, Sony has a completely different take on the phone, maybe a good video would be to learn the features and do a video on the Xperia in manual mode? Maybe be mind blowing what it is capable of.

Sony is closing the gap but they're still not quite there yet. Honestly, after owning Sony phones, I got to admit that their decisions are a little odd. I mean why do they keep certain features off by default? Things like AI super resolution zoom, HDR in videos and high quality stabilisation which are left off for some reason. Not to mention you need to use Video Pro to unlock lower shutter speed, higher ISO, higher bitrate and better noise reduction algorithm. I guess only those who knows can extract the best out of xperia, while others just get unnecessarily bad results.

"Dumb" people need a phone camera that will do the work for them. Professional people want to tweak the camera on the phone the way they want it. Sony does not make dumb decisions. The Xperia 1 and 5 serie are meant to use in combination with their Alpha camera line up. A Professional work tool. That is why Sony never did get rid of the micro sd card support and the headphone jack! It can also be used with an external microphone. Because of the audio jack this is also the best audiophile phone on the market right now. The speakers on the phone are also better than Apple and Samsung. I agree with the part if Sony would make a better auto camera mode the phone would sell better. But again it is not their target audience. And their update policy fails too. But using it purely for the camera, longer updates aren't needed. And btw a notch in a screen feels outdated these days. :P

Calling people "Dumb" could be misinterpreted as you having an unpleasant superiority complex or just feeling threatened for whatever reason and being a tad too aggressive in your defence of the performance and set up of Sony's mobile phone cameras. Such assumptions would be unfortunate as you make some really well thought out points, but the bitter aftertaste of your initial "Dumb" jibe remains throughout for me and doubtlessly many others. Such a shame. A little bit more grace and respect towards people with different needs and opinions than you may get you further in life than you could ever imagine.

AI super resolution zoom? High quality Stabilisation? What are you talking about? Lol.. The Xperia is the ONLY phone on the market with variable zoom lenses. They physically move like an actual camera lens. Why would Sony allow fake digital "zoom" when they have this technology? It's like if you magnify a JPEG on your computer and clear up the focus points- that's not appealing or is it photography! The Xperia is the leading device on the market with Stabilisation, as it the Sony Mirrorless line it's like the best of all manufacturers. You might want to do some research before you start your comments

dont buy Experia if u dont want to do lot of tweakings in the settings. If you want point and shoot go for samsung and iphone. Sony mobile has a different target market i would say, they are more on photographers and videographers familiar with mirrorless cameras, just in my opinion.

sony's phone is not made for the common public, it is for more experienced people who know how to move parameters in pro or manual mode, on the other hand, samsung and iphone are for the comfortable people who like everything in automatic, in terms of hardware and camera functions, sony is far superior to the s23 ultra and iphone 14 pro max, it is not dependent on AI like iphone and samsung

iPhones are not bad Phones in terms of everyday use but damn... i had so many Issues with my iPhone 14 Pro Max Camera, even tested a friends 14 Pro and tried third Party Apps like Halide and ProCamera but nothing did really help. Funny, because i was disappointed by my 13 Pro Max already. The Reason i sold it. Only iPhone i never sold was my 11 Pro. One of the best Cameras in a Phone ever for the Time and still it can hold up easily. Before the 11 Pro i had a regular 11 and the Photos was amazing already on there. They god worse with my regular 12 and 13 Pro Max. Post Processing Issue ? I dont know since the Third Party Apps didnt help eighter. Sony ? Sorry but the Phones do look cheap, i had serveral of them but they had so many Issues in terms of Hardware and software so i never bought one after the XZ5 Premium. Samsung ? Had a S22 Ultra before and was badly disappointed because of the Battery, stuttering and especially Video stutter Issues. So i gave it back and bought a broken Screen Note 9, restored and used it for a year or so. What a beast! So i gained back trust in Samsung. But before i bought a S23 Ultra i had a 14 PM which i sold after 2 Weeks of use. That was the Point where i took a S23 Ultra. After all it reminds me of my Note 9 in terms of no Problems at all.

In my shalow concept, sony photos in generally are looking less foggy maybe because the ia processing both noise reduction and shadow on Xperia is poorly compared to sansumg and apple, maybe my cheap 4k monitor doesn't have a good color accuracy. excellent video.

I'm saving up to switch to xperia just because I use sony mirrorless and to be honest it has been a habit of mine not to post a photo that hasn't been retouched.
