Thank you, Don, for this video. 17 April 2024, I picked up the piece at my local range/FFL (purchased it for $292.00). The MC14G84 becomes my second .380, the other is a Ruger Security-380 (which is amazing). Even though I'm a big, strapping septuagenarian (6'4" and 275 lbs.) and ex-wrestling coach, arthritis has done a number on my left thumb. All of my 9mm's were chosen based upon their ability to limit perceived/felt recoil (and they do so with aplomb), hence my venture into the .380 world. It's a delightful shooter and NO felt/perceived recoil sensitivity after over 100 rounds.

I have an older Beretta Model 84, 13 shot .380 with "Pietro Beretta Gardone V.T - Made in Italy" markings. Funny story. I was hitting golf balls while walking my dog, probably over 35 years ago and found it laying on a football field. No magazine, but a live round in the chamber..still shoots like a dream.

I recently bought a Girsan MC1911SC in 9mm & was extremely pleased with the overall quality of the pistol. It’s a beautiful gun, all steel with the same black/grey cerakote color scheme, it’s been 100% reliable, I couldn’t ask for more especially at the price I paid (exactly $410 after tax, shipping, & FFL transfer fee which is insane). This was my first Girsan & won’t be the last. I’m glad they’re reviving these older models that still have a large following but will now attract a new generation of fans thanks to a lower price point. This Cheetah clone looks great. Awesome stuff 👍

I remember in the late '70s and into the mid '80s this .380 series of pistol were extremely popular. My partner in Fugitive carried it as a Browning DBA. That was a pretty gun! Smooth wood grips and deep bluing. He had a Bianchi shoulder holster for it. Nice rig.

These guns made in Turkey invaded the USA market very strong, well, the American made guns are very expensive nowadays.

Glad to see someone remaking arguably the best looking Cheetah; the 84BB models. Thanks for the video - I've been pretty interested in these and might have to pick one up. I prefer its smooth lines and no rail up front. Would love to see a version with a high polish blued finish and wood grips though! :D

Note, these Turkish pistols are NOT clones. They may look the same, but most parts DON'T interchange. I was gonna buy the 1911A1 until I found out that they are NOT interchangeable with the original Govt. Model.

Gersan has really impressed me of late, I own a Hi Power clone and now the G 84. The fit and finish is great and had no problems when shooting it. Now if Gersan would come out with clones of Gen 1 and Gen 2 S&W pistols ...

My first .380 was a Keltec P3AT, and that was just too light for the caliber at 7 ounces. I was amazed at how comfy shooting the Cheetah and Browning BDA were: bigger frame, so better grip, heavier, so less felt recoil. I carry it IWB, and it conceals really well. These bring the price back down to the point that they are easily affordable.

I bought the Girsan MC14 G84 about 3 months ago. It quickly became my preferred conceal carry gun. I had a minor stroke which effected my right hand and I have become recoil sensitive in my right hand. If you want to save yourself about $400 and you don't need a red dot or pic rail on the bottom, I highly recommend this gun.

Long wanted a Beretta 84 especially after I got a 92FS in the 1990's and the 84 is basically a miniature of that. The manual of arms is the same. But as he said by the time I was buying guns the 84 was out of production and the prices were already going up. So I have a Tisas Fatih 380B. I got it online for a bit less than the Girsan. I have had it out once and put around 50-60 through it with no issues. It was fun to shoot, feels great in the hand, and was accurate enough for me.

I would be awwwsome if they make the 84-F which has the de-cocker function and cuts on the front and rear of grip just like the Girsan G84.

I own a Tisas Fathah 13 cheetah clone. The Tisas is another great option. The gun even came with a sturdy case and tool kit!

I like the idea of this pistol because it's easy to conceal and fire one handed.

I have yeti hands making the micro handguns hard to shoot. I like the larger handguns and although I have 9mm guns I like the 380. Gonna have to look into one of these.

