Steps:
Step 1 Power off and Take out the SIM card tray
Step 2 Remove the screen
Step 3 Remove the motherboard bracket
Step 4 Remove the motherboard
Step 5 Remove the battery
Step 6 Install the new battery
Step 7 Test the battery
Step 8 Install the screen

I just replaced the battery, because it was not anymore charging. It said that it charged, but the charge didnt increase, in the end it was 1%. This video is very thorough, it helped a lot, thanks! But with the replacement battery I seem to have the same effect: it shows, when switched off and charging cable switched in, that it is charging, but it remains at 8% since half an hour. Is there hope, that it will charge in the end or is this the sign for a too old and broken battery? Thanks for help...

5:40 if you need to change the battery every again, how can you access it then, since the new adhesive stripes dont reach the front now, that you could pull them out?

You can use any adhesive you want. Simply use something not too strong so it can be pried out easily enough. It is there to fixate the battery a bit so that the connectors won't lose contact by just shaking the phone... the original adhesive was not too strong either - that's also why it was possible to get it out so easily.

That's why I don't put any adhesive under the battery. I just use some regular tape on the side of the battery to loosely hold it to the frame.

@@kex1xik The old adhesive is no slouch - but I was thinking again as I watched this video what a marvel these Command-style adhesive strips are - strong when you want them to be yet pulling out pretty reliably when you pull from the release tabs.

Does anyone knows the life time expectancy of Xperia XZ2 Compact battery ? My 2 x XZ2 Compacts are by now almost 5 years old, they are still OK but discharging faster .

as mobile phone repairmen myself what i know is, normally battery life expectancy is around 1 and 2 year or so, that is when the user use and recharge the phone normally for 1 or 2 days per charge, because battery performance will start declining after 500 cycle of recharging and it depends on the quality of the battery itself. conclusion is your battery is still good because there's no short, malfunction or low amp or even leak that'll causing the phone won't start but the capability of battery to hold the energy are weaken. and yes you better change you battery so you can get a longer usage time.

XZ2 is significantly heavier than XZ1, is it mainly because of the battery being heavier than XZ1? If so, is there an alternate battery that would be lighter?

I don't see any NFC tape on the original Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact batteries. Do we absolutely need it?

Using the heat gun / hot air soldering station you can carefuly remove it from the old battery and put on the new one, no problem. Tried that yesterday.

Hello, I did the Akku 🔋 change by myself with my older Sony xperia compact model. There the original / genuine glue made it again after reassembly and finger pressing around . I still use the old Smartphone from time to time and it did not open. Bye, I keep Fingers crossed for your project

If it was old (and they all are now) it wasn't very waterproof any more in the first place. The seals aren't expected to be effective forever, I'd be careful even after 1 year. You could even improve it's waterproofness if you do a good job of applying a replacement seal when you have it open.

Welcome to our *throwaway society* !!! Manufacturers aren't interested in the reusability of their products. They rather want you to buy a new one, once a single part is broken - or charge u a ton of money by letting their "experts" repair your product. The correct term for you to goole is "planned/ built-in obsolescence". Remember when you could easily dismantle your whole phone with a couple of screws? Well now everything is glued - and their excuse is "we made it waterproof". Thank god for thrifty repair guys like the above!
