The main reason I'd want a Sony phone is because of the thin bezels, I love how Sony refuses to give in to the stupid ugly trends.

Samsung has the ability to hide the cutout separately in any app you want. But yeah I prefer the sony approach except the long aspect ratio that shit is a dealbraker.

Sony, read this if you care about your customers. One thing that is great is that you are different from your competitors. Keeping the headphone jack and SD card reader is great, but getting rid if the LED indicator is just being like the others. Bring it back. Also, put the chargers back in the box. Stick with your strength of being unique. Do not follow the others and get rid of things like chargers and LED indicators. We appreciate those things. Also, I appreciate that you have kept the thin bezels instead of putting an ugly notch on the screen. Some don't like that, but I like that you haven't followed all the others there either. That is one more aspect that makes you unique. Stay unique.

The EU has requested that OEMs remove chargers from the box to avoid e-waste. This is a request, and if Sony ignored it they would be forced with legislation. There is a good reason OEMs using the PD charging protocol are all ditching chargers, to obey the EU and be eco-friendly. Your request is anti-green and will be ignored. I agree with the LED, though; that is a shame. Ditto the bezels; I do not have a nervous breakdown when I see a bezel, especially when it is for a reason.

The SD 695g is now 3 years old, and this overpriced shitty garbage small Xperia phone, with that old chipset and with microscopic and too much narrow 6'1 inch, also worst aspect ratio, this piece of shit phone should costs not over than 80 euro, because is totally trash garbage small phone! It's basically the same phone as the 10 IV. The only difference is the front facing speakers and increased max brightness. Probably some minimal upgrades in the camera quality. Notification led is also gone and the charging is still slow. It's not cheap either. I was expecting for some big changes with the 10 V. Why, Sony? Why?

Better camera and better speakers, and battery I guess. For the segment is alright I'd say (but I wish it had a better SoC this time around, bare minimum same as Nothing Phone (1)).

They gonna take the headphones port away on the 10 VI lol. No notification led is just pure evil, that's like one of the main reason people buy the new Sony phones. People who use the 10 line definitely don't need better camera or speakers the 10 IV is still a better buy than this.

Sony is the only one I know, who still build a notification-led in their smartphones. I like the advantage of a notification-led. Regrettable that they did not choose it this time. 😥

@@TechnologyMan9575 i don't want more chargers, I got like several of them already! ranging from two wireless 15W and one Oneplus 30W wireless, wired warp charge 18-30-65W, Xiaomi two 67W and one 120W, Apple 12W and 20W charger and lastly Anker 45W PPS charger than I use for pretty much anything.

I'm an ultralight/lightweight hiker who carries a mirrorless camera. All I need is battery life, ability to navigate using a GPS/mapping app, basic entertainment like podcasts/youtube, an earphone jack because it's one less thing to charge, and excellent battery life. This seems to be ideal. I've had the Moto g9 power because of the 6,000mah battery, but due to it not being as efficient it ironically means that I get less lifespan, and when charging from my powerbank it drains more juice from it. Having a phone that is more efficient with a smaller battery is a win-win.

It's funny; I on the other side, being a dummy who e.g. didn't check *all* of the brands and forgot about checking sony too, have just bought an A52s this year as it still has a jack _and_ ip67. I regret not having the tele camera but overall not a bad choice

Hopefully this will be available in the USA. I need that crazy battery life + expandable storage. And that headphone jack is just icing on the cake! I can live without the gaming performance, since my main need is audio/video watching on the go, coupled w/basic cell/text/web browsing. This would be a perfect choice for me.

Still using my Xperia 10 III and won't be upgrading to this. For it's price point with Snapdragon 695 and 60hz refresh rate, I don't think it's good to upgrade. Well, the 48 mp camera, stereo speakers, and 500 mah more battery are definitely an upgrade. I love the front and back gorilla glass 6 model of 10 III.

Investigating new options to purchase a new phone. I went for Sony again after 5 years, I used the xperia 10 (4114) from 2019 until 4 months ago without a single failure even though I am very rough with my things.

@@joelconolly5574 That's the trick, so Nothing admits they make 0 money from their phone. Sony is not a startup, they need to get returns. Also, Sony invests in making the tech, Nothing just picks vendors and sums up the parts. R&D costs money. Then, it is up to the consumer to see if Sony is worth or not, I am not saying anyone should get it, but trying to explain the price differences and that's all.

@@Tripokaridos22 The Google Pixel 7a completely smashes the Sony in every way except for having a worse battery and being heavier. A 200$ Redmi note 12 has nearly identical performance to this 500$ Sony, it's just stupid. I was extremely looking forward to this phone but seeing how it hasn't been improved at all and its price will stay the same if not higher than the previous one (which was already overpriced) is just ridiculous. At this price range you're much better off buying a Samsung S22 if you're looking for a compact phone, cuz Sony just ain't it.

i have the last years model. This one doesnt look like an upgrade. 7% better battery life but its still the same chipset. i hope they change the chipset to a better one on the 6th version. 4k video would be nice as well.

Poco X5 Pro has the same battery for Half the price, AMOLED HDR+ panel, 12GB ram, better camera and video, AUDIO JACK SD card slot, DOLBY Stereo Speakers and 5000MAH battery and it COMES WITH A CHARGER for HALF the PRICE. Sony is doing iphone moves here.

I would kill to have something again like the Xperia Mini Pro or Xperia Compact X but with much more storage. The Mini Pro had 1 GB, haha! So I had to upgrade after 5 years to the Compact X, fits so nicely in my hand, not too small, it was perfect.

