Hey Sophia, great video! Question on the scrim or diffuser in front of the Nanlite, would the same effect have been achieved by a soft box? Wanted to know your thoughts on what the benefit of the long diffuser was. Thanks!
@SophiaCarey
@SophiaCarey 10 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching! It's my understanding that, whilst they're both very similar and can be used for the same effect, using a scrim can give you a bit more flexibility in terms of moving the light and where the fall off of the light will appear in relation to the diffusion sheet. For example, you could move the light to the top corner of the scrim and the fall off would be more gradual below it, whereas with a soft box the light is always in the centre of the diffuser with a radial fall off. I guess it also makes it a bit quicker to set up, change modifiers etc, since a light with no softbox is lighter and easier to move around. Hopefully that helps!

Impressive work! What have you used for the colors? LED panels?
@SophiaCarey

were these all shot a few stops under? its super dark in there and the shots look like maybe they were underexposed then brough back up in scanning/printing
@SophiaCarey

I’m honestly not sure but I don’t believe they were intentionally shot at anything other than box speed, if my memory serves correctly from how Alex was metering on the day. I might be wrong though!

interesting! they look awesome regardless. loved the video format of just kind of being a fly on the wall and watching a shoot. I shoot very similar to him in that im always switching from my RZ to 35mm haha it felt familiar. @@SophiaCarey

@SophiaCarey
@SophiaCarey 3 ай бұрын
@@alstuart8801 he was using the digital for metering purposes for the film, so it would have been the same

Why does every film shooter do a countdown before taking the actual image, if I was the model I would freak out !... its like one utuber started doing this and all the rest followed
@SophiaCarey

From my experience, it's helpful for the model to know when the photo is going to be taken so that they don't blink etc. Especially with cameras that take a little longer with focusing and with systems like the Mamiya RB/RZ because the different noises (such as the magnifier collapsing) can sound like a shutter to someone who doesn't know the camera and they might move/not realise when the photo is being taken
