I was so upset when Matthew left the show!!!😭😭. Remember my mum saying to me: “Well this is his last episode today”! The tears just streamed down my face. Sooty wasn’t the same after that so I didn’t watch it any more.

I always cried when Matthew retired. I stopped watching Sooty years ago, but he is still the best man to have done the job. Richard was good as well, but Matthew seemed the right fatherly figure.

“I’m going to leave you all on the capable hands”! Then Matthew looks into the camera.😂😂😂 His facial expression was hilarious 😆.

It sure was sad to see Matthew leaving the show but nothing can last forever, at least he'll always be remembered for his time in the show from 1976-1998. And I'll always prefer him over Richard who is still great, but no one can replace how great Matthew was.

When I was a young boy. My mum and dad bought me a Sooty hand puppet, for my 6th birthday. As I used to like watching it. I never knew what happened to it. 50 years on and I still like to watch the classic episodes. It brings back memories of when my mum and myself would sit on the settee together, with me cuddling up to my mum watch Sooty and Sweep. Miss you mum. xxx

I remembered watching the Sooty and Co on ITV back in the 90's when I was very young. I really do enjoying watching the show and I do wished the whole series is finally released onto complete DVD collection at last.

I came home from school and I remember watching this well..the tears streamed out as I’d grown up with Sooty and Co all those years. I may be in my 20’s now but the love for this show is eternal.

This is how ANY cast changeover SHOULD be done! It introduces viewers to the new cast while saying goodbye to the outgoing ones! If only they did this when Richard O'Brian left The crystal maze and was replaced by Ed tudor pole. I'd of LOVED to see them both in the maze with Richards last team.

I remember watching this and I was really sad to see that this was Matthew's last ever episode. Even though Richard is still carrying and doing decently well with taking the mantle of Sooty, I just feel that Matthew still made them more memorable.

I watched one of the newer episodes of Sooty series 2011 present, maybe it's my age, but I didn't find them as good after Matthew left, he had much more charm. I also don't know if Sooty is as popular on TV there's now millions of channels though, so a lot of shows have become a needle in a haystack.

I remember watching this and crying at the end when I was a boy. i don't know if this was the first or second showing of the last episode. but it was a good send off for Mathew aka Peter. when they said 'bye bye everyone bye bye" with all the episodes of the last series being shown, i remember thinking that this was the end of sooty. but thankfully it wasn't

I didn't see this at the time as I was by then a young adult and at college, but I did watch this a week ago, and I was weeping like a big kid. I grew up watching Sooty as a child and him, Sweep, Soo and Matthew were an important part of my childhood throughout the 80s and into the early 90s. I'm not saying Richard Cadell isn't good at what he does, because I'm glad that he's kept Sooty going and does a good job, but Matthew was most definitely like a father figure type to Sooty and his friends and I do miss that aspect of it. I think a lot of fans do miss Matthew, but I respect his decision as long as he's alright and enjoying his retirement.

Remember having this very broadcast recorded on vhs. Sooty & Co and CITV was my childhood.

Okay I'm gonna come out and say it, I've never watched sooty shows with Matthew when I was a child or Richard and had no intention of watching them, a few weeks ago the very first episode of Sooty and Co and all the other classic episodes of Sooty appeared on my Tik Tok and I was like fine I'll watch it, obviously I had work in the afternoon and I wasn't up for going. I'm now suddenly hooked. I can't bear to watch this episode because before I watched a few episodes with Richard I loved his slapstick comedy but Matthew is so, so different, he's really funny, he's serious, he's like a Father figure and he will always be the best presenter. I just wish I knew him in my early years. He really needs to get tik tok

Boy I remember these clips from unknown Episodes of Sooty and co that I used to watch when it was on a original recorded tape that I used to have but I thrown the tape to recycle because it was getting a bit old at that time.

At almost 29 that 'bye bye everybody' montage at the end set me off :( I stopped watching after this episode, after loving Sooty so so much growing up.

This was a sad time for me to. I grew up watching Sooty with Matthew Corbett. A big part of my childhood. I used to laugh watching it every time a new episode came on. Sadly after Matthew retired, I stopped watching it. I never liked Richard Cadell as the presenter. He lacks charm and tries to hard to be like a Corbett and Ive noticed that he steals ideas to so has no originality in him. Matthew was the best Sooty presenter.
