I got one NIB for $150, a 21A in .25. It became my taxi carry. I carried a Mdl 65 3" S&W, a Kahr K9 . . . but settled on the little Beretta for its ability to slip in my left vest pocket, and less worry of hearing damage if I actually fired it inside the cab. I got a lot of crap for the little mouse gun, but I was hired to find a stolen semi trailer. It took an hour, but I found it, and I stood in front of it when the driver tried to take off . . . I just held up that little .25 girl gun and the driver slammed on the air brakes . . . jumping up and down like a monkey, trying to get me arrested when the cops came. The cops just laughed and told me to go . . . so, now I can tell any naysayers that I stopped a semi trailer truck with that little .25 ACP.

@@puertoricanboy100 Dress clothes, going to the beach and/or hot weather clothing are all examples of why some people take their deep carry guns with them instead of their EDC. Sometimes you have to dress around your gun, but other times you may have to choose the gun to go with your clothing. Like with me, I'm skinny. If I want to carry a G43 or P365 sized gun I would have to have a sweater or hoodie on. Otherwise I would have to take a smaller gun and maybe also choose a different carry method (like Urban Carry Holster, Pocket Carry, Below the waistband holster, etc...). You can carry your main CCW in your prison wallet too if you want, but that's normally for your backup gun and/or magazines though.

I love Berettas in general and have always thought they are really beautiful. These little tip-up barrel mouse guns are exquisite. If I were in a position to be a collector, I would start with them.

Yeah, I know people that collect them. I really wish they were still in production though. With so many new people concealed carrying in recent years, mouse guns have been making a comeback. I think guns like these, the Baby Brownings, the NAA revolvers and other small guns are going to become popular again. They were extremely popular for the majority of the 20th century and I think they're going to become popular again now. I just wish there were more options like there used to be. It's insane how many 100's of models there are that were made to contend with the Baby Browning (That are the same size, but sometimes functionally the same and other times functionally different or even hammer fired). I once read that there were over 250 companies producing Baby Browning sized models (or "copies", but I'm not sure if functionally different models were counted or if they were true rip-offs of the Baby Browning). I think it would be pretty crazy either way though. That's a lot of companies producing tiny "mouse guns" or "vest pocket" guns.

I love these little tip up barrel Berettas. I wish Beretta still made the 950 especially in 25 ACP in stainless. Beretta please reintroduce the 950 in 25 ACP and as long as were asking add sites we can all see on it. I wish I still had my Beretta model 20. It was a little smaller than the current model 21A

@Barry Hoffman There's nothing wrong with the 21A except that it is much thicker and longer in the height dimension than the 950. I had a model 20. It was the model the 21A became but it was shorter in height and just slightly thinner. The thickness of the pistol made it print more than my Ruger LCPII 380. I could carry the 380 better concealed than the 25 so why carry the 25? The 950 is considerably thinner, shorter in height and lighter. I like DA/SA guns and I have some but I don't have any problem with strictly single action either. The 950 isn't as small as my pair of Baby Browning 25's but it is very small.
@deucedeuce1572
@deucedeuce1572 Ай бұрын
@@frankbrowning328 I never thought about getting a 950, because I always thought it was the same size as the 21A, but it was only recently that I found out they're actually smaller. Someone recently told me that the original 950's were smaller than the later 950B and 950BS models. Not sure if that's true though. Was going to buy parts for a friend, so he can make mods without having to risk damaging his original parts... but now I'm not certain if the parts will fit his model, which is an original 950. Another person told me though that there is no such thing as a 950 and that the 950B is the original model. His does say "950" on the side though and not 950B. I just never got to compare it to a 950B or 950BS to see if they're the same size or not. Someone else told me that the 950 and 950B/BS are the same size except the thickness of the frame... (so that's why I'm confused... different opinions all around). Wikipedia does mention the 950 separately from the 950B too though, so I'm assuming there really was an original 950... but I'm still clueless if the parts are interchangeable.

@@frankbrowning328 I know they didn't have a safety, but some people are saying the frame was smaller. Great guns. I’ve carried a Beretta 21a for nearly twenty years. It’s typically not my first carry choice, but it’s definitely better than no gun. It’s great for when you find yourself in a time crunch and you have to grab and go. 22lr isn’t ideal, but 8 rounds of CCI Velocitor is far more affective than an empty pocket. A mouse in your pocket is better than nothing in your pocket.

How do you carry it. I would prefer not to Carry a round in the chamber but with the tip up design it's not really practical, so you carry it with the safety on I take it. Do you worry about it discharging in your pocket?
@deucedeuce1572
@deucedeuce1572 Ай бұрын
@@thetechlibrarian You really don't have to worry about an accidental discharge with the 21A. It has a very heavy, very long Double Action trigger pull. Most people pocket carry them in a holster, but many don't even use a holster, because the trigger is so long and heavy. The 950 models have a Single Action trigger and I wouldn't want to carry one of them without a safety (even though they would never go off in a holster)... but they actually did produce the 950 without manual safeties (the 950 and 950B don't have a safety, but the 950BS does). It's one of the few Single Action guns I've every seen that was made without a safety. Then again, the P365, P320 and other similar guns, (although striker fired) are really "Single Action" firearms that don't have a safety. They may not function exactly like a hammer fired Single Action or "SAO" firearm... but they definitely have a Single Action like trigger. They do make manual safety versions now, but they didn't when they came out. As long as they're in a holster though, they'll never go off without the trigger being pulled. (SIG was sued for the P320 going off in holsters, but in each and every lawsuit, they were able to prove that the owner/operator did in fact pull the trigger unintentionally in every case).

