Sony Xperia Ace III First Impressions | 5.5-Inch Display with 5G Chipset (2022)

Sony Xperia Ace III in modern reality can be called a compact smartphone. It has a 5.5-inch screen with a body height of 140 mm and a width of 69 mm. The display has an HD + resolution and is covered by the latest tempered Gorilla Glass Victus, which is commonly used in flagships. In addition, the device is protected from dust and water according to the IP65/68 standard, the back cover has a matte texture that is unique to each of the four available colors.
The "heart" of the smartphone was a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor with 5G support. The battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh is responsible for autonomy. The manufacturer promises no noticeable degradation of the battery for three years of use. The device is also suitable for older users, as it has a special simplified interface mode with large icons and text.
The main camera is only one - with a resolution of 13 MP, f/1.8 lens aperture and the ability to define scenes to optimize the resulting images. Support for HDR shooting has been announced. Other features of the gadget include an NFC module and a classic audio jack.

Of course, Sony makes almost all stock Android phones. This is a very good option with a small screen.

Looks really interesting, especially when you search for compact Android Device and you DO NOT want to take old OLED flagship. Price looks a bit overpriced, sorry for tautology, but for JDM Sony it's surprisingly cheap.

@@criticaltech7091 yeah indeed. There was era when large screen phones were popular and now ppl are switching to foldables. I've also bought Sony Xperia xz2 compact and put of my big screen phone in locker. Now my hand and me are fully satisfied 😁

Hi! one stupid question; Can i change the Android UI language from japanese to english or spanish? or does it have a customized japanese-only android layout and no other options are available? thanks!

Hai, thanks for the question, yes you can change from Japanese to any other language. Sony manufactures its products with a multilingual interface. Also, you will not have problems with Google account authorization.

there's 3 versions in japan and the most different is which bands they support so you should check the band in your country. and more, only docomo version has docomo logo in backside and it looks so lame, so i recomend not to buy docomo version😢 i hope this comment helps you!

build-in eSim and single nanoSIm slot. Theoretically you can run it in dualsim mode. I'm gonna try it and say in month if wont forget

At this point it's available at 150-160 USD plus roughly 30-35 USD VAT due from Japan through eBay. A bit less on Amazon. Overall I guess it's neither too cheap nor too expensive for what essentially is a niche product.

... aand ultimately, no global premiere of this phone happened. In October of 2022 a rumor said Xperia Ace IV would likely be available globally... It's early February of 2023 when I write it and still no update on this front. If I had to guess, Sony will unveil Ace IV along with 1 V and others during Barcelona MWC 2023 which is three weeks from now. Fingers crossed.

@@Daniel_RO-TM As of April 2024 - nothing, regrettably. Looks like that model has been scrapped. Funnily enough, my Ace III (SOG08 version) received Android 14 just last week.

This one is better for me since the model is new. But xz premium, it was released back in 2017, the phone is already 5 years old. And this is the lifespan of most devices, especially when it comes to batteries.

I just pre order this phone from my malaysian seller. I did saw a person review this phone in reddit today. He said Pro : decent battery, built like a tank, cheap sony phone Con : screen is too dim under bright sunlight(cant see anything), camera looks worst than XZ that were released in early 2017, hisbphone quite laggy for 480 chipset, its felt like chinese phone than sony He said his phone stuck at android 12 although other commenter said the only way to uodate this phone yo android 13 is using japanese vpn

Skip this. Get the samsung galaxy s10e. Overall size is thesame with thinner and better screen. You also get the snapdragon 855 with 6 or 8gb ram together with better android 12 and securities.
