I'm surprised the dress store doesn't have petticoats or dress slips. Slips used to be pretty common when I was a kid and that was in the 1990's to early 2000's.

The 1 and 2 dress is gorgeous. U can make it less sheer by adding a lining. My friend did something like that and it didn't look bulky at all. It all depends on a good material and dressmaker.