Hello Sootch, great video as always. I do have an addiction for these little Beretta Tip-Up Pocket Pistols. I have just about everyone that you have. However, I did come across a model 20A in 25acp at my local gunstore and picked it up. That is a super rare model and it does have a manual safety like the model 21 in 25acp. One thing for anyone here that is actually reading my comment, if you do have a Tomcat in 32acp, make sure you follow the guide that was given in the box about the type of 32acp ammunition to use. These guns did have frame cracking issues, and yes they beefed up the slides. You need to run what they say to run or Beretta will not honor any type of warrenty. Again, I too love mouse guns and you have an amazing collection there.

The Model 20 has a thumb safety. The factory manual says to never dry fire it without an empty casing in the chamber, even though it's a .25. A one-handed hold is best for M20 shooters with big hands. With two hands, you can accidentally flip the barrel up while firing, even though you think your support hand is nowhere near the lever.

I didn't think of it before buying my 21A, but the ability to rack the slide by hand is often required to clear malfunctions. When you initially load it, it's fine. But, when you get a failure to feed you have to pull the slide back, use a pocket knife to get under the cartridge to gently pry it up while taking pressure off the slide. For me that's a problem because I have one hand. I can do it, but it isn't pretty. Just an FYI for others.
@deucedeuce1572

Just tip the barrel up to remove the malfunction. You don't need to rack the slide to clear any malfunctions with the 21A... and like most other handguns, it takes two hands to rack the slide anyways... unless it's a Lignose Einhand (one hand). I thought that the 21a would be more beneficial to people with one hand, because you don't ever have to rack the slide.

@@ReZipped Yeah you can. There's no extractor. As long as the bullets not still stuck in the magazine, but I think if it's halfway in the barrel it would be far enough out of the magazine. In any case, I can't imagine a scenario where I'd want to clear a malfunction with only one hand. Saw a video where a cop got shot in his support hand and had to rack his gun with his teeth (and broke several of them in the process). Saved his life though... and that was a Glock. edit: I caused a misfeed where the rim od the case was still in the mag and the barrel didn't open. That was only with the tip of the bullet in the chamber. I couldn't get it to jam "half way" in though to test. The snap caps are slightly thinner than a round, so I think they're much harder to induce a jam/misfeed. You can easily rack it to take pressure off it though... but that still wouldn't let me open the barrel. When I let go of it though (the slide) it did end up causing the bullet to load. I did the reverse of what people do to press check a Glock with one hand. You could probably do it the normal way, but it's kind of a small slide and it wouldn't work for a press check (but might work to help remove a jam). I think if you google "one handed press check" there might be videos describing what I mean. It allows you to partially rack the slide with one hand and not having to set the gun down or anything. You pinch the grip with your thumb so if don't slip out of your hand and then wrap your fingers over the top of the slide. Then squeeze in a way with intent to pull the slide back. Hope that helps anyways. I get what you mean though. A misfeed can definitely stop the barrel from opening if any part of the round is still between the feed lips of the magazine.

Had a 21 in 22 and a 86 in 380. The 21 was surprisingly accurate.

While it isn't a tip up barrel, I have a 418 in 25 ACP that is a lot of fun and easily concealed in the pocket of my gym shorts,around the house.

If the model 950bs are the same size in 25acp and 22 short could you swap out all the appropriate parts and switch between both calibers on the same frame?

I have a 21a and it needs good quality ammo. Minimags work well. It is very accurate even with horrible sights

8:37 The 22 short reliably fires? Do you mean in contrast to the other calibers? I ask because I have a 32 ACP Berretta Tomcat, and it has significant failure-to-feed issues.

I must be going crazy. I think I saw ur shooting a 21a double action only, all rounds, not just the first one....can u speak to that? I have most of these including the 950 25 cal...You have great vids, keep up the good work.

A big problem is if the automatic is ready to be used. To be safe, most of them are not ready until you rack the slide. However, if you have such a racked gun on you, it could easily go off. The tilt barrel is ready without racking it. However, the trigger pull on the first shot is still fairly difficult. That is easily solved by first pulling back the hammer. If you still think the 32 caliber Tomcat has too small a shell, get the hollow point ammo.

The Beretta Tip Ups are cool and gang pocket pistols for sure but I much prefer the Seecamp 32 and the Keltec 32. The Seecamp while with less capacity 6+1 is so much smaller and the Keltec so much lighter and still 7+1. I have one or the other in my pocket all day every day except when I'm sleeping. On another note, I'd like to have the Beretta with its tip up function but it is a fat gun for being so small and its so dang pricey for what it is. Still cool video flick on the firearm. Mahalo!

My wife's EDC is the little 950 in 25acp they have gotten a little more expensive to purchase. Had even found a Beretta 25acp with the no longer made Crimson Trace Laser Grip but it was stolen by a person we thought we trusted to watch our home while my wife had surgery

Im not happy with Beretta right now. I bought a 1301 marine and had to return it. The finish quality was horrible and there was dings in the front sight stud. The nut on the front sight was mared and on crooked. I took it back and exchanged it and the second one hade even more problems. Scratches from the handgaurd on the barrel and receiver. I ended up getting my money back after Beretta blew me off. And the Benelli's had the same issues as the Beretta shotguns did. What do yall think about this.

I got to hold one today at the pawn shop after seeing this video a while ago I got to say it feels real nice that trigger being single and double action is perfect. It feels much bigger than it is it actually lets you get a nice grip on it and the sights are good it feels like a miniature real gun not some piece of crap pocket pistol I tried the LCP after that and it felt like garbage it was so small I felt like I couldn't even shoot it i couldn't get a grip on it and it. I wish they made a 380 like these
