Another note, when the video started off, I actually preferred the #2 footage! But once you moved indoors the #1 footage edged it out, especially in the low light bedroom, #2 had a lot more noise. I’m viewing on a 75” 4K television though 😆

Right?! Yeah I just watched it on my 75" 4K TV too and had similar thoughts... some scenes were more about personal preference rather than quality. But by the end of the video I think it was clear which was the more robust camera. The price difference though....

1min in and 1# is definitely ZV-E1 and 2# is ZV-E10, it comes down to dynamic range and boca it’s pretty apparent but it’s all depends on lighting and other filming scenarios
@thesahdstudio
@thesahdstudio 2 ай бұрын
Hehe nice! I was wondering how fast it would become obvious. I tried to throw some fake outs in there but I think you're right about the dynamic range really making the footage stand out. But without the side-by-side I think the zv-e10 would be absolutely good enough.

You just can’t beat that object/background separation of full frame, but other than the low light shot, the e10 held up well enough!

Right?! I agree. And I was impressed more than I thought I'd be after seeing the footage side-by-side. At first when I brought s-log 2 from the zv-e10 into Resolve it didn't look quite as good, but, I was able to tweak the footage more than I expected and it just got there. The value is fantastic. It's the Honda Civic of cameras 🤣

I went ahead and picked up the A6700 and I'm obsessively watching reviews waiting for it to arrive. I just can't justify the E1 just yet, and even though I'm 99% video right now, I think the viewfinder will get me back into shooting photos on it as well and I can disguise myself as a photo enthusiast before switching to vlogging. 😁 I'm hoping I can get away with the lack of dynamic active stab because it crops in so much anyway, and just use catalyst with a small corp if needed in certain scenes. I'm not a fan of doing just the talking head stuff. I'd like to at least incorporate some handheld content in all of my videos (like you do), and I'm just done with having to deal with the ZV-E10's rolling shutter, horrible menu, and lack of ability to create separate presets for photo and video, let alone more than 1 that won't reset when I format the SD card. That in and of itself is why I've taking 1 photo...literally 1 on it in almost the two years I've had it. For example, if I switch from video to photo, I also have to change the picture profile and other things so I just gave up on switching. Yes, it won't be as good in lowlight, but I've found that I can reduce a lot of noise with Davinci, even if it takes a lot of time to process.

Haha well that's exciting. I get lots of comments on a video I did talking about the a6700 and people seem to be really happy with it. Did you pick up a lens with it as well because if I recall, you were just rocking the kit lens on your E10? And I know... I'm kind of with you about taking pictures. I see other people that always have high quality pics of their family etc and think I should take more pictures. I do it once or twice a year but my setup is mostly tuned for video so I never think to grab it. Can't wait to hear your first impressions!!
@TimBrownTown

@@thesahdstudio Oh yeah! I have the kit lens, the 11mm, the 35mm F/1.8. I'd like to get the Sigma 16 or Sony 15 mm for studio, but for now I can use the Kit lens and add lots of light for talking heads. That's doable for now.

As a camera nerd I could see that #2 was a crop body because of the DOF. Then when you did your bedroom I could really tell based on the noise and dynamic range. Keep the full frame the color is better and you can use all the best lenses.

Right? I was switching pretty quick without really focusing on the background too much, but like you said, if you look you can tell. Yeah I love the full frame. The aps-c IS convenient though with it's size and price. Fortunately I'm a bit beyond that though.

Thanks for justifying my ZV-10! I do want the ZV-1 but just cannot justify it at the moment. From what I understand, and I could be wrong, but from my research about a year or so ago, the ZV-1 shines as a mobile Vlog setup. The automatic settings do awesome walking from light to low light scenarios and keeping a solid and fast focus while in motion. I think the ZV-10 is great for a starting channel though and also does some excellent photography. A bit more complicated in the settings though especially for a beginner. Thanks for the excellent comparison video. :)

Glad you enjoyed it! While you are correct that it would be a MUCH better camera for vlogging you would have to make sure you get the right lens for it (maybe the 20mm Sony?) because FF lenses are quite a bit heavier. I've vlogged with this and, while the quality is good, the experience is not great in my opinion. I mean heck, that was why I bought the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, because I didn't like vlogging with this. But then I got that camera and realized I just didn't really like vlogging at all 😆

Thanks for the comment welcome to the channel! 👊 Yeah I love it too. It just feels more modern and the controls/menus feel a little more future-proof. Every once in a blue moon I run into issues with overheating but most of the time it's not a problem. It's usually when I'm getting carried away creating long content in 4k 60. But it just looks so good! If you remember, let me know what you think when you get it.

@thesahdstudio

@minekon yeah it's pretty temperature controlled in my little studio... Definitely happens regardless of the temperature outside. Is happening pretty fast when I was using my iPad as a monitor so as long as you don't do that you record times are pretty decent. Do you have any idea how long you would record for on average? Lower frame rates and lower resolutions it goes for a lot longer

Interesting, #2 looked better outside to me while #1 looked better inside. I think you'd still be a bit more future proofed with the ZV-E1, the sensor is just so much better and as you said, the tech and extras in it are much better.

I know, the zv-e10 surprised me a bit too. This is the 3rd Sigma 16mm I've had for crop sensor cameras. It's just so good for the price. It's not as satisfying to use as a G-Master lens of course... and I'm in my 40's now so feel a little entitled to the better quality lol. But jeez, it's hard not to recommend the cheaper lens/camera, even in 2024.

Ok I guessed it by a hair of a difference. ZV-E1 is a special camera indeed. In the super low light, did you push it to 12800 iso(second native)? It really cleans things up.
@thesahdstudio
@thesahdstudio 2 ай бұрын
Great question! But no, I left the ISO at the lowest setting (original native?)... I did so on both of them. I'm sure it really could have blown the E10 out of the water had I done that but I was in a bit of a rush and honestly didn't think to do so. I don't always do the most comprehensive tests but I still think it's enough to get the jyst of what these cameras are capable of. The E10 actually did better than I expected to. If it had more of the features of it's big brother I would consider keeping it but it just feels like it's has yesterday's tech whereas the E1 still feels up-to-date.

Yeah that's an interesting suggestion. To be honest, since I'm a bit of a newb, the fact Panasonic's not being full-frame has always scared me off a bit. But as I'm learning it doesn't reallllly matter. Maybe a bit. But also the resale seems a little tougher. It's like buying a Hyundai vs a Honda you know? It's always easy to sell Sony stuff but maybe it'd be a little tougher getting top dollar for the used Panny?

@thesahdstudio the s5iix is a full frame sensor. The GH7 isn't, but it's the first camera to be able to record in 32bit float audio internally when you use the xlr mount. The beauty of 32bit float audio is that you dont have to set the audio levels. both have fan cooling too, so they don't overheat