@@Schmidteren My Mini Pro still works, but had to replace it in 2017 after 5,5 years due to obvious storage issues and not going past Android 3. The Compact X sadly gave up after just under 6 years of using it. I try to stretch as much life out of these things as I possibly can, lol.

Well I think it depends on what you have and what you want. If you already have 10 III or IV, you probably don't need to upgrade in the first place. And if you are looking for a phone where compact form, and headphone jack is a must, this and Asus Zenfone (which is twice the price) are basically your only options. Not to mention that Xperia has expandable storage, no notch or hole for camera and a great battery life (helped by "weaker" SoC that you won't notice if you are not playing games). Yes, upgrades are minor, but it's selling at basically the same price of 10 IV where I'm from so...

can you suggest what better options there are? 3.5mm jack and microSD are a must, though, otherwise it's not an alternative. my Galaxy S10 screen finally shattered after 4 years, so I'm sort of between this phone and the HTC U23 Pro. the Asus Zenfone 9 was on my list until I learned there's no microSD slot!

If the video quality was better I'd probably go for this phone. One thing I use my phone for is filming skateboarding clips and an action sport like that at only 30fps seems like a bad fit. My moto g power 2020 does 1080p 60 and I think 4k 30 and costs about half the price(I paid 200 for mine at least a few years back). Still on the hunt for a good smaller phone it seems. I also have mixed feelings on how long these sony phones are; to me that just would hurt pocketability and kind of defeats the purpose of a smaller phone to me. The Zenfone would be my go to if it wasn't for the price and I do prefer a microSD slot as well since I put mp3 music files for offline listening(don't do spotify/music streaming). The Fairphone is also something that lines up with my ideals for a phone(repair-ability), but they didn't include a headphone jack and I think the newest model is also too big for what I'm looking for. Oh well, my moto g power 2020 is still functional but it does get laggy often enough to be annoying.

Just bought it, i don't like that it runs an animation on every app you open or close, makes it seem less snappy. But that aside it's a really nice phone, a bit longer than what i prefer as i come from sony XZ2 compact, regardless you can't go wrong with the 10 V.

I absolutely do not care about the camera capabilities and gaming performance. That is how I define a phone for minimalists.

I mean, I would debate you on whether or not all of those are requirements to be considered a 'minimalist' phone, I must say, the rest of the specs do sound good! We need far more people wanting SD support, headphone jacks and smaller form-factors. I just wish Sony's weren't typically so darn expensive.

Had my X3 for 4 years beat the living hell out of that phone using it as a flash light while reparing car, that phone was covered in oil and water many times, the 5000mah was still impecable everything was. They are 10x better than most sony phones and ironically performs better than this much newer sony.

@@keonxd8918 some do, realme, redmi and poco options have the jack (it is a must for me as well). Sd card don't remember by heart, personally I don't use it that much since I already struggle to fill up an internal 256gb rom.

Does anyone know if this will work on AT&T in the US? I would love to purchase this phone but its not listed on the compatible phone list on AT&T website. I know technically it should since this is a GSM phone but the last time I purchased an unlocked international phone it locked out my data and I had to call AT&T to fix it.

Hello everyone, I bought the new sony xperia 10 v a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I realised that something was wrong with the microphone. When I make a video call via whatsapp, google meet or others, the dial tone is initially quiet, as I have set it. When someone then accepts the call, I hear the person very loudly, although I have set my phone to the lowest volume. The person on the other end hears me very quietly, although his phone is set to the highest volume. According to Sony, I have carried out a software repair without success. Interestingly, I can be heard normally on normal calls and I can also hear people normally. Voicemails also sound normal. Does anyone have a similar problem? Or does anyone have an idea if there is anything that can be adjusted?

These sonys look like they're from 2013 with all the bezels and such. Idk what happened to sony phones, they were really popular with their Z series but that was like 7-8 years ago.

I owe 10 III. The battery life became short so thinking to buy 10 V. Phone is really good. The best part is long battery life and small size in hand. Sony just keep it up.

i don't even mind the 60Hz screen, but if only the chipset were updated and they had put more effort into the camera (I mean they even make the sensor themselves?), I'd seriously consider it, but you can't recommend this phone at this pricepoint in this day and age with these flaws

Using this phone for a week and I can say the battery life is superb, as I can get 8-10 hours screen on time. Performance is decent for for Whatsapp/Gmail/Twitter/Browsing/streaming msuic, as long as not multitasking Good companion phone if you have primary/flagship with bad battery life.

@@Lord-Darkness well that is just normal for every single battery powered device, every single battery, no matter if is even crafted by the NASA, is gonna deteriorate with time, specially if it's not taken proper care of, and the vast majority of people don´t have a clue of how to take care of battery for it to last longer.

@@virskovskiy7894 The chipset. In real life usage it's not fully optimized, apps load really slow , multitasking is poor, etc. I will avoid it like the plague. Get a mid-range Motorola or Samsung instead.

Just 1080p@30Hz? My old XA2 Plus had 1080p@60Hz and 4k@30Hz and there is not bad HDR. If you take inflation into account it was similar price (around $250 5 years ago). Looks like I have to switch to something else, maybe Xperia 5?

@@pablobeneitez9608i have an Xperia 10 III so while it isn't the exact model, it's almost identical, so - it can get a little warm sometimes, but it's nowhere near any level of overheating. that said, this chip doesn't have much to overheat with in the first place

Sony Smartphones is a business that has struggled for many years. It would have been shut down if it was not backed by Sony Inc. Maybe its days are numbered as even bigger players like OPPO are heading for rough seas.