I'm thinking that as Girsan saw fit to change the shape of the back strap they could also have modified the shape of the trigger and trigger guard at the same time to make finger access easier.

Thanks for the review! Regarding the looks - with all the respect but to call Girsan an exact copy of Beretta is quite a exaggeration! When you place both guns side by side, the Girsan looks like Beretta carved with axe! Beretta has so nice and smooth lines, the design is just beautiful!

Just needs three things to really compete, Optics cut and optic height sights and a light rail and I would definitely buy!

If Girsan beats Beretta to the punch and reintroduces an 87 series cheetah first, or better yet a new double stack .22 cheetah clone, they're gonna have a serious game changer on their hands!

I’ll probably get a Girsan too but I’m holding out for bit hoping one of em offers a stainless version. ( I believe Tisas had one in stainless a while ago but I never see any on GunBroker ). Any plans to highlight the Girsan BDA?

I have the Tisas Fatih that is almost identical to the Girsan clone. The Tisas does come with a better box and extra magazine. Side by side comparison suggests to me the two are actually made at the same place.

180 degrees for a case to eject rather then your typical 90 degrees, this is why anything close to a Barreta design ejection style is not going away, you can see a malfunction with out having to twist gun to the left to check as other semi autos the 90 degree port

This is a copy of the 84 BB model. I have an 81 .32 acp, an 84 BB, and an 85 fs single stack which saved my life. I also have the girsan mc14t "tip up" 86 clone. I have Been interested in getting this one since i heard about it. Big fan of the cheetahs plus I also love 92's. I just really wonder how much interchangeably there is with interal parts on this model and my older models.

Thanks for the excellent review. I have 2 questions. 1) Does this use the rotating barrel design? 2) Beretta 80X has a funky somewhat downturned beaver tail that results in increased slide bite. Did Girsan fix this error?

The berreta 84 is awesome had one in uk in mid 2000s. And had a berreta m1934 in bangladesh. Great guns. I know uk another story but dont bother touching all that now. But vz61 is king in uk currently is what i heard.

I have a Beretta 85 and I love it. It is a 10 round gun but I dont really care. It is a beautiful gun and I never shoot it, I just love too colect Berettas.

I bought one and it seized up before a hundred fifty rounds I am having to send it back I also have the bda version that is working ok only thing is they don’t feed hallow point rounds at all

I have owned a Browning 380 BDA since 1979. At the time it was a nice size pistol for caliber. However, today there are 9MM pistols in the same physical size. While I'm sure this pistol is a great shooter, my question is, why?

Hi Dan! I always watch your videos here and in your other channel, they are just GREAT ; didactive, instructive and fun. Here in my country (Guatemala) we are still one of the few countries in LATAM that can still have any kind and amount of fire arms; and recently some 5 years ago small submachine guns , carbines and rifles (.223 rem and 308) . All of these are more expensive than in the USA. Non in automatic mode. USA has baned us from direct import of guns and ammo. So we have to buy from other distribuitors for US brands. You can find European, South American and Asian gun brands here as well. The turkish have made their way fastly beacuse of their quality and price... althoug some brands are bad bad. Girsan , TISAS and Canik have eaten a good part of Glock, SIG and Berreta´s Market here ...Taurus and Bersa as well. I had a Bersa Thunder Plus Combat (15+1 .380acp) of which you made a review some years ago. It looks much with this MC14 in its design. I use 9mm or .45acp in a daily basis. But .380 acp is still a noble calibre and quit effective. We would be pleased if you could come and visit us here in Guatemala to give us a Seminare . Hope you have a nice day ... On the "original" Zenith Girsan MC14, the hammer would nibble on the web of your hand if your grip was very high. Have they fixed it?

I'm tempted by the Girsan MC14 G84 but the prices of VG surplus Beretta 84BB is very close. The question for me is it better to get a surplus copy of the genuine Beretta or a good clone in the Girsan.
