Dannenberg's first major climb was up Mount Rainier in Washington State in 2002.
In 2005, she scaled five peaks: the Grand Teton (Wyoming), Mount Katahdin (Maine), Mount Denali (Alaska), and Ama Dablam (Nepal).
In the spring of 2006, at age 34, after one week of planning, Sophia Danenberg began the climb of Mount Everest in Nepal, the highest mountain in the world at 29,000 feet.
And on May 19, 2006, after two months of climbing, she and her party reached the summit of Mount Everest. The Black History Buff Podcast is a fully independent project.
